It doesn't matter if Lin asks not to match or not. If we really want him, we will match, simple as that. See Eric Gordon and Nick Batum. Those guys are way more vocal than Lin about not wanting to go back to their original teams but their teams match regardless.

Woodson already just anointed Lin the starting PG

how can 2 days later Knicks go from "he's starting" to "we're not matching" ???

I don't get why this means we're not signing Lin. We got rid of useless Gadzuric, and Jared Jeffries (who I'll miss but isn't a big deal) for a solid guard (Ray Felton) and another big man (although hes almost 40 and probably can't do much).

Why can't we sign Lin because of this? The media is overhyping it. I believe we'll match Lin and have awesome depth. It's a good move regardless.

Felton should have thought this one through. Dude will be booed right out of MSG if Lin is gone. He will be given Joe Pa treatment but he's still alive.

I may be late (still on page 44 of this thread), but Kurt Thomas?? Isn't he 40 yrs old?

Kidd, Camby & Thomas? That's 3 rotation players 38 yrs or old. I'm torn about losing Jeffries. He was a great teammate, a very mobile defensive big for us, and was the only player capable of drawing charges. I have no clue what Thomas still has left in the tank.

And Felton, Camby & Thomas back means 3 former Knicks have rejoined the club. If Felton deal is for 3 year (I don't know, remember I'm still page 44), and Dolan cares about luxury taxes, then it looks like Lin won't be matched.

I'll wait until the 71th hours after NY receives Lin's offer sheet to make my judgement of the Knicks off-season. Tomorrow's VSL game interview should be interesting.
It's hard being a Knicks fan...
