not with that contract. Felton has negative value because of the injuries, legal issues and overall poor play.

That being the reason I'd add Smith. I know these are two players peolpe don't like but I feel they can work for the Hornets

taking on smith and his contract is a risk in itself. Your not going to be able to clear felton with him. Wishful thinking. Raymond Felton will be on the Knicks next year yawning during timeouts and getting injured.

I wonder if any teams would take Shumpert and Felton for cap space alone. Philly? Utah? They've been taking on contracts for picks and it's not like Felton's will be that bad at 2 yrs/7 million. They'd just buy him out (we could add cash).

JR needs to be showcased and traded for an expiring around the deadline. I like a deal with Charlotte - maybe Gary Neal and a minimum player or two?

Trade 1: Tyson to Dallas
Wright, JR, Ellington, #34 pick to Charlotte
Crowder, Neal, and TPE to NY

Trade 2: Shump for CJ McCollum

Trade 3: TPE for Kendrick Perkins and future pick

Should leave us under the apron, so we can use part of the full mle to get Shaun Livingston

Livingston/Prigs/McCollum
Neal/Hardaway/Brown
Melo/Crowder
Amare/Tyler/Odom
Perkins/Cole/Bargs

Yeah but it leaves us in a position to replace Amare/Perkins/Bargs with two max's in 2015. The point is to acquire some young assets on rookie deals (Crower and McCollum) while having enough vets to make the playoffs.

What exactly are you going to do with the TPE though? It's only useful if you are planning on using it. Otherwise, it's pointless and valueless (especially for a deep pocket team like the Knicks). And using it would potentially cut into any plans on adding a 2nd star (assuming Anthony stays) in 2015. And you need 2 stars for the Triangle.

The point of getting a TPE is mainly to clear enough salary to get under the apron and use the full MLE. If we used the TPE on Perkins it wouldn't hurt us post-2015 cause he expires. We'd basically get a pick or asset for the trouble of renting Perkins for the year, who actually wouldn't be that bad of a fit in the triangle.

Don't want to see Shump traded unless he can't play in triangle. Though I do want to get into this draft. To that end THjr should be sufficient.

If triangle requires high basketball IQ and basic fundamental basketball skills doesn't that leave Shump out in the cold?

Problem is Shump is due for a raise in 2015 that cuts into our cap space. Also, if we sign Livingston as I suggested above, we would need our other guards to be elite outside shooters, and Shump's defense would be more dispensable.

The Triangle requires guys that have great instincts and that has the mental discipline to be able to be willing to learn it and execute it. I don't think it excludes not particularly smart players (as their are roles for players with specific skills) as much as it excludes lazy players. The Triangle is supposed to be extremely complex and hard to learn and it requires guys that are willing to work to learn it. The 2 guys I would be most concerned with on this team, taking that into consideration, are Felton and Bargnani (the two that IMO is the most prone for lazy mindedness and with marginal instincts).

The plan should be to stay on the path for trying to add that 2nd star in 2015. This off season should be focused on adding some temporary (1 year) pieces that can help add the intangibles necessary for winning and getting the guys that want to buy in to start working with Kerr and Jackson early on the Triangle. The Knicks as a whole needs to show up at the start of the season in much much better shape. Hopefully with the same lacadaisical training staff that that is possible.

How can the sixers get both? or did you mean exum or wiggins?

Hornets fan here.

If we select Shabazz Napier as a backup for Kemba Walker would you be interested in him running your floor with Carmelo Anthony and Phil Jackson running the triangle?

I want Hardaway Jr.

I'm ok keeping Shabazz as Kemba's backup.

I think he will be one of many steals in this draft. I think he'll have a better career than Ennis, LaVine and possibly Smart, possibly any of the PG's selected before him.

I think his trade value will be high eventually, like Bledsoe.
