Ditto to Noah and the bench is awful. I am very hopeful, though, that Porzingis will take the next step and Melo will have a great year. I love the Lee addition too.

6/7 seed is where i think the Knicks land. Behind CLE/TOR/BOS/IND/DET

Why on earth do you think Phil & Co. didn't see this and jumped at the chance to trade for / sign these guys? What do you know they didn't? Why was Melo reportedly so eager to go to Chicago to play before he resigned with us?

Other side of the coin...why did Chicago let these guys go so easily without fighting to keep them (in Noah's case) or trading them (Rose)? What do you know that they dont?

you're trying to understand the moves of an org that has choked out one it's coaches, threw it's young superstar mvp phenom under the bus when he was hesitant to jump right into playoff action after rehabbing a knee injury, fired one of the most hailed assistants in Ron Adams because they wanted to piss off their head coach, traded kyle korver for nothing, fired a top 3 coach in thibs and replaced him with who they thought was steve kerr 2.0..

rose and noah both wanted out. it was reported bulls got word rose was leaving next summer, and noah wasn't re-signing either

#6 or #7

reached by balancing rose and noah games by the end of the season, so they stay healthy for the post-season. then we surprise #2/3 and are on course to face Lebron in the ECF

Yeah but with due respect, the quality of knowledge displayed in that statement instantly makes me wonder: has he been a die hard heat fan for, hmm say, six years now?

So, does that mean yes? :D

No man, fair enough. I just think, while nice, it's a little bit off. At first glance, this is what you'd think and I understand where he's going, especially looking at it from his own team's perspective.

Rose just won't be the same though. Serviceable, but nowhere near the consistent difference maker we've learned to associate with his name.

Pacers should be better, but #2 seed is a bit high... Raptors-Celtics are appropriately about even (with us as well). Bucks, I like their draft, but that team has some serious bad vibes. Pistons got better no doubt. Hornets took steps back again, so I think they fall out of the playoffs.

IMO:
1) Cavaliers - duh
2) Celtics - got a big time FA, still have a great coach.
3) Raptors - consistency is a good thing.
4) Hawks - good coach, Howard motivated with good spacing around him.
5) Knicks - we have a lot of new pieces, but with Rose-Melo-KP we have a lot of "talent"
6) Pistons - never count out Stan when he has a center (or anyone on the Riley tree)
7) Wizards - Mahinmi is a good center, good depth at other positions. They need a SF to develop, but Wall-Beal can splash on the East.
8) Magic - VERY solid talent. Vuc-Biyombo-Serge-Green-Gordon-Hezonja-Fournier-Augustine-Peyton Coach: Vogel.

9) Pacers - good talent in PG-Monte. Young and Jefferson are decent players. Teague is playing for money. Just not confident in them.
10) Da Bulls - Wade and Butler will look great together. Rondo is a questionable fit. I could Dragic for Rondo occuring, but for now since the Bulls are a huge gamble everywhere except SF and C, I can't rate them higher.
11) Bucks - Thon, Greek and Parker. Should do SOMETHING interesting
12) Nets - Spent a lotta money, have every reason to try to win. They have that no-tank in them
13) Hornets - everyone else got better, they barely covered their losses.
14) Sixers - They added some things, gotta tinker with the team, but they will no longer look like an active tank.
15) Heat. I think Riley will trade Dragic somewhere before the summer is over. Bosh will sit home and collect checks, Riley will develop some young guys like he did after the Mourning era. Wade will probably do as Mourning and come back after 2 years and play a back up role.

pacers should be better but they go from 7 seed to out of the playoffs? you're buggin.

Hornets won 48 games last year and MKG is back. That Kemba/Batum/MKG perimeter defense is going to be lethal. No way they finish below the Nets.
wow didnt read the rest or I would have disregarded this whole post. Just overall a terrible list. The nets?????? cmon

Why are people putting the Cavs number one? The Raptors were one game away from being the top team in the conference last season, and I think the Raptors had the season series with the Cavs too. The Raps would have been #1 if Casey didn't rest Lowry and DeRozan in the last couple of weeks of the regular season. Not that I think the Raptors were/are better than the Cavs, but I'm just saying Raps could have easily been #1 seed last season.

A healthy (and I highly emphasize health, because the talent is definintely there) Knicks team can be #1 in the conference. A revitalized Rose, Porzingis improving, Melo being Melo and Noah improving defence, why can't Knicks be #1?

i love this game.

if the knicks stay healthy, if rose plays like a MVP, if melo plays like he's younger...
and if the cavs stay healthy, lebron plays like he's a few years younger, kevin love plays like he's still in minnesota...

then it's hard to say who wins.

Nets are too high since I thought they would be getting Crabbe and Johnson (who were recently matched). but that basically just flips them in the order. I believe Miami and Philly will be tanking again so Nets will get 3rd worst by default.

As for the Pacers -- I put a LOT of stock in coaching. That's why I have ORL going up, I have DET taking a big step.
Pacers are one Paul George away from being the 2nd worst team in the conference. They have a good head coach, but not as good as the one they let go. I could be wrong, but I don't see that team meshing well enough to make the playoffs.

Well it's not every year we've featured the likes of D.Rose, Melo, Porzingis & Noah as our core leaders with role players such as Lee & Jennings.

Derrick Rose, Carmelo Anthony, Kristaps Porzingis & Joakim Noah (at full strength) are the strongest 4-man nucleus this fan base has seen since dating back to H20, Sprewell, L.J & Camby and/or since Starks, Mason, Oak Tree & Ewing.

I couldn't care less about fan predictions of the past. We've as a franchise have waited a long time for a core group of players such as Rose, Melo, Porzingis & Noah all playing together.

Courtney Lee is nice to have as a 3 & D role playing starting SG. Brandon Jennings can contend for 6th Man of the Year with his scoring off the bench. Lance Thomas is a nice role player of a glue guy to have. And only time will tell but there's a reason why Phil Jackson likes three of our prospects in Hernangomez, Baker & Kuzz from Lithuania).

The potential is here with our role players. But if Rose, Melo, Porzingis & Noah all compete alongside one another while being healthy? Forget about it. We're looking at a top 1-2 seed of the Eastern Conference along with a trip to the ECF.
