Team Option for next season I believe, we could even not pick up his option next season if we wanted to.

No Billups has a partially guaranteed contract for next year. $3.7 million of it. He would need to be cut right after the season ended to take advantage of that. -Jitpal

Can make a solid playoff run with Billups as our PG this season, then have cap room for a Paul or Dwill in 2012.
I dont like the way Felton is playing at all, I think he tries to be a hero too much. Felton is trying to be too much of a hero lately and its turning me off.
I like Felton but I do feel he tries to do too much sometimes. I think it's also the fact that the PG gets so much leeway and control in this offense and that is compounded with the fact Felton played in such a controlled environment that was the total opposite of what this is. Felton is literally that kid in the candystore who has gone buckwild.

absolutely. he was really playing well and playing within our system until around january, when his name popped up in allstar reserve talks, ever since then hes been playing selfish trying to get 25 pts a night.

I just think we are getting put through the rigmarole with Denver and in the end they will put out requirements that we won't be able to accept. I bet the back breaker will be that we have to take on Al Harrington as part of the deal (which kills the CP3 dream).
Then they'll say sorry Melo we tried but they just didn't want you bad enough. I have a feeling Dolan is going to be calling a press conference like Prokhorov sometime in the next couple of weeks.
Then the ball will be firmly in Melo's court (no pun intended).

Ric Bucher is one of the least informed ESPN "insiders" they have, so I wouldn't put a ton of weight on the Nuggets asking for half of the Knicks roster like he said on Sportscenter.

I don't James Dolan has the cajones to do what Prokorhov did.
Even if what Proko did turns out to be a smokescreen.

What the hell happened in here?
You guys went nutz on eachother
First of all, Nene ain't coming here.
If they want Felton for Billups and DW pulls the trigger - I could live with that. Still don't believe DW would do it nor do we have to do it.
Take it easy on Pharmcat- geez, he's still a knick fan
And do we have to talk about squirrel tasting? (insert the vomit emoticon)
And finally, why haven't any of you brought up the 22.3 million in savings?

As an aside I don't know if this has been discussed about Kroenke:
I wonder what will happen with that? I don't know if he can sell/gift it to his kid. But if you think $23 million is a lot the tax implications of gifting the teams to his kid are ridiculous. I imagine they are going to have to be looking to sell. I think that puts some big time spin on all of this.
In 2010, Kroenke exercised his right of first refusal to buy the remaining interest in the St. Louis Rams. [2] On August 25, 2010, he became full owner of the Rams by unanimous consent of the NFL. To gain approval from NFL owners, Kroenke agreed to turn over control of the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche to his son, Josh, by the end of 2010, and he must give up his majority stake in both teams by December 2014. The NFL does not allow its owners to hold majority control of major league teams in other NFL cities.[3]

After thinking about it, if we can retain Fields, Mozgov, and one of Gallo or Chandler, I'd be down for giving up Felton for Billups.
Gives us enough pieces to still be competitive over two years, and gives us the flexibility to still trade for Paul or Deron in 2011 or get them in FA by 2012.

Honestly, I have no problem giving up Felton and Azu, Turiaf, those types of contracts for Billups, Anderson, and even Free Candy. I mean if we REALLY need to take back Harrington instead of giving up Fields, Gallo and Mosgov. We're not going to get Chris Paul if we trade for Anthony anyway because Anthony and Amare will take up most of the cap space.

I like Felton but i have no problem shipping him for Billups... neither are going to be long term solutions and Billups comes with Melo and proven leadership.... I wouldn't mind that at all.

According to SAS it's 2 of 4, expiring, 1st rounder and cash consideration. He says Felton is out there to get rid of Billups salary. That's what Denver is looking for. Realistically speaking there isn't much of a chasm.
1 of 4, 1st rounder, tpe and cash. I think that chasm can be made up with something like Walker + 1st or something. Felton for Billups if necessary. -Jitpal

Bucher on SAS now:
- D'Antoni's recent comments make him believe that the coach is on the hot seat. The Knicks early success is to blame for the current expectations.
- Bucher and SAS are both saying Melo is pissed this is taking this long. Melo feels like all things being equal he wants to be in NY otherwise he might look at other options.
- Bucher doesn't think that NJ deal would ever have gotten done. Melo didn't want NJ. He feels the leaked details created a false standard and no team can meet that deal. The put themselves in a corner because whatever they get won't be worth Melo or the rumored NJ deal.
- Bucher feels 50-50 Melo in NY by deadline. SAS said more than 75-25...he's sure.
- Bucher also said that Walsh is in the hot seat. -Jitpal

Sorry for quoting myself but I did a little more work on this.
http://www.forbes.com/lists/2010/32/bas ... 24980.html
So the Denver Nuggets valuation is 310 million dollars. Now suppose they lose Melo and the franchise takes a hit similar to the Cavaliers who dropped 26% in value year-over-year. Let's just say they drop 20% in value. That would be about 64 million dollars. Given their position where they have to sell the team it would seem clear that priority #1 is resigning Melo (no captain obvious images please). Maybe they've done some calculus where they figured out that if they lose Melo via trade or free agency they are equally screwed so they might as well try to keep him.
Their top priority has to be sell the team more than build a championship given the 2014 date. I wonder how much of that factors in to Melo's desire to get out of there (if at all).
Play time is over.
