If we select Shabazz Napier as a backup for Kemba Walker would you be interested in him running your floor with Carmelo Anthony and Phil Jackson running the triangle?

I want Hardaway Jr.

I'm ok keeping Shabazz as Kemba's backup.

I think he will be one of many steals in this draft. I think he'll have a better career than Ennis, LaVine and possibly Smart, possibly any of the PG's selected before him.

I think his trade value will be high eventually, like Bledsoe.

We would have to take on smith too. I wouldn't mind. At least he would have attempted a 3 in the heat series.
What do you guys want for THjr and Smith.

We only need one SG who can shoot and Hardaway Jr is the guy I'd target for Shabazz. If they want to dump Felton, I'm dumping Henderson. Neal expires, Felton does not and he sucks real bad. I warned my best friend (Knicks fan) he would hate Felton a long time ago. I watched his BS dribbling into traffic one-speed no-skill junk long enough. I warred with other fans arguing DJ Augustin should start. Look at Augustin now. He was always more talented, just his work ethic lagged behind his skill. He was like 20 as a Bobcat.

You guys can have both JR and Felton for free. Just hand over an expiring deal and we good 8-)
No to Timmy though.

Felton THjr for Neal and 1st seems fair for both sides

The deal should favor the team with the leverage and since the Knicks don't have a viable PG, the leverage would be with Charlotte. I think the simplest deal is Hardaway Jr for Shabazz. That's about even. When you dump a long term deal like Felton the deal favors the Knicks and the knicks wouldn't have leverage.

no thank you

While I absolutely agree with the dumping of Felton to be a clear negative...to be quite fair, as much as Napier has generated a buzz this past season, there is a reason why many mocks have him as a late 1st round pick instead of what his college performance (best player on best team) would indicate he should be (i.e. top part of lottery). Napier could turn out to be solid. He could also turn out to be the next Mateen Cleaves. It's not hard to argue that Hardaway Jr was the 5th best rookie this past season and in a redo of last years draft would clearly be a lottery pick.

Shabazz is a leader - he just led a team through consecutive multiple high stakes games, two of which were played before nearly 20K in MSG. He's played big games 4 years straight now in MSG in the Big East tournament. He rose up from a tough neighborhood and basically dominated college basketball, improving his skills every year and devoting himself to hard work. The UConn program instills this in all their student-athletes.

He's very coachable for the triangle and can pass and hit a deep shot like Hardaway Jr.

You'd be asking him to play more of a support role.

I think he's a perfect fit for the Knicks and a steal.

I've seen some mocks with him at 12 or 17 or 22. This might be all a moot point because he might even reach 24. If he doesn't slip to 24, I wouldn't expect the Knicks to trade Hardaway Jr for pick 24, but if Shabazz is there, the Knicks should go all in and teach Shabazz the triangle from a young age and groom him as a floor general. Just like the Yankees, you need guys with strong character in the NYC market. It takes a special player to make it in NY.

Food for thought.

Timmy under Phil could be special....
Will not trade him for a late 1st rounder.

The only deal I'd make for THjr is one that sheds Felton and adds another prospect. This Charlotte fan talking about taking on contracts is out of his mind. The have no leverage we dont really need to make any moves. Just ones that clearly benefit us.

Yep. And this is coming from a guy (me) that hated the Hardaway pick. But boy has Hardaway proven me wrong. He looked better his rookie year with the Knicks than he did at any point at Michigan. That's not an easy thing to achieve. His defense still needs a lot of work his size, his ability to finish, his shooting and his confidence are exactly what you want from a young player.

shouldn't we wait and see how the felton trial works out 1st before we try to offload him? that being said our only other "problem" contract is jr and with the way both portland and memphis got bounced this postseason i think a decent bench scorer mightnt be that hard to trade

Do any of you know anything about Ricky Ledo? I'm still intrigued by him and think he'd be perfect not only in the triangle but next to Anthony as well.

Ready to start posting some hardcore trade proposals.
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=m8j89o8

Knicks acquire: Kevin Love, Steven Adams, Kendrick Perkins, Kevin Martin & Hasheem Thabeet

Timberwolves acquire: Reggie Jackson, JR Smith, Andrea Bargnani, Perry Jones & Tyson Chandler

Thunder acquire: Nikola Pekovic, Iman Shumpert & Raymond Felton

Knicks would have money to add Rondo to the team when Loves opts out.
Rondo, Hardaway Jr, Melo, Love & Adams

Timberwolves reboot & try going the Dragic/Bledsoe route with Rubio & Jackson. Add expirings to help the reboot plus JR at 2 more seasons is better than Kevin at 3 more.

Thunder creates beastly defensive duo in Ibaka/Pek. Nice backcourt duo with Westbrook/Shump as well.

Good luck with that for Billy King. Deron Williams has 3 years left on his contract that pays him over $20 million a year, has bad ankles that could require surgery and has been on the decline for 3 seasons already.

This belongs in some kind of draft thread but the guy I want is Anderson. He can be our do it all guy off the bench.

Not that I'd do JR/Tim for Hendo/1st... but if we traded for Henderson using JR, then we wouldn't be losing any cap space in 2015 (we'd actually get like $0.8 mil more). If they were to take back Felton too, it'd be much better... but I think Tim has proven to be at least be a top 10 player from last year's draft... so I don't think it's smart to trade him for another late pick (because honestly the odds of hitting a home run again are too low).

I'm really curious as to how you have Adams (who has proven to be valuable) going to the Knicks in this, when Minny is clearly the one getting screwed. My point is, it's really bad for Minny... but if you send Adams to the Wolves, it because a bit better.

I think the main reason it's bad for Minny (besides the obvious fact that they lose the 2 best players in the trade haha) is the players they're getting aren't that valuable to them. Like Tyson and Jackson are pretty valuable players... but Minny wouldn't be able to maximize Reggie with Rubio there and they don't need what Tyson brings because they'd be a non-playoff team for sure. If you were to flip Tyson for a 1st rounder and maybe cap relief by way of a 3rd team and involved a Reggie for top 10 pick swap, while also sending Adams to Minny... it's a lot better.

And I'm curious, how about just:
NY gets Jackson, Adams, Perkins, Jones, and Thabeet
OKC gets Tyson, JR, Shumpert and Felton

Idk I mentioned a Tyson for Jackson, Perkins trades on the Trades forum last week and got told it was awful.

Return to New York Knicks
