Last thought.

These players - all of them. Ja, RJ, Reddish etc, are getting drafted at 19 or a young 20. That's really f*cking young.

This is the debate over how much is there from the jump, and how much do players have to develop, either on their own, or in combination with the team.

I'm leaning that in the NBA, players either establish themselves early most of the time, or they don't.

Yet RJ has taken what is clearly a steady developmental uptick.
Ja was dynamic right away.

Maybe with Cam there is more to develop. I mean, players used to have to stay in college until age 22 and then it took until after their rookie year, and age 23, to start to put it together.

Again, it would be great for it work out.
Didn't with Mudiay or Mario, maybe 3rd time is the charm.

I know the Knick want to win and in spite of how Burks annoys some, he's pretty valuable in certain ways, to the team.

That said, Knicks need to get rid of at least Burks to ensure Reddish gets enough playing time, now that they've decided to use a #1 pick and a roster spot on him for this year and next year.

Ok. F*ck it. Can't resist one last post.

RJ is a leader.
RJ may or may not have certain flaws that are unfixable.
But he's a leader. Sets an example.

Knicks are going to get Zion.
And while Zion and Cam are more talented than RJ, RJ will be the leader of the team.
And he will get Cam serious and focused
And he will get Zion serious about conditioning and eating right
And the Knicks will be good.

At least this avi is wicked hot, as opposed to the last one, which was wicked ugly LOL

Anyone crying about this bugging. There isn't a wing with the physical profile on the Knicks in the same tier as Cam. RJ will be in his ear about what Thibs expects. RJ is what will make this work as he will be Cams guide to Thibs and what he wants. Cam will listen to what RJ has to say.

one thing that shouldn't go unnoticed is that he played great in the playoffs. something that our best players couldn't do. he shot 53.5% from the field and 46.4% from 3 against the champions. so he has the ability to play under pressure, which is what we need. just needs to stay locked in.

Interesting to consider that the age Cam Reddish is right now a few months younger than Mikal Bridges was as a rookie if we are to draw a comparison for him that the Knicks could really use as far as a mold of player in their rotation

There aren't alot of players 21/22 that have multiple 30pt games this season and Cam is one of them, and another? RJ leads the way in this category

After going over a bunch of videos, scouting reports and breakdowns on Reddish these are my assessments of his overall game.

Offensive Stength

On the offensive end this kid has all the moves and counters in the bag. He uses jabs, step backs, euro steps and hesitations in a controlled and fundamental way to get the space he needs. His handle is above average for his size as well and has no problem creating his own shot. Can get to the basket at will with his combination of size, strength, handle and good first step. Can get creative finishing and has the athleticism to throw it down on someone. Shot is smooth and quick release with little problem on close outs. He is a good passer when he wants to be and knows how to find the open man off the dribble or swing.

Offensive Weakness

Knowing he has a full arsenal of moves sometimes he does too much and can get iso happy. He will try to take and make everything instead of letting the game come to him. Cam is atrocious in the mid range. He gets caught between taking it to the basket and leads to some terrible looking shots due to his hesitation. He often takes his shots off balance instead of going straight up which results in tougher shots and poorer percentages than need be. He can be soft at times taking the ball to the basket and trying to finesse his way in instead of going up strong. Doesn't draw many fouls doing this so he doesn't get to the line often enough.

Defense Strengths

Uses his length well to get steals and deflection on and off ball. Has good lateral quickness to stay in front of quicker guards and contests well. Has the athleticism to quickly recover if he gets beat and stay in the play. Can lock down when fully engaged and has a ton of potential on this side of the court.

Defensive Weakness

Not always locked in and can get lackadaisical from time to time. Will get beat overcommiting trying to get a steal. For his size and athletic ability Cam gets far fewer rebounds than he should.

Mental

It seems to me Cam and RJ are in the same mental spot right now. While it looks like RJ is figuring things out over the last month, Cam is still a little behind in this department. Some nights he will come out firing with a ton of confidence and others he will settle for being a background figure. Needs to find his balance of controlled aggressiveness. Has all the tools to be a 2 way all star, he just has to believe that on a nightly basis.

whether you like or dislike cam is irrelevant ( Im not a particular fan) they got to take a flyer on a talented player for a year and a half and all it cost them was a lottery protected first. I dont believe anybodys saying this move makes us a contender but at the least it nets us another young player for cheap.

I agree. The crying is ridiculous. We filled a need and of course people want to cry. Knox is trash and Thibs wouldn’t care about 2 draft picks next year in a bad draft. We fill a need and if he explodes, we have his rights.

Anybody crying must want us to be running around with 6’5 and under team with no length besides RJ and RJ looks small.

Stop crying

I think there is a chance he might, he wanted out of ATL because he felt like he wasn't getting enough minutes while averaging 23mpg..

So unless the Knicks also plan to piss him off for the same reason, I think he'd almost have to start no?

Yeah I don’t like their fit unless RJ is back to being a regular 40% 3 point shooter
