Clarke isn’t trash, he’s playing the way everyone thought Boston would be. The two might not fit

this was his first decent game. at least they both hit a few 3s

As soon as Knicks get Kentucky pipeline confirmed.
Both of them look mediocre so far especially Boston.

We still got CAA and if Terrance falls to that Mavs pick we’ll be lucky

Calipari shouldn't have switched from 1 and dones to 5 and dones. On the other hand, maybe he's just practicing to be the next Knicks' coach?

This kid is really nice. The only red flag I see is his hair. That's usually the type of hairstyle that NBA scrubs are rocking.

Maybe he's a pioneer and will be the first non-role player to wear it, there always has to be a first.

Re-watching Boston and the flashes are there. It's been a rough start (for him & that team), but I'm not sure that he won't "figure it out" through the course of the season enough to justify his pre-season hype, at least if that Kentucky team as a whole gets its s*** together.

Kid's got advanced moves in his repertoire, the stroke looks a lot better than his #s have been so far -- to go with his rep as a shot-maker at previous levels -- the physical tools are certainly there, and there's a craftiness in his game that just doesn't seem to know how to show itself in that current set up. Makes me wonder how differently they'd look right now if they had gotten IQ to come back for another season to give them a vet to run things instead of just hoping these babies figure it out on their own.

At this point Boston certainly doesn't look like someone who'll step in & kill it as a rookie unless things go absolutely perfectly for him on draft night, but I can see where the hype came from & why teams who trust their development staffs would still love him. I'd still prefer Ziaire & the G-league wings (Green/Kuminga) at this point...especially for us...though Ziaire & Kuminga are going to need time too. But I'm more intrigued by Boston than I was at first glance, hopefully that UK team gets it together so we can get a better idea of just how far away he is by draft time.

Ok I watched a lot of the top guys.

IMO,

there is a HUGE HUGE gap between the top 3 and the rest of the names I've seen listed. I feel really confident about Cade and Jalen Green being stars. Suggs a little less.

PLEASE GOD LET THE KNICKS SECURE A TOP 2 PICK.

1/ Cade - played with intensity and stayed locked in on every offensive/defensive possession. Clearly made his teammates better. His handle is a little sloppy and he has had trouble getting angles down the lane on dribble drive. But his passing and BBIQ is so painfully obvious he's got a very high ceiling. It's so hard to find a comp for him. A lot of people are going to say "ben Simmons" but... I think hes a better passer than Simmons was at the same time. I worry less about his shot form based on his size and that he's probably a point forward at 6'8. his BBIQ is just off the chart.

2/ Jalen Green - he's got effortless athleticism. When you watch Suggs play, you see his high, loud emphatic moments of explosion. When Green does the same things down the lane, you just see a more graceful athlete that doesnt seem like he needs to max exert his energy to finish or to hang and bang. a CLEAR sg but I do think his shooting form is definitely going to have to be tweaked. He jumps REALLY high on his jumpsuits. Like absurdly high and you can see him actually KICK his legs down while hes coming down. And hes got a low shooting pocket. It worries me, but his shooting %s are very fine against good competition.

3/Suggs - wow. explosive with powerful hang and bang down the lane with good finish rate. Clearly a really high level athlete with a decent amount of BBIQ based on his snap passes. a true PG who plays at level 100 all the time. His strength down the lane is very reminiscent of a guy like Russell Westbrook.

a few notes on others, big gap down for the rest of the guys.

I think Mobley is next best player strictly based on projectibility and athleticism. I'm not convinced hes a C in the NBA because he is more finesse than brute strength.

Zaire williams? lol wtf? knocking down some spot up threes makes you a top 10 player? Please... I dont see it. He did his best Anthony Edwards impression based on the games I saw. I dont like.

Jalen Johnson- eh, didn't see enough to form an strict opinion. first thought was "Harrison barnes". didn't see a guy that could contribute in multiple ways.

BJ Boston- meh. he reminded me of Chris Copeland

kuminga- incomplete

'knocking down some spot up 3s' is one way to describe Ziaire's performances so far. Not an accurate one, mind you, but it's a thing a person could say...

What's intriguing about Ziaire is that he's shown that beautiful stroke off the dribble (not just spotting up), he makes good decisions with the ball, is an intelligent defender, and has excellent length. Plus he might be playing through something, as folks who watched him a lot last year have commented about him not moving as well as he was...which would explain that big knee brace that suddenly appeared this season.

His handle will need further polish & he'll need to add strength, but that's been true of basically every prospect other than Zion & LeBron.

E:
Not saying he's top 3, but you're underselling him hard & he'd be a great grab if Cade / Green / Mobley / Suggs are off the board by our pick...or we luck into Suggs/Cade with the Mavs pick...especially if Stanford starts letting him initiate their offense more as he continues settling in.

Mavs have a real hard first half schedule too... They should rack up a lot of losses early. Hopefully they get into a hole and fall back.

Knowing they don’t have their pick they won’t fall back.. they’re gonna scrap and claw for every victory they can get

I do expect them to do their best, but with an injury prone KP as their second star, they'll likely rest him more games if they are in a hole. Also the mavs roster is mostly made up of rookies, and 1 year rentals. They should take a step back this year.

They don't need the playoffs, even without a pick. They just need Doncic to look great and KP to be healthy for the whole season. That should enough to try and attract a third star and their number #1 priority.

I still have their pick in the 12-18 range.

On the low, low if Oladipo looks good I think they trade for him. They don't got immediate picks, but they do have some young players and can send stuff like Lakers did 2025 pick, 2026 swap, etc. Pacers might take that considering Oladipo fell into their lap.

Damn you all the season is super early... Keep Calm!
O by the way don't forget about Moses Moody, Josh Christopher and Ayo Dosunmu.

And two brooklyn studs, 6-5 James Bouknight and 6-8 Julian Champagnie(by years end he will definitely be talked about)
