He could make an impact though a la KP, but just like KP the injuries might make him ineffective overall. I think it was a gamble, but possibly not one that even matters for a few years either way.

when no one took him in the first it- essentially made my gamble very expensive and compounded it into a long-term investment...
It became a sunk cost at that point...
