Red Bull is heavily co-signed by EM is there any surprise there's a Detroit bias..... a battleground who elevated I forget his name who EM feels is the best to ever do it?

That why I said battle grounds should be neutral in every sense. That means eliminate Superstars who may have may have deals with sponsors. I think Em was a judge at one of their events.

Another problem is these venues want the crowd to play a huge part as they are the backdrop. Which doesn't favor the NYC scene as has been mentioned, they are so ignorant and brutal during battles.

remi I asked you was Kap the reason GT kind of is falling off but you never said anything, but I assume by your last post here he is. Also why is it they show up at all the other jump-offs? Are they trying to steal shine or ideas?

Did you even listen to the Bow Wow one?

Just because a track ain't all your "non-mainstream underground" type, doesn't mean it sucks.

Non-conformity doesn't make you better.

Umm sir since when is Bow Wow mainstream???? Bow Wow hasn't had a single in what 5 years? LOL That statement already proved to me you ah chat peer nonsense.
And WHEN was Wiz mainstream? He has one single get flack and he's auto mainstream? I bet you ddnt even know about him until Black and Yellow while I at least was on Wiz a year ago.

EDIT: BTW I listened to the Bow Wow one and it was basura which was why I said that.

Em basically is the reason the Redbull battles were a big deal...so it's a win-lose on that. The battles leading up to Detroit were all VERY WELL RUN and very original...the main event...pretty weak. Two judges straight outta Detroit and Alchemist...not much room to hide bias. Agreed that crowd playing a role is both a key to battles and a problem. NYC will not be a good venue for cats who don't kick BARS...Besides Fresco, I can't think of many out of state cats who got more support than hate.

I don't think Kap is THE reason, but he was one of the key figures who could put together great events and keep peace. Even Kap dealt with some nonsense with Cortez hating on him bc Cort got bodied by Real Deal at the first Grizzle. Kap leaving is one of many problems, PH stopped running shows before that and I don't see Lush sticking around much longer when he got screwed over AGAIN by DNA. Lush and Plex run a tight ship, but he's gotten caught out there a few times (Jin did him DIRTY, show went over limit and lost it's main events and now DNA)...None of these dudes are above getting screwed over by the drama. Kap being gone will really hurt in the long run though...because Grizzle is an AMAZING yearly event, I almost flew to Orlando just to go see Grizzle 2 live with my brother. That would have been a few hundreds invested to be there but seemed worth it and after witnessing the battles, I think it would have been.

The cats showing up at each others' shows really isn't to steal shine. It mainly because they're all friends and work together. When LA rappers can't make air fare to battles elsewhere, I've heard of Lush offering to pay to fly them out..so it's like these guys all help each other out. Usually, if they're at the event they probably have some vested interest, perhaps investments too. It also promotes fair judging over bias and gets them time to witness other regions rappers that they may look to fly out in the future. It's all business. This cat Conceited is ALL OVER the place, never battling, just showing face...partially for the exposure but also to support rappers he works with like SONS heads.

Wow, I forgot that's where I knew his name from. Nah, this one to me is gonna be bigger I think if that's even possible. Jay Sean knows how to make the radio hits, pour your entire budget in a good beat and get a feature from Lil Wayne. Brilliant!

I finally got around to Heartless v Big Kannon...Heartless is the most talented rapper in SONS PERIOD. "No one **** with your albums, tha's why they don' sell a bit (celibate)." "You tell us yuh makin' moves but we don't care what cha makin' (jamaican) jerk, you shouldn't even be on the roster (rasta)." "Since his name Kannon (Cannon) please don't believe that he ****' carry (Carey)." "Yes I'm talking to U, PS he has no delivery" edit: Those are all quotes from his first round alone...dude's creative as hell!

His wordplay is INSANE, over everyone's head way too often. People need to pay better attention...or stop hatin'. Big Kannon is nasty too. He had the Cortez in NY type crowd love going tho. I think Tez outside of NY looks high mid-tier NOT TOP...but in NY he gets insane reactions. BK is nice and I loved when he took on Young Kannon. He got humor and bars but he's on that same Cortez swag, high mid-tier...not quite top.

I'm a big fan of this site I just discovered btw, they track how many punchlines each emcee uses and break down the battles as fair as they can. Pretty fresh,

J4remi, who do you think is wrong in the DNA and Diz stuff? I know these guys always talk mess so I don't understand the nonsense DNA is pulling on Twitter. He's talking about he need 4 people with him... If something is going to happen, then its going to happen. No way in the world is DNA going to pull the nonsense he just did and then feel protected by bringing just 4 people to another coast. He sounds ridiculous.

And some of the people on here really need to understand music. You have user saying Bow Wow is underground and another claiming Bow Wow isn't underground, but won't say he's mainstream. Smh.

J4remi, what do you think of the Cortez and Thasaurus battle? I think Cortez bodied him, but the polls have Cortez losing. That's ridiculous.

Just seen your post on the Heartless and Big Kannon battle. Heartless lost that battle, but I agree that his punchlines go over people heads just like Conceited. A few times I didn't get the punchline right away until he repeated it.

Justdatdude wrote:Just seen your post on the Heartless and Big Kannon battle. Heartless definitely lost that battle.

