Re: The LeBron Thread
What has got into people's heads??? Joakim Noah? Luol Deng? Those are above-average players putting up decent numbers on a borderline playoff team. As for Gallinari and the rest of the Knicks young players, they are young players still trying to define their games. It doesn't matter if one is better than the other, because it only matters if Lebron thinks a particular player is a better fit next to him.
Joakim Noah? It doesn't matter if he's putting up 15-15 on a mediocre team, because on a championship level team he'ls just another Anderson Varejao. He's an energy player! For an energy player to put up the type of stats he did for the Bulls only tells you how mediocre the rest of the team is. He's like the guy in the pickup game who is scoring all the points because all his teammates suck and he keeps getting offensive putbacks off horrible shots. Chicago will overpay him because his stats look nice, and they'll forever be a 45-win team.
Somebody earlier in the thread mentioned the rarity of Gallinari's skill set, and I think that was dead on the point. For those who are not aware, Gallinari is basically on the career arc of Rashard Lewis. I think he's got more potential than Rashard, but the main point is that a player with his kind of skill set is very rare in the NBA. I can't think of more than 5 players in the NBA who possess similar skill set (length, agility, and range) but I can definitely come up with 20 players who will hustle and give me defense and rebounding.
Noah is probably a better player than Gallinari, but he's also easier to replace than Gallinari is. Gallinari is not an all-star, but he is a mismatch waiting to happen if he's playing with a superstar (or 2 maybe??? lol). He's basically Lamar Odom for the Lakers and Rashard Lewis for the Magic - he can tilt the balance of a game because of his skill set. Come on Bulls fans quit hating on our players. You guys have good players. Players who are good enough to win 40-45 games ever year and maybe even 2nd round every once awhile. But mismatches are what make a contender. Bulls just don't have anybody that can do that.

Funny you mentioned this. I used to laugh at Perkins on the Celtics, but look at him now...

I have said that sooooooo many times lol. I think I might be the one you mentioned in your post when it came to talking about Gallo's rarity. You don't come across a player like Gallinari that easy, whereas with Noah, there are so many people like him, and there is probably a lot better.

Of course you do, because you are a Bulls fan. Sooner? Perhaps.
But a Bosh/LeBron/Gallinari nucleus would be young and super, super talented. It would be mighty easy to find pieces that would fit around that nucleus.

Finding a similar player to Eddy Curry is also a rarity. It doesn't mean anything.

He's not an Allstar yet. But he certainly has that potential and he is matching vets like Rashard and ODOM right now. If the Magic had Rashard in his prime I think they would still be playing now. If BRON and BOSH sign in NY they will all be hitting their primes at roughly the same time - that could be devastating....
That is the thing about this Knicks team, almost every single player is bound to get significantly better in 2-3 years, no other team outside of maybe the Thunder can say that. When you a looking for a dynasty, that's what you look for.

Yea it's really simple. A lineup of Defensive Big + Bosh + Gallinair + Chandler + LeBron = Mismatch
Noah + Gibson + LeBron + Deng + Rose = 60 win and playoff flameout because their players can't create any mismatches.

Yeah, you're right about us being a team of the future. People really do underestimate our talent, but I'm okay with that. All we know is the LEBRON is interested in our players. (him keeping an eye on gallo throughout the season and him approaching him at the end of the game at the garden). I don't wanna be one of those fans that picks at everything Lebron does, but some of this stuff is obvious and all fingers are pointing at the Knicks for his next stop

LMAO. Fellas...again, i live in the tri-state area but try and follow bball as a sport and not just one squad. I like both the Nets and Knicks since I live here but I really just enjoy the game.
I was round when the bomb squad was here...tucker, Newman, MJax, and Wilkins. I was surprised that Riles let XMan walk and traded MJax for Rivers and Smith. I was saddened to see Petro die and watch Coleman and Anderson force themselves out of NJ. I can remember the Knicks slowly getting good in Jackson's first two seasons when they made the playoffs under Pitino. I remember thinking Chris Childs would bring the Knicks up to the same level as the Bulls...LMAO. I too believed that the Knicks team that lost to the Heat because of the unneccessary suspension of Ewing and company during the playoffs...I believed that Knick team was good enough to beat the bulls that year.
So no man, I'm no troll. I see it how it is....as a bball fan.

...and just for good measure...I remember on one April fool's day, MSG running a story that Walt Frazier was training to make a comeback. They had Clyde in the Knick Uni, running laps, shooting jumpers making it believable. I remember falling out of my chain in laughter knowing it was an April Fool's joke. LMAO. I doubt many of you even remember this.
Yeah man, I'm not here to bash the Knicks. Just trying to get you peepz to give credit to those other teams that deserve as much credit as your beloved Chandler/Gallo/Douglas, and why all those people who say there's better talent on other squads might just be right.

