Yup. I also love the fact that they've been supposedly talking for a week now. How come it wasn't reported then? What a joke.

I guess they have to milk it while they can. I wonder if Prov will silence the nonsense.

Moo brought up a good point in the last thread. Even if there is no deal to be made, he would probably just go along with it to make the Knicks give up more assets than they need to.

But there's more. Anthony has poured so much time and energy into making himself available to the Knicks, his chosen destination, that one source close to the talks believes Anthony will refuse to accept a summertime discount to play in Madison Square Garden in the event Donnie Walsh fails to deal before next Thursday's deadline.

"Melo has been the driving force behind this thing all along," the source said, "and you've got to give the kid credit. He's put himself way out there, and Denver finally engaged the Knicks and is willing to do a deal, a huge step forward.

"Melo wants to be a Knick, he's let everyone know that, and now the Knicks have to do their part. I still think it's 80-20 that he ends up in New York in a trade. But if Melo doesn't get traded, he's going to be very upset and I don't think he ever plays for the Knicks."

Walsh cannot let this moment and opportunity pass. If the Knicks don't land Anthony, they'll never land Chris Paul or Deron Williams in the summer of 2012.

From Ian O'Connor at ESPN..

totally agreed....melo has given NY now 7 months or so to get him, they gotta step up and get him b4 the deadline....too much riding on it

To be fair though.... Denver only recently started seriously listening to NYK's trade offers...

i don't know that it means he won't sign here for sure, but he'll definitely be annoyed.

get that done donnie!!!

Pharmcat! You can't say that anymore! Sorry, but you'll now be handcuffed to your bedpost wearing nothing but your pink panties for the remainder of the evening.

In review of my newly instituted arbitrary rules approved by no one in particular, the usage of the phrases "Get It Done Donnie" and "Wake Up Donnie" will result in humiliating punishments and public scorn.

Because Walsh is dumb, and wants us to be a losing team. Im sure Carmelo is so fed up he doesnt even want to come here anymore. If it takes this long to get him, Why try.

I agree with the second part, considering we're talking about Melo here, I'd be guessing he's getting pretty fed up at this point... but he doesn't go through an entire half season of this just to get less than a week away and make a rash decision like going to the Nets.... So long as Donnie doesn't F it up and lose his chance to go back on whatever 'fall back' deal they have that he currently thinks is too much, i'm okay with him trying to squeeze some assets.. after this is final anyone we were able to keep will be big in one way or another..

And i'm guessing stupid Woj forgot to put a key piece of info in his piece as well - unacceptable reporting... how do you mess that up? If that were the deal though, at least everyone agrees you do it... it seems more like the one the Knicks are now offering, and I could see being the final one accepted... very favoring for us.

I'm going to fail all of my classes because of Carmelo.

Why are people opposed to a Felton/Billups swap? Ypu really think Felton is the long term solution? He had one good month and has been in chuck mode ever since, is shooting horrendous percentages and is not playing like a true pg. Billups while certainly not a true pg either has been on fire since December.

From that bBob guy ( not sure why it matters):

Melo just took off his jersey as he walked off court. Didn't Lebron do the same thing in his last game as a Cav > @KingJames #NoClutchInbron

You're wrong

Felton went through a rough stretch, has been playing with a banged up hand, and the team also went a stretch without both Chandler and Gallo, that put additional stress on Felton and Amare to produce

Felton was outstanding tonight, and has been the last several games, what are you watching?

Billups is probably the more consistent solid player right now, and will be for the duration of his contract... question is, will he be willing to or even talented enough, to be our PG when that contract is up IF we were not to land a Paul or Williams?

Plan is still to get a better PG, but if those fall through, the thought is that the younger Felton would be the better choice if we had no other options moving forward...

Felton has been a key positive in a LOT of our wins this season. He's a big part of the reason why we're over .500 and a big part of our culture shift. He's 26 years old. He's averaging 9 assists per game. The Felton bashing is getting ridiculous.

Apparently...

1. Nets and Nuggets have been talking for a week
2. Knicks have no assets
3. Nets or Nuggets have initiated conversations depending on what your read.

The whole 'Melo has given the Knicks 7 months to get him', 'Melo is gift wrapped to the Knicks' angle is really getting old. For one thing it's not like he's sitting under a tree or in a window and all the Knicks have to do is go get him. He's the property of the Nuggets and they decide what he does and where he goes through the rest of this season.

Which brings me to the main point that sure Melo has let Denver and pretty much everyone know he wants to get to NY but since he's under contract with the Nugs they have a big say in who can step up to the table. So sure he's given Denver 7 months to do something they in turn have only given the Knicks the time of day for like the past 2-3 weeks...

So if Melo is pissed at anyone for not getting traded to the Knicks for the past 7 months he's pissed at Denver.....not the Knicks.
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.

4. Knicks have broken off talks per Bob
5. Nets have again broken off talks per Bob
6. Bulls have re-entered Melopalooza, their plan all along, per Brou-tard!

Felton may or may not be the long term answer but Billups certainly isn't. He's old now and can't play as many minutes. Knicks don't have a backup PG. What do you do after next year? Hope that Paul/Williams shows up ready to sign as a free agent? Felton may not be the answer, but he is an option. I'm betting Felton will pass more as he gets a better understanding of this offense, more trust of his teammates, and two extremely potent scorers in Amare and Melo. -Jitpal
