And even if Kidd wants to leave Dallas, the mavs wouldn't let it happen. People forget they hit us with tampering over Brunson.

This Kidd dream is dead to me. Stein has been adamant that it's not happening.

They even got Kidd doing interviews about Cooper

from a Mavs perspective, it makes no sense to let him leave now, after the draft, and before summer league w/o having a replacement. And they let a potential replacement walk in Sean Sweeney. I'd assume Mavs would want their #1 pick, one of the best prospects (top 5?) in the last 10-15 years to be coached in summer league by the staff that he'll have rookie year

Yeah. This is dead. It's gotta be known by the Knicks at this point. All these tweets and rumors are garbage. Just like the Isola crap and that James guy. BKE can fuq off too.

Jenkins/Brown/Nori have been interviewed. Borrego should be next. Hopefully tomorrow!! Decision at some point this weekend would be nice. FA starts Monday and trade season is kicking off now. This needs to wrap up soon so we can get on with the summer.

After reading certain posts in here, I can tell it's a done deal. Kidd is coming and then Giannis will follow.

If you listen to Bagley's pod he makes a good point that every other coach the knicks requested permission to speak got an extension as well as the team publicly stating they're happy with their coach and not letting him go. All the mavs have done is deny the permission. Until Mavs come out and give him an extension, he's still in play imo

Seems pretty obvious he is the Knicks number 1 choice and everything else is a combination of covering themselves for tampering along with having options if the Mavs give him the extension. Kidd is probably using it for leverage to ask for a crazy high number that if they don't give, he can pressure them into letting him go. Otherwise he gets his fat new contract and is happy to stay coaching the Mavs.

I think it was because defense

He might've been done dirty cause that roster was terrible.

I thought this was a good read. A Hornets journalist wrote about revisiting firing Borrego last month and to sum it up: the Hornets have been a dumpster fire since they let him go.

no doubt that he was a scapegoat for much larger issues, Steve Clifford came in and that team went south quickly. Borrego had them respectable. I'd prefer him in a lead assistant role tho. I want your guy Mike Brown

Kidd is about to draft Flagg and move on with his life. Giannis talk is being pushed by Hahn so , I don't know what to say to that but, Kidd is not leaving Dallas.

Well...that goes to show Stein is a moron because Kidd signed a multi year extension last May.

Googling it, he got a new deal last May, but can't find any specifics around how much or how long. Maybe he's looking/asking for a raise - especially if through back channels the knicks have told him they're willing to be X amount more than his current deal.

can't find any details as far as how many years or how much per year.

Ime Udoka for example signed a 4 year deal in 2023 and just got an extension (and raise I believe) despite having 2 years left.

That's probably what makes it a little different with Kidd is I assume he is still trying to use the Knicks to get a bigger/longer deal than his current one - but the Mavs from their perspective feel like they don't have to if they just gave him one last year. Have to assume it was at least a 3 year extension.

not much opportunity post Lebron. In Sacramento, he did a great job just to make the playoffs and end the drought. the Lakers stint Yr 1 was not a great roster and he still went to Conf. Semi's. but I consider him a new coach post his assistant years w/ GS

Multi year and the quote said expect him to coach there for years to come. Whatever that means. He has an extension, Nothing specific but, would assume at least 3 right? There was no talk of Kidd needing an extension before we requested permission to talk to him. It's lazy reporting. The fact that he hasn't said anything about any of this leads me to believe it's dead on arrival. If it was a back door discussion he would have said something by now. IMO
