Yeah really dumb trade for Philly. They aren’t going to win, and will Harris resign, especially since he’s like the 4th option..?

I actually like the trade for both teams. The 76ers had to acquire someone since Butler wasn't a lock to return and Wilson Chandler and Mike Muscala (17M total) were just going to expire. They had to renounce everyone and trade everything in order to make a max signing in free agency (while keeping Butler). This way they get a secondary star in Harris, keep Butler, Reddick, and McConnal, and still have assets to trade. They weren't a destination for free agency nor trade, so a player of Harris's caliber is what they were looking forward to regardless.

As for the Clippers, this trade likely regresses them into the lottery, which protects their first round pick from going to the Celtics. They likely have a commitment from Kawhi and now have more assets in order to make cap space/trade for for a second star and maybe trade for another. I don't think they will pursue three stars though, and are likely loading up for a potential Kawhi-AD combo with good role players.

A huge part of this and why players wanna play for the Lakers as well is very simple which is simply because it's LA and almost all these star players live in LA in the offseason and just wanna be there compared to cold azz NY. Players have always wanted to go to the Lakers before Lebron got there. Kawhi was talking about it and PG was talking about it and that was before Lebron got there.

The sixers look really good on paper, but that could be a lot to give up if they can't keep Tobias and Butler.

They are taking their shot though.

Def win for the Clippers side. Shamet is a low key nice pickup in the deal.

Clippers are a Gallo stretch away from having 64 million in cap, or close enough to it

Potentially could sign Kawhi and Kyrie, then trade for AD. Whew lad

Reasons why I think we're better off just rolling with the rebuild. Of course, if KD wants to come here, by all means, then we can use the other 30 million on quality role players. Might be our best option if no one worth a 2nd max wants to come

KD probably won't come unless he knows someone else is coming too
