This is one of the reasons I think Ihart went to OKC...MItch wants to shoot 3's as well...offense
is fun- players want to play BUT
Thibs doesnt want that from his centers...Will Thibs evolve?

Thibodeau values rebounding on offense and defense.

It's difficult to get an offensive rebound when the tallest player on your team is chucking up 3 pointers.

Spears could be right. I think right now it's really a toss up between Brunson, Maxey and George as to who is better. Maxey was awesome in that series against us last year and he is younger and has more physical gifts than Brunson. It's not hard to see him taking a leap and jumping Brunson.

What I think we can all agree on is healthy Embiid is the best player of the group, and even if Brunson is #2, Philly still has 3 of the 4 best players.

Don't kid yourself, Philly is the only team in the league right now that is running out a top-5 player with two top-15 players. If they are healthy, you don't want to face them in a playoff series.

I think it's crucial to get the #1 seed and have Boston and Philly play each other in round 2. And I think given Philly's age, depth and health concerns NY will have a better regular season record. But both squads at full health in the playoffs, Philly has the edge.

neither maxey nor PG are top 15.

Thibs let Precious and Taj shoot some threes, and they were like 25% from there. Obi also didnt shoot well his first 2 years.

Idk if Thibs didnt let Isaiah shoot threes either. He did let him shoot 8/37 last season, so it could have been partly Isaiah’s idea to focus on what he does well in a contract year this season. Now that he got paid he will prob start shooting them again.

If Kessler can become a Brook Lopez type he’d be ridiculous. Not expecting us to get him but he’s so young and has a lot of time to improve.

I don't know if that is accurate.

I just looked at Kessler shot chart.

Kessler has only taken 4 shots in the last 2 years above the charge circle.

Ihart in comparison has taken 100 shots in the last 2 years in that same area.

https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/walker-kessler-shot-chart-by-season

https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/isaiah-hartenstein-shot-chart-by-season

just look at the shot chart bubbles...kessler has all little bubbles (frequency) anywhere outside of the restricted area. Ihart has a lot of bigger ones especially in the last 3 years and is pretty efficient with that floater shot.

We just went over this **** in the finals with durrrr durrr doncic and Kyrie durrr

But just like the Celtics, the Knicks have the better player 4-9 and that’s the difference.

And another thing, as good as Maxey is, the team falls apart without Embiid.

he lost me @ a toss up between pg13 and brunson

He lost me at a tossup between Maxey and Brunson as well.

The Knicks with Brunson as #1 plus injuries and the team was able to overcome the obstacles. Maxey as #1 was leading his team from top 3 in the East all the way down to the play-in. He can't lead a team. Until he proves otherwise, he's not in the same convo as Brunson.

I don't care about how he does with Embiid being the focal point of their offense and he's benefitting off of that. Brunson doesn't have that luxury.

I believe he was using 3-10 feet, IHart was 68-118 and Kessler was 46-90.

I trust DOT's stats I just think 3-10 feet doesn't really tell the whole story if you look at the shot chart (most of those are way closer to 3 feet than 10 feet). Basically what I'm saying is Kessler shots are put backs, lobs, and dunks....he doesn't shoot any floater with any range. Kessler is basically Mitch with better touch around the basket.

Now I think Kessler has a bit more potential in the short roll than Mitch. At Auburn I think he made a couple nice passes out of that position but also not at Ihart level to operate in that short area passer range just yet but maybe he can develop there.

Your basically getting an elite rim runner and elite rim protector.

Precious most likely took most of his threes playing next to IHart, same probably applies to Taj when we were playing double bigs. I have never seen Tom allow a center to really let it fly, even with KAT he reigned in his 3 point shooting, his second lowest attempt total of his career was with Tom, and his attempts per game exploded after they fired Tom.

Kessler will never be a Brook Lopez type C, he can't make freethrows, while Brook was a 79% freethrow shooter before he started taking threes. If you can't make a wide open shot from 15 feet away I don't think you can turn into a 3 point shooter. They're saying Clingan may be able to shoot threes and I just look at his freethrow percentage as a barometer of that.

mpharris might ban me  but is there any chance Sims takes a step next season? It'll be his 4th season and he's had some nice games here and there. He's super athletic, solid rebounder, and I'm not sure what his defensive metrics are but I don't recall bitching about his defense too much. I know he doesn't have any offense besides the lops and offensive putbacks.

So can Sims make a leap? Is Nick Richards that much better?

Yeah, I was just going off of bball-ref's numbers, I agree it doesn't tell the whole story

But it does show he isn't just finishing around the rim, like guys like Mitch are exclusively in the 0-3 foot range, I think even getting out to 6 feet opens you up a lot more.

It’s much closer to a toss up than Brunson being a hands down better player. I don’t drink the cool aid, I call it as it is. You can make an argument for either one being better. I’m not saying anything other than it’s a toss up.

Ok. On to the next one. According to Spears, Maxey is clearly better than Brunson.

the best is not wanting to trade pacome dadiet...like more than half of us didn't even watch a highlight of this kid before we picked him. Not we can't move a 19 year old for a legit starting/backup center?

We are in the business of trying to win a championship and its likely that kid doesn't factor into our plans the next couple years...

I'm not saying just get rid of him to get rid of him but he certainly isn't "holding" up a deal that makes us better.

Lol I mean yeah Kessler is basically white Mitch right now, except even better as a rim protector, scores some more, healthier, and 4 years younger with more potential.

If he was raining jumpers and dropping dimes he obviously wouldn’t be available. I still don’t think he’s available really, at least not for Deuce and our other junk unless we emptied everything for him.

I would be very happy with either of them.
