His coach is a moron that hasn't developed him correctly. Woodson still calls him "rook" in his third year in the league.

Did Woodson tell him to get worse over the offseason?

Umm maybe you should click on your own links and read their respective third year lines to see how WB distinguishes himself.

I just want to make sure you do see, in those links, how it's not close, right?
You're only looking at Points Average, but look at how many shots Westbrook takes and how close are their percentages made. Check out other stats, not just put on your JR vision glasses.

Westbrook got more shots because he can dribble well enough to create his own shot, penetrate, and finish at the rim

In their third seasons, Russell Westbrook, in just 4 more minutes per game, is better than Shumpert in ppg, spg, apg, rpg, the same ft% with MANY more attempts, and a better fg%. Do you know how much harder it is to shoot a better fg% on that much volume? They are not in the same league. Stop.

I cannot believe we're having a discussion comparing Westbrook to Shumpert.

Lol, look at this player comparison for their third seasons...DEAR GOD:
http://bkref.com/tiny/44kH0
You give Iman that type of usage and he will be one of the worst players in the league.

Regressed?
Yeah he didn't shoot amazing from 3 point land in the playoffs coming off of a torn ACL...
AND he had another surgery this off season.

yeah, I got lost somewhere between bitterness and insanity.
Shump is a good player that has work to do. It's hard to evaluate young talent in this mess of an organization, but he has tools.

It is hard to play with a team full of "brothers" when you know you are not part of the family...
Having heart is doing what needs to be done despite the circumstances against you. That is what heart is.
Not really, having heart in this context is playing with the passion bestowed upon you by the energy of those around you.
Regardless of our semantics battle Iman played differently last season when he was part of the team and was being treated as a Knick rather than this season where he has clearly been separated from the organization in some capacity. It does not help the fact that the Knicks have moved every single young player before giving him his next contract (Lin, Fields, Cope, Jorts, Jordan, Chandler, Gallinari) The only exception (Novak) was dealt prior to this season one year after his extension.
the team message is clear, some guys are part of the organization, part of the FAMILY (Woodson's comment about JR, Chris Smith) and others are treated differently.
This problem comes from Dolan. He cares about the family atmosphere. Woodson treats some guys like his children and that favoritism causes problems. There are guys who are part of the "plan" and guys who are not. Iman saw the writing and he is ready to bounce.
Last season we had good-culture vets like Kidd and Kurt around. Kidd may be an idiot in his personal life, but professionally is great. Kurt Thomas seems like a genuinely good person (off the court) and is a positive mentor. This season our vet leader (old guy doing some mentoring) is Kenyon Martin. I love K-marts swag, heart, in other words relentless energy. Kmart is not a leader.
Knicks look like a team full of old boys. Well run teams look like a team full of young men.

He should maybe work on a little mental toughness, then.
Everybody that got interviewed after the game last night sounded like they're playing scared. Timid. Indecisive. Too quiet.
I believe that guys should be playing as hard and as well as they can, whether or not they're getting mentioned in trade rumors. That's what they're being paid to do, and that's what they're going to be paid to do no matter what team they're on.
If Woodson wants to end this losing skid the answer is simple. Stop the non-sense, start some guys who can get the job done.
Kmart
Artest
Melo
Shumpert
Prigioni
after 4 minutes pull Artest/Prigs bring in Bargnani/Udrih
after 2 mins pull Mart and Shump bring in Cole and JR
4 more minutes pull Melo and Cole, bring in Amare and Artest
simple balancing act. Let guys play to their strengths...

Re: Time to be honest about Iman Shumpert
It's all mental for him right now. I'm not surprised he's struggling as much as he is in this situation.
Bottom line is.. the kid is still on his rookie deal and is as talented as we all thought he was from the get-go. He just needs to get out of the fire. Would love to trade Melo, start from scratch and hold on to Shump to see where his game goes from there. Otherwise, he will be a good player for someone else one day.

Re: Time to be honest about Iman Shumpert
I'm pretty sure Steve Mills started this thread. Why is all the blame on Shump? Felton when healthy has done 0. Prigonio has contributed nothing. Kmart has been better offensively than defensively. Chandlers out. Hardaway jr has proven to be nothing more than Renaldo Balkman without dreads. And JR doesn't belong in the D league right now. Shump is one of the few positives on this team why would you trade him? Because Dolan is a moron? You guys need to understand talent. Never mind the fact the kid had major knee surgery oh and another mysterious knee surgery this summer. Shump just had 5 steals 2 games ago. Everybody relax Shump is far from the problem of this team.

Because he's one of the few positives on this team? Who else is anyone going to want to trade for right now?

If you're young and you were drafted here you can do no wrong

No one thought he was going to be the cornerstone of a championship! The fans did this to Landry, now Shump is going through the same thing. I hope he gets traded so he leaves this damn mess. Once he leaves I look forward to you all complaining about our poor perimeter defense.
Landry was/is terrible, as is his contract. You really think it was a mistake to let him go?
