Rodney Hood is mad overrated. His offensive game is very clunky.

he's also about to get paid. We should not be trading for players about to reach FA....

I don't think anyone considers him a star or anything so i don't think he's all that overrated. He'd be a nice piece for us cause we could use his shooting and athleticism at the SF spot. I don't think anyone thinks he's our missing piece for a title run or anything but he sure would help for a playoff run while we keep building. He's damn sure better than Dougie.

That's a good point though. What do you think he'll get? Timmy money? More?

probably at least close...i would think somewhere at least starting 15 million...and I think we aren't in a position to pay him that.

correct which means other teams can offer him a contract (like timmy) and we would probably have to overpay to keep him.

He would certainly help spread the floor. 39% from 3 isn't bad (on 7 threes per game). If we tank for the rest of the season, we'll also get a possible top 10 pick. If we can't draft Mikal Bridges, we should be able to certainly reach Myles Bridges if not another top SF.

We should probably have get a clue from his agent what he'd be looking for in a new contract and whether he has interest in the Knicks.

Exactly. I'd like us to acquire him, but he's not saving us. He fits what I'd like the team to do.

This is literally zero obligation to move Willy
And I have no interest in trading an asset for a player who might get offered a significant chunk of change and who we either have to match or lose

No

Willy has value and his value to this team is still undecided. Is it as a trade asset or as a player?
I actually think it’s as a player.

But if we move him let’s not automatically undersell

what about this idea

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y89ocq26

KOQ, Courtney Lee, and Lance Thomas

for

Kelly Oubre and Ian Mahinmi

Yes, we take on a horrible contract in Mahinmi but rid Lance's as well which could be more palatable for the Wiz. The wiz get solid production from Lee and a big upgrade with there backup center.

We get a young wing that has the potential to break out still on his rookie deal.

I like the idea/framework but I think the Wiz aren't going to move Oubre. They'd probably rather give us their pick lottery-protected this year which would obviously most likely convey. Switch Oubre with Tim Frazier and include a 1st and that's a deal I could get behind.

nah I'm not taking Mahinmi contract for one non lottery 1st rounder. That contract is Noah type bad and if your the wiz your basically replacing 1 good young bench piece with more vet bench pieces but they are already over the tax line and when Oubre gets to FA they can't pay him anyway.

They rid there most albatross contract but don't take a hit over the next year or two production wise. I think it makes sense for them because they are paying wall, beal, and porter huge $$$ they can't pay oubre either.

the last thing we need is another center but Im ok with either deal

Mahinmi will offset some of the loss of KOQ's defense and a guy like Oubre has some potential still

Yea the Wizards value Oubre way too much. I would keep KOQ. Those guys have way too many centers anyway. Maybe see if they would bite on Lee for a 1st. And Thomas. Those 2 guys would help their team so much. They could probably use Beasley too, I think, since their bench production sucks.
