It's ironic that we hate on Lebron but in this instance hope Melo follows his lead by defying his handlers and hanger-ons' opinion on what he should do concerning his career. Remember, no one but Lebron wanted or expected him to really go to Miami. He gave up a lot in money and reputation to do what his heart of hearts wanted. I hope Melo has a little Lebron in him. No one cares that Lebron went to Miami. People are pissed that he lead everyone on thinking they had a shot at him when all he really wanted was Miami and Miami only.

Lopez is up for an extension after next season. They can't keep Lopez and get Paul. And Lopez is pretty overrated anyway.

at the very least, when this is all over, ujiri and kroenke are going to look very unprofessional with the way they've handled this. how many times now have we read about denver getting greedy and trying to make a last minute change to the deal, and then the other teams get pissed? i can imagine other GMs want nothing to do with them in the future.

ujiri might go to kroenke and say: heres the deal, this is how much $$s we're saving by dumping these guys off, everyone is in general agreement, we can make this go soon

I can't see Melo being more open to maybe being able to play with Chris Paul in a few years in NJ, over playing with Amare in NY right now - he wouldn't. . If the dream of landing Cp3 in a few years is what they have going for them he'd be stupid not to wait it out till the deadline to come to the Knicks, or FA..

I think as the report that Denver was threatening to deal with the Knicks showed, and that we've known all along, they aren't opposed to some of the players we have as much as they and the media make it out to think.....if they were forced to, they would.

It's disgusting how unethical these sports agents are. Instead of advancing Melo's primary interest (ie. wanting to go to NY), they're commingling the interests of their other clients (getting Rip or CP3 out of their respective franchises) and trying to convince Melo to settle on NJ. They probably have other financial self-interested motives in ensuring Melo gets his extension as well.

I mean it's pretty clear that in this whole situation, Leon Rose is not "representing" Melo as a fiduciary agent would. I mean no surprise, these agents representing multiple clients have serious conflicts of interest.

The agents may be primarily interested in getting an extension done now so they can get their cut but you can't definitively prove that they aren't representing Melo as a fiduciary would.

I'm sure maximizing the dollars in any deal is also a legit priority of Melo's and with uncertainty surrounding the CBA, his agents are clearly looking out for his (and their own) bottom line.

Cuz they aren't quoted as giving any hints that they are. Just because a media reporter reports it doesn't mean its necessarily true. The league would need concrete evidence for a tampering charge.

melo 19.5 + rip 12.5 + lopez 9-12 + farmar 4.2 + outlaw 7 = 52mil best case scenario

Actually, I applaud them for insisting that Harrington be included now. If they really aren't talking to New York, because they want to get more return for Melo, then they should be fighting to get a better return.

If they really didn't want to talk to us out of spite, and now are spiting New Jersey, then at least they are being consistent, haha.

WTF, why don't the Knicks try to get in on getting RIP to satisfy Melo. It's not like the team doesnt' have a crying need for a SG.

Yet, he seems to have been right. The column is on bulls.com if anyone is interested. (Sam has maintained from Day 1 that the Bulls are not involved at all in the Melo-drama - and he was right about that too.)

I have give it to Lebron ( even though I loathe the guy) he defied his agent Rose (he wanted him in NY or NJ), WWW (wanted him in Chicago), and Maverick Carter (wanted him to stay in Cleveland) to join his friends in South Beach. But Anthony does not have the luxury as he does.

isnt this the same guy who pointed out that the trade would have to be done on monday or else due to logistics with physicals the nets wouldnt have enough active players to play in their game tomorrow? if it is, he's clearly making stuff up left and right, if he didnt write that i'd like to know why only murphy is sitting out and not the other 7 or so guys in the trade
