Well, this could get interesting. Here's one of the big counter moves by the administration/republicans, etc:
https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/trump-mueller-carter-page-fisa-comey_us_5ba01d94e4b013b0977dea01
I'm completely willing to consider there were some shenanigans that might come to light. Let's see it out in public. Can't argue with against transparency.
However, I'm skeptical that transparency was the reason for this disclosure or how any information within will be treated.
I don't know enough about exactly what got released, but there seems to be a pretty casual treatment of sensitive information here. Then again, maybe that's a good thing.

ASHINGTON ― President Donald Trump has intervened in an ongoing investigation of his 2016 presidential campaign, ordering the declassification of portions of a secret application for surveillance of a member of his campaign as well as the release of text messages exchanged by FBI employees involved in the investigating of Russian interference in the 2016 election.
Trump on Monday directed the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and the Justice Department to immediately declassify portions of the June 2017 FISA court application regarding former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page. The president also demanded the public release of text messages exchanged by former FBI employees Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, whose texts have provided regular fodder for Fox News and congressional Republicans intent on undermining special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.
The FBI had previously released a heavily redacted version of the Page FISA application in July. Trump’s defenders on Capitol Hill and in the conservative media have routinely used the Strzok-Page text messages to undermine the Mueller probe and suggest that the FBI is biased against Trump.
Trump also ordered the public release of texts messages sent by former FBI Director James Comey, former Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, as well as Justice Department official Bruce Ohr. The president also ordered the release of notes on meetings with Ohr, who relayed information to the FBI collected by former British spy Christopher Steele about Trump’s relationship with Russia.
Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, called Trump’s “selective release of materials he believes are helpful to his defense team” a “clear abuse of power.”
“With respect to some of these materials, I have been previously informed by the FBI and Justice Department that they would consider their release a red line that must not be crossed as they may compromise sources and methods,” Schiff said in a statement. “This is evidently of no consequence to a President who cares about nothing about the country and everything about his narrow self-interest.”
It’s unclear how the selected pages of the Page FISA application would be released, and what the timeline is for the release of the FBI text messages.
A Justice Department spokesperson said Monday evening that the DOJ and FBI were “already working with the Director of National Intelligence to comply with the President’s order.”
The president’s order, the spokesperson said, triggered “a declassification review process that is conducted by various agencies within the intelligence community, in conjunction with the White House Counsel, to seek to ensure the safety of America’s national security interests.”
This story has been updated with a statement from a Justice Department spokesperson.

It's not really transparancy though
They're releasing 20 pages from a 400 page document, which will probably be only the stuff that corroborates their narrative
So it's likely gonna be just the 20 pages talking about the Steele dossier, but conveniently leaving out the bits that say it's only tangentially related to why they need to spy on Page

This. Trump is only doing this yo protect himself he doesn't give a damn about transparency. The Steele dossier is rock solid. Republicans have not been able to find any holes in it

Oh yeah, I agree. I just put it out there as a possible good scenario, which is highly unlikely.

one would think being targeted for counterintelligence investigation is a bad look.

There are a couple problems here though. One, is compromising confidential sources. The other is that Trump is simply cherry-picking certain pieces of info to release in order to create a false narrative against the entire investigation.

Rick Wilson is a "Never Trump" Republican (a good thing) and is a VERY connected, very smart guy in DC who understands how sh*t works there. I've read nearly every article he's written lately and his book. If he feels this way, this is BIG news.

This video is a fascinating look at how this allegation against Kavanaugh got publicized. Ryan Grim is excellent. Feinstein does not come off well.

The voters want Democrats to fight but then they complain when they get a little dirty. It's **** Kavanaugh one of the most unpopular Supreme court picks. If Trump hasn't picked someone with this much baggage then there would be no scandal.

McConnell tried to convince him to go with other picks who didn't have these problems but Trump wanted Kavanaugh on the bench to protect him from Mueller. That's how pathological Trump's narcissism is.

There are so many Q folks who are beyond obnoxious and gullible. I guess you’d have to be those two things to believe that QAnonsense. They really thought Mueller was working with Trump in a secret sting operation against Hillary?

Re: OT: Twitter Thread on 3 Decades of Russian & Mafia Relationships with Trump
A second accuser has come forward against Kavanaugh from his freshman year at Yale. He - allegedly - undid his pants and put his penis up to a female classmate's face and told her to kiss it. I think it may be time to take a step back and have the FBI conduct its investigation of these two incidents and then have a Senate hearing on them. Or Kavanaugh can just withdraw if he really opposes being interviewed by the FBI on this. Remember, lying to the FBI is a felony.

“What happens at Georgetown Prep does not stay at Georgetown Prep,” he tweeted.
No other details were offered about Avenatti’s client, but he is scheduled to speak with CNN’s Chris Cuomo on Monday to discuss what they know.
Mike Davis, chief counsel of nominations at the Senate Judiciary Committee, reached out to Avenatti after he posted his tweets and asked him to “please advise of this information immediately so that Senate investigators may promptly begin an inquiry.”
In response, Avenatti sent an email back saying: “We are aware of significant evidence of multiple house parties in the Washington, D.C. area during the early 1980s, during which Brett Kavanaugh, Mark Judge and others would participate in the targeting of women with alcohol/drugs to allow a ‘train’ of men to subsequently gang rape them.”
Avenatti claimed to have “multiple witnesses” that could corroborate “these facts.”
“Each of them must be called to testify publicly,” he said.

Rosenstein out! what does this mean for the mueller probe? and if the probe continues then is trump's legal team just going to say the whole investigation was tainted and biased from the beginning because of rosenstein, is that a valid defense? I want to see trump out or atleast forced not to run for re-election after we win this trade war with china.

Did you see the "random" panel of women on CNN that were polled and then question about who they believed? Because that's what they said. I later discovered that they were all GOP operatives and/or congressional candidates. But CNN never disclosed that to the audience. Honestly, I'm shocked. I'm also shocked by that hit job in the NY Times on Rosenstein. I thought that was National Inquirer level garbage. Just like what Judith Miller did on the run up to the Iraq War.
Kavanaugh won't voluntarily submit to an FBI investigation and interview because lying to them is a felony. But all women are begging for the FBI to investigate.

I don't think he's out just yet, though obviously it seems like it's a matter of time.
