What’s worse is that we ultimately gave power to Mikal Bridges, a role player. By trading 5 picks for him and needing to resign him, he’s basically got the front office by the balls and they are jumping through hoops to try to accommodate his wishes. If you think it’s bad now, wait until we negotiate his next deal.

The Mikal trade was bad but we didn’t know how bad at the time.

Yikes!

Do yall know how often this happens?? This is nothing more than Knicks for clicks because the Finals are bringing in historical low ratings so they have to talk about something.

Before ultimately getting Doc Rivers, the Clippers were denied to speaking with him.
The Nets went after a few coaches and were denied before getting Kidd

We're reading too much into this and getting antsy because the FO are doing their due diligence. **** do more.. ask for SPO as well. If you are looking for the best coach, you leave no stone unturned. You never know what you may can negotiate.

We got denied permission for Udoka, kidd, finch. We’re only going after coaches that are under contract

And now there’s a rumor we’re going to settle for Mike Brown.

Realizing im getting too old for all this sht. That playoff run wore me tf out.

Im prepared for the worst and will keep my expectations low. Would be a very knicksian thing to fire thibs only to end up with a worse coach. But I respect the hustle if they truly believed that thibs couldnt get to the pinnacle. Would have been real easy to keep riding with thibs and 2nd round exits.

Im just still really skeptical of this regime even if they've been highly successful. They've mad some really questionable moves. Which leads to some skepticism that they'll get this one right.

Also the knicks for clicks is going off right now. So much contradictory information.

That’s exactly what’s happening… Media jumped at the chance for lol Knicks again and everyone falling for it

He might be a snake. Don’t be surprised if he also complained about Rick Brunson being on the coaching staff. Something about him is just so off and I don’t like him either. Not just his game which is soft but I think his personality is shady af

I think Mikal should be traded to add more depth but why is he being singled out when all reports indicate multiple Knicks threw Tom to the Wolves? Deuce literally let off the first shot after we lost, in public at that.

I feel like people are just making up their own narratives.

"Dolan fired Thibs unilaterally"

"Mikal has the front office by the balls and they fired Thibs because of him."

I've seen zero credible reporting that any of this is true.

This is obvious that Dolan was brought into the meetings cause he would haev to pay out 30 million. But it doesnt fit the narrative of chaos and the knciks world is burning down. Franchise is being treated as if they lost in the play in to the hawks.

I don't think many of us are Dolan supporters so no one is making excuses for him. we love that he's not with the team. But you're right and they're right. If he has to eat 30 million and Thibs just got us to the ECF why in the hell wouldn't he be involved???

It wasn't just "$30 million" either - it was an unopened, factory sealed $30 million.

The three year extension was completely unused. You definitely need permission to throw that away.

Mikal has been complaining all year. Nobody cares what Deuce has to say he has no power. The guy you traded 5 picks for and absolutely must resign to not embarrass yourself further has more influence in your decisions. Again, nobody cares what Deuce has to say but they are listening to the whining by Mikal. If he’s not happy then you have to trade him but you aren’t getting anything close to the package you gave up to get him so the last thing you want is for him to not only want out but dictate where he wants to go. He has leverage

I don't like Carlisle but he's a genius and this is what I want from the next Knicks coach

Incredibly brilliant X and Os...

Not just Thibby's JB iso iso iso :banghead:

I think Bryant can potentially be this

Or Leon was 1 step ahead and knew all this time they'd get denied permission by the Mavs and he was never their #1

Just a total smokescreen to lowball Bryant
How is Bryant getting lowballed? He can ask for the moon now.

By not having him in publicly rumored discussion, he thinks he's not in the running or at the bottom of our consideration list...

If you're trying to be a hc for the first time, and a Knicks job is available, it's maybe a once in a lifetime opportunity just as he's ascending to be a hc... from this perspective he is the one that has more to lose.

I mean let's face it if JB was a can't miss coach prospect, teams like the Wizards, or even Bucks or Blazers would fire their coaches Doc/ Chauncey to hire him, but he's not. He may be up and coming but the reality is he just got passed over for another assistant on his same Cavs team, which unfairly but basically says he's not even their top assistant.

If the Knicks suddenly reach out to him and offer him $5 mil per instead of the $10-12 mil per top coaches command thesedays, he is really in no position to turn it down. A position in a big market, with a championship-worthy/ready roster (it's not like he has to grind it out on a team like the Wizards, a blemish to his coaching record to start if they don't make playoffs for the next few years), a real chance to make a name for himself, even if we don't make the Finals, I think he can EASILY improve on our 51 win record. That in itself would be a good start to ANY coaching career.

Capn'O wrote:Regarding Jenkins, he's kind of like a reverse Thibs (in terms of style) where people have essays against what he does but he gets results.

I like TJ too... like Bill Simmons said everytime I watched the Grizzlies in years past, I couldn't help but think it's a well coached team. They tweaked things by having less screens with Ja which was not TJ's doing.
He just has to wait in that scenario. We don't need to lowball.him, especially if these coaching rumours keep failing. That drives his price.up.

god shammgod wrote:So shams made up the Knicks asking for permission to multiple coaches to troll Knick fans ?

I don't know the answer to that. No one outside of the real loop does. However, here are 2 alternate theories.

1.) It was reported yesterday that the KNICKS' front office frequently calls other teams and proposes multiple mock trades just to feel out possible options for the future.

Asking a team what they would give up if (for example) Brunson were made available doesn't mean they're ready to trade Brunson. Instead, it provides them with pure information. Now, that might not be how you or I would operate, but apparently they do. And, it's at least possible they're doing that now, too.

*

2.) What if (for example) Dave Bliss or Johnnie Bryant was the actual coaching target? It's possible (especially seeing the reactions from this board) that certain fans would HATE the choice and drag Leon through the mud for failing to consider or even try to obtain other veteran options.

IF reports that Leon was denied permission to speak to Kidd, Udoku, and Finch are true, Leon could negate almost all negative press against Coach Bliss or Coach Bryant (for example) by the "I'll-Show-You-Better-Than-I-Can-Tell-You" method. Or, in other words, get ahead of the fanbase by asking to speak to coaches he knows he can't get, getting denied, then (once it looks like all options are exhausted) hiring the person he really wanted all along.

I'm not saying ANY of this is true or actually happened. I'm just providing a different perspective from what we're all being fed as fact when the rumors are probably just trash.