Both the Cortez/Saurus and Heartless/BK battle have a theme...hometown crowd bias takes away from the away team's performance. Heartless has the best wordplay I've heard outta SONS since Con vs Illmac. I think SONS is pretty played out but I was really impressed with all the clever ish Heartless was dropping. BK got away with some corny ish to me. He's had better performances and gotten less reaction.

Tez vs Saurus was razor thin edge to Thesaurus for me. My problem with Cortez is basically two-fold in that battle...I think he started off all three rounds slow. The first round opening bars were ****' corny and he said no gun talk then dropped gun bars. Second round started slow but the flow flipping just swagged on it. Third round was just eh all around to me after Thesaurus slayed it. Meanwhile Thesaurus laced some intricate ass rhyme patterns and spoke truth throughout that first and got no love. He had some hard hitting bars that apparently no one felt. His flips got no reaction...flips are the toughest thing to do in a written battle imo. His third was beast mode, reminiscent of an older version of Thesaurus.

For me it was
1 - Tied or edge to Saurus
2 - Cortez
3 - Definitely Thesaurus

So it's either an OT (I'd pick that first) or slight edge to Thesaurus.

On that DNA v Diz nonsense...I'm blaming DNA because of how dumb all his talk has been. Here's his basic problem...

1. At the last minute Diz tried to change it to unlimited rounds...and Lush co-signs this so DNA had a right to be salty...until Diz put all the problems aside and took the timed rounds that DNA agreed to. So that shouldn't be an issue AT ALL, because DNA got his way...but he's still using that as the bulk of his argument.

2. DNA said Diz was gonna bring people to jump him. That's a misquote.
Diz said something along the lines of, "Since lush and DNA forced me to change the format of the battle, I'm bringing all my boys ready to fight." Now I suppose he could be somewhat mad at that. But this is clearly just building up attention for the battle from Diz and Diz called out Lush too...Lush isn't mad about it...I wonder why?

So DNA says he'll only come if he can bring 5 of his boys...because you know...he might get jumped. Yet everyone knows that won't happen. Diz got threats going to NY and went in DOLO and DISSED PEOPLE IN THE CROWD. He got respect for it. Some cats pressed him but only made threats and NY OG's all had Diz back. Same could be said for DNA if he even had the balls to come alone. He'd get huge respect and wouldn't be heckled like Diz did all battle long.

To top that off, DNA says he KNOWS they wouldn't jump him and that it's all talk. So why does he want 5 cats with him then? He says because he's only battling on his terms from now on. That's childish and (Please Use More Appropriate Word), especially in light of Diz doing the exact opposite with Swave in NYC.

DNA wants to bring a crowd to make sure he gets reactions...or he's scared.

3. This wasn't a problem, but it becomes one...He made that dumbass blog where he didn't let Diz speak and just filmed himself yelling (Diz even called while it happened that it was being filmed for youtube on twitter). He made a bunch of threats and looked like an ****. Now he HAS to get those 5 tickets or he looks like a hypocrite. Dude is a fool. He called out Thesaurus when Thesaurus was tweeting "DNA would never duck like that I refuse to believe it" ...Guilty conscience maybe?

None of it makes sense. You see all the vets calling him out. No NY vet has backed DNA. Meanwhile, QP immediately took up the cause and took a second battle with Diz..Dude has Cadalack Ron and Diz in ONE WEEKEND, THREE DAYS to prep for unlimited rounds with Diz. I got nothing but respect for that even though I'm not a fan. Okwerdz and DBD backed Diz. KODT twitter (guessing Organik) also told DNA to man up, because backing out three days away is messed up. It's unprofessional. It's honestly messed up towards fans and Lush and GT all.

Then look at DNA's track record. He ducked Big T for the Redbull battle...okay that's alright...cept he stormed off stage when the crowd wouldn't support him. WEAK. Then he said a battle vet and Detroit monster Quest Mccody had that battle set with him and DNA ducked last minute because Quest wasn't a big enough name for him...but Quest was a Jumpoff runner up, beat up on Head ICE and has a much better track record period. DNA also bitches when he loses battles. He's madd immature and a bad business man. Cortez sorta made up for the Marvwon battle skipping...he just forced Marv to come to his home turf where Marvwon would get no love for his bars. DNA battled Quest but it was more irony than anything, they both made the finals of the Redbull NYC battle...and that was probably the best battle in the whole Rebull series, multi-OT battle. Incredible. But he continues to act like a fool.

He should have just told Diz he won't do unlimited time round battles from the jump period and put a disclaimer he wouldn't do it for any battle rapper. There's a reason Diz went for this angle because this is his mojo. You can see the character in DNA after just 1 or 2 battles comes off very Momma Boyish. But really who would want to spar with Diz in a Spaz Outfit....I'd pass too and heads could chalk it up as ducking all they want.

Nah, I don't mind DNA not wanted to go unlimited. But Diz agreed to battle with the time limits in the end, he just wanted to make the battle happen no matter what. So after that angle failed, DNA found a new reason not to fly out. He has now ducked two battles in Cali in a row.

I think DNA fears Cali.

Also, Diz told everyone that he wasn't doing time limits months ago...so this couldn't exactly be called shocking but the situation is Diz's fault so I'm glad he manned up and took the time limits.
