True, but who cares about the regular season? In the playoffs, you have to run an offense, and Lin does it better than Felton.

fixed it for you

My prediction - without Lin, 49 wins and not competitive in the playoffs. With Lin, 54 wins and competitive in the playoffs.

45 wins? Is that really what we're shooting for here?

You got me laying odds on my own life. I'm like, there's a 3:1 chance we don't match, is my life really worth $75 m?

I think I'd need at least $50 mil to take the bet or a $10 mil payout to my family if Lin goes to Houston.

As you like to say, that is opinion, not fact.

And I disagree. Why would Lin want to play for a team where he won't be featured and where he won't be able to play to his strengths? In Houston there is little pressure and the ball runs through him. Not to mention that he doesn't have to work for a front office that has bitterness for him or with players that bear resentment. And he won't have to compete with fatass Felton, Dolan's pet, for minutes.

He didn't feel the need to come into shape in his CONTRACT YEAR... so logically we can assume, that he's going to come to camp in shape when he just got paid? Uhhh... OK.

this is a 50+ win team without injuries

the thing with lin is he can propel you deep into the POs if he pans out

I just hope NY matches it for bball and non bball reasons...but right now Im not optimistic at all

I don't think this "that's just your opion!" stuff contributes. Everything in the damn world could be an opinion. When people have a strong opinion they believe it to be factually true. It's not necessary to preface everthing with "WARNING: Opinion."

Logic, really? It's a guess. He was miserable after being traded and knows he will get KILLED in NY if he's fat not to mention he's coming on a team where Melo looks to be in tremendous shape and you know Amare and Chandler will be in shape.

Ok, that's understandable based on your odds line. Personally, I would do it. It's a risk, but I trust Melo. I think it's a 95% chance that Lin is back.

45 wins? Is that really what we're shooting for here?

Seriously, I think some fans here have been brainwashed to think that 45 win season is OK and getting spanked out of the playoffs is ok as well. It doesn't seem like its all about the chip anymore. With Lin = NO CHIP!. Without Lin = NO CHIP! This team is doomed to mediocrity for the next 3 years either way.

You're one of the better posters here with regards to this stuff (contracts/rules/CBA), so it's nothing new to you but alot of others didn't know all the details.

Understood. And to be honest, the stretch provision never occurred to me either. But I haven't been arguing WHY the Knicks should match Lin, I've just been arguing that the Knicks likely know and have known all along whether they'll match Lin for sometime.

I give them the benefit of the doubt the stretch provision occurred to them long ago, which is my point.

But we should make the moves that give us the best chance at winning a title.

Because we had Duhon before Felton. He was a stop gap before CP3.

If I had a dollar for every fact that ESPN has gotten wrong regarding the Lin situation over the past few days, I could buy myself a nice new guitar or something.

But I'd probably just end up buying a big bag of bath salts, because listening to these schmoes get even the big details completely wrong makes me want to chew someone's face off.

It is the common belief in Houston. Everyone knows it.

You're right, it is an opinion, but it coincides with everything coming out of the Lin camp.