I love that lineup our pg is 6'9 and no ones under 6'7? (not sure how tall Chandler is). mismatches everywhere and if we play a speedy pg like rondo we could start Douglas at the two and guard him

You're overly enamored with Derrick Rose. I like him but he's a non-pure PG who shoots first, doesn't defend, and can't even take (let alone make) a 3. He's got a long ways to go and he's a strange fit with LeBron.
Don't take our word for it. Visit ESPN, which usually hates the Knicks, and you'll read at least two or three different articles putting Rose near the bottom of the potential teammates for LeBron. Bosh was number 1. Even Lee was way ahead of Rose in one of them.
Rose has great layup skills and has become a proficient pull-up shooter. Let's not make him out to be Carmelo Anthony, however. There are other points who are better and more polished and let's not forget that it's really not ideal to have your point guard be your best scorer. In fact, it's quite problematic I think.
And the fact of the matter is that neither LeBron NOR Rose likes to or has proven he can play off the ball. Now I think LeBron could still thrive off the ball but do you really think that's how he wants to play?
Give up on the Bulls thing. You're just going to be disappointed in the end, honestly. And don't blame Knicks fans for telling you the truth. It's ESPN and their ignoramuses who you have to thank for starting the whole thing out of thin air and promoting false hopes.
And truthfully, it just shows you why LeBron likes the idea of NYC: Even when we haven't had a good team, we're important and intimidating enough for the haters to target us. They're shivering at the mere thought of LeBron in MSG with a guy as good as Bosh. This in essence describes why LeBron is intrigued in the first place: He knows that he's the biggest, best, baddest athlete in the world and NYC is the biggest, best, baddest city in the world.
Starting to see the match made in heaven thing here? He's not going to cash that in so he can play with a talented but ball-dominant PG, in the Midwest, with Michael Jordan's shadow on him every waking hour of every day.
Let it go. It's not happening.

Anyway, for NY to have a good team would be welcome...no doubt. But the NBA seems to have gotten by real well since 1973.

ROBBIE CANO...DON'T'CHA KNOW!
Any do yourselves a favor...since the nets came into the league, count-up the amount of losing both the Nets and Knicks have had...and you'll see how truly unimportant it is for the NBA to have a good team in this area. Would it be a bonus? Of course. But again, it's about the facts...and the Knicks haven't been that much better than the Nets since the Nets officially became an NBA team....and yet, the league has thrived despite some down years.

Kevin Russo reminds me a whole lot of Randy Velarde. Oh wait...this is a Knicks forum....but I'm sure many of you are Yanks fans too.
As for the Nets and Knicks again...I do believe both these teams deserve a star. It would be great. But as a bball fan, Im' hoping both teams are built the right way at some point. Other teams have done it...these two organizations should be able to too.

Re: The LeBron Thread
Just from an observational standpoint, KnicksGod, it sounds like you're the only person on this forum trying to psych yourself out of believing that the Bulls do in fact have a chance at getting Lebron. I don't know why that is really to be honest. You take everything about the Bulls and find a way to make it negative, but twist everything about the Knicks and turn it into a positive.
Nevertheless, I'm curious to know what your thoughts are about this video with Larry King. To me it doesn't sound like the Bulls are out of the picture. If anything, it seems like he admires what MJ accomplished and considers how popular he made the Bulls around the world. Do you not believe that Lebron sees how him playing for the Bulls would only increase their already huge fanbase and his popularity around the world? I take it as LBJ picturing himself in the same shoes as MJ as a franchise player on the Bulls. Ever think that him being a Bulls fanatic growing up might play a part in his decision? I mean now he has the opportunity to really "be like Mike." Play in the same building, wear the jersey, win multiple championships, be adored and celebrated around the world....just like MJ. Honestly, LBJ says he wants to join a good team. He's played against the Bulls in the regular season and in the playoffs and he knows that the team is competitive and can win. I feel like he thinks that if he can come to the Bulls he can help them get over the hump and be contenders, not wait a couple of years for his teammates around him to develop.
Finally, this argument about D.Rose being ball dominant is off base. He had to play that way because no one else had the balls to step up every night and lead the team. Everyone else deferred to him. In fact, Kobe TOLD him that he should play that way for the team to be able to win. If D. Rose had his wish he would rather be a distributor rather than a "ball dominant guard."
Here's the video http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5238743

Finally, this argument about D.Rose being ball dominant is off base. He had to play that way because no one else had the balls to step up every night and lead the team. Everyone else deferred to him. In fact, Kobe TOLD him that he should play that way for the team to be able to win. If D. Rose had his wish he would rather be a distributor rather than a "ball dominant guard."

"I take it very seriously, knowing my opponent really wants to come at me. It's not just God's gifts. You have to work at this game. If not, you're just going to be average. You have to want it and do whatever you have to do to get it."-D.Rose
