OT: NY Yankees 2025 Season Thread (Hal is cheap, Brian is dumb)

We know Williams sucks but the story of the game should be the lineup getting no runs and only 2 hits. Warren pitched a shutout in the Texas heat. It doesn't even matter anymore the Yankees just find ways to lose. Hal and Cashman have created an atmosphere of losers, Boone is their yes man.

It's like a job atmosphere where corporate pushes out the good supervisors and hires yes men. What you create is a losers culture, where corporate calls every shot and lacks basic common sense.

This season is over. Fire Cashman, sell off Williams, sell off basically everyone except Judge, Cole and Rice.

Gave up Caleb Durbin for Williams…hot damn, what an awful trade that was for us.

Tbh, we were probably going to lose. Eovaldi has a 1 ERA and Boone doesn’t know how to manage extra innings on the road. Really annoys me Eovaldi used to be trash as a Yankee.

I don't understand why Williams is being used when he has consistently shown that he is garbage.

This team is completely broken.

Boone has run his course as a manager. Cashman has run his course as a GM.

I don't want to root for us to keep losing, but this isn't sustainable. It's time to rip all of this apart.

No Devin Williams = Yankees win...for a manager who is on the hot seat, Aaron Boone has really not had a "sense of urgency" about benching bums

Yea...Bednar might be made for this. Multi-inning save, 5 strikeouts, big losing streak, our previous "closer" choking two games away, told the manager to sit his ass down and let finish the game. I'll take that.

I'm going to be super annoyed if they let Luke Weaver go, though. He'll probably end up in a Mets jersey cause...Hal.

Boone is so effin stupid, it's a joke.

This is the second time he's put Williams in against the heart of the batting order and of course, Williams gives up a hit in extra innings.

Just fire him. What is this? Does he want to be fired? Is Boone betting against the Yankees?

Edit: And he gives up a home run...send him where Jake Bird went.

Man I have so much rage towards Aaron Boone right now...the man is such a dumb***

We had some really good performances too. Schlittler matching Hunter Brown with 5 IP 2 runs is something I'll take any day. Yerry De los Santos keeps getting good results. Doval and Yerry De los Santos both pitched over an inning. Luke Weaver actually shut down most of the dangerous hitters on the Astros lineup before Williams coughed it up. Should have known, because Boone doesn't know how to do shat in extra innings.

Also...Matt Blake is looking like a regular pitching coach. He doesn't seem like a genius right now. Some good, some bad.

Boone will talk about how they’re running out of time and need to show a sense of urgency but will keep throwing a broken man out on the mound. Williams hasn’t wanted to be here since day 1 and has shown nothing that would make you think he can be a Yankees reliever. He looks miserable everytime he’s on the mound. It’s an absolute joke that he’s still pitching for this team. He should honestly be DFA’d tonight.

Anytime Williams comes jogging out of the bullpen, it's safe to change the channel because it's an automatic loss.

I don't know what Luke Weaver did to Boone, but if we gave him an ounce of the favoritism we showed to Devin Williams, we'd be in much better shape.

I think it very hypocritical that Boone can find a way to waste Weaver against the 6-7-8 hitters and then find multiple ways for Williams to screw up against the heart of the Astros batting lineup and in big moments.

We gave Weaver that closer's job when Devin Williams was effing up and then didn't hesitate to yank it back when the first opportunity arose to let Devin Williams become a closer again. It's just gross.

Weaver - Closer
Bednar - Setup Man
Cruz when he comes back - Setup man
Doval/Leiter - holy eff, close your eyes, hope he doesn't eff up
De Los Santos - have no idea why Boone doesn't trust him
Tim Hill - the guy we leave on the bench when Devin Williams is screwing up the game
Devin Williams - mop up duty. Treat him like the position player who comes in to pitch when we're down 10 runs

Going to need Max Fried to carry tomorrow. We used all our relievers today and Boone had to use Bednar for a multi inning save so we might not have him for 2 days again.

I dunno if he actually follows analytics tbh. He’s really bad at platooning Rice and Goldschmidt against righties/lefties.

But yea…the Yankees analytics team seems pretty suspect right now
