Rooney is top 3 in the world and we have some serious studs but im so pissed that Emile Heskey is partnering Rooney upfront this tool cant get a game for his home team Villa. Watch out for my boy Aaron Lennon one of the fastest players in the world!

USA has some serious athletisim so im expecting a great pace fast similar to the premiership and I will go for England 2 Usa 1. I would want England to put a beating on the USA (im actually rooting for USA after England for my sons sake) just to let everyone in the world cup know were serious. Will be honest though lol about 45 mins before kick off and im getting nervous USA has come along way in short time.

I've made fun of Heskey quite a bit in my time, but he's a good match for Rooney who's a false nine. Heskey gives them that big strong hold up striker who'll get the ball deep and be able to hold it long enough for the support to arrive and is a good passer who'll find the man making the right run. He's easily a better match than Defoe, who I do like quite a bit.

And Heskey did exactly like you said for England's goal.

Its amazing how this dude has made a career off of it. You would think more big strikers would learn to efficiently hold up the ball.

Decent match so far. USA playing pretty well, lots of possession time but no results... Rooney has been pretty invisible so far..

He's going to have to leave the country if this possible draw costs them from advancing in group play.

Getting a little nervous here...hopefully we don't give up anything more since we can't seem to maintain a possession for any good period of time this half.

94 World Cup: USA vs Colombia. I remember that game even though i was only 7 years old. His name was Andres Escobar who scored an own goal then when Colombia went home, he got shot 12 times.

Didn't Greece do really well in qualifying? Like win the group over some good teams?

They won the group but they had the easiest group than any other team unless you consider the Swiss and Israel "good" teams......They failed to qualify for the 06 WC losing to Albania 2-1 in their first competitive match after winning the Euro *flex*.....they blew in Euro '08 they were the worst team in the whole campaign, not efven scoring a goal, and it looks like they will face the same results this WC

AS for England-USA good result for the U.S lucky but good nonetheless......Howard continues to prove hes a great GK, S. Cherundolo was also great, Bradley, Donovan, and Dempsey werent great @ all if they played this game again the result could be 3-0 in favor of England....

cant wait till tomorrow Germany-Australia, Germany will be on the attack and be laying bombs to Australia's bunker style of football, Ghana-Serbia should prove to be a good match too

They don't suck dick, their coach does.

I follow the team. The team he fielded today was simply awful. This guy is an awful coach. Think Isiah Thomas and Don Chaney rolled into one. He picks favorites and not the better player. Half of our really talented, really good players were benched in favor of garbage players who aren't even starters on their own teams.

It's a disgrace, really. Our coach embarrassed on the world stage and we will get ass-raped against Argentina as well.

So that's why you went bananas on me, when I was talking about the demise of Greece. :o

I dont remember who was talking **** about michael bradley, but he was fantastic today. He man marked the hell out of Lampard, and was great in distribution. Clark on the other hand was abysmal.

I'll root for the USA as long as we are in it. I <B Tim Howard.

I also like Brasil (because I've studied the language and the culture and spent time down there) and Argentina (hate their coach, but I love Messi). I think Brasil is going to be much more likable this year. They did a great job weeding out the elderly primadonnas from the squad and are reported to be truly playing as a team.

I basically share NLR's feelings. I tend to like Southern Europe over Northern Europe (though Holland is cool with me with their awesome passing game and crazy names). Tend to like South America over Europe. I like the South Koreans and think they are very underrated.

Rooting against England (arrogance, BP Karma), Germany (Jewish ancestry), Portugal (f*** Ronaldo) and Italy (floppers). I'm indifferent to France (hate the country, but I like the international quality of the team---Les Blues are the freaking African all-star team). I'm also indifferent to Spain (in theory I should like them, but I just don't have an emotional connection to their players.

Greece is not a defensive team. They have good defenders but we have a one-dimensional coach. It's basically Mike Brown coaching for Greece. It worked in 2004 when nobody saw us coming but people know our game already. They know how we play. Our coach cannot make adjustments and it shows now. We have no offensive game plan. Absolutely none. Just long balls all game and hoping for a miracle goal. And the players chosen were pitiful. He's 71 years old. I think he is just in advanced stages of dementia or a one hit wonder coach.

That just isnt true. He held possession well. It's not his fault his partner in midfield cant pass or dribble. And so what if theyve failed before, they're both top notch players and he held Lampard in check all game.

Ok but playing with Lampard didnt stop Gerrard from blowing past Clark and scoring, did it?
