They are waiting to see if he can avoid injuries this season before offering a deal to him. Totally understandable.

Unfortunately the last time Mitch showed he could stay relatively healthy it was also in a contract year and then he missed the majority of the games on his current contract.

While it's not massive depth, Knicks invested heavily in KAT who should and drafted Hukporti though maybe he can be seen as the 3rd string project that replaced Sims.

I think the Knicks are better off with Mitch in some role, starting or bench. But feels like this is a sign a trade happens at the deadline.

Assuming Mitch isn't sidelined by then with another injury.

the wiretap says giannis wants to be a knick. at this point i dont even know who i would want to trade for him, if he asks for a trade at some point.

Knicks had Giannis talks with the bucks in August but the bucks didn’t like our trade package and didn’t want to trade him… yet. I’ve said it before but Dame blowing out his Achilles screwed our offer from being taken. With so many picks out the door maybe they’ll still want to be mid to not give up lottery picks but it’s going to be tougher without dame still on the roster.

Honestly though, I rather make a run at winning a championship with the roster we have. We have a roster than should be able to withstand some injuries.
