who was the last great Knicks GM in team history? I remember almost all in the last 30 years that have been involved in some real debilitating moves. That includes Grunfeld too

My question is rather why are guys giving Phil Jackson a pass. Where's shamgod and team Hoodwinked at?
Phil doesn't get a pass. This is all his fault. This is his team, his hand picked players and his toxic system. I wish Dolan would fire him tonight!!

James basically imagined he was playing at the Y. It was that easy for him.

Rose and/or Carmelo are going to have to make a commitment to facilitate the offense.
KP looks terrible.
KP's problem is the enema

I can accept when a team beats us because you're not going to win every game, but at least compete. Tonight they didn't even try. I didn't see any sort of leadership out there or anyone trying to get this team back on the right track. They just went through the motions.
This was just a terrible game and EVERYONE involved should be ashamed of themselves.

Re: Knicks-Rockets PG: Who didn't see this coming?
Kp only 4 shot attempts after getting 18 and 15 the last two games. Him having foul trouble early in the 1st and 2nd doesn't help either. The team is really uncomfortable guarding the perimeter. It's been 2 season now that it's like this. And where's the 3 point attempts? I thought Jeff want to turn up the team's 3 ball game.
Watching the game and seeing the rockets hitting 3 after 3 and the team switching everything on defense, a statement from Fisher kept repeating in my head "Three points don't kill us, we have to guard the paint" something like that. Then watching guards penetrate uncontested because of a single pick, and our players both switch to one man had me flashing back to Woodson screaming "SWITCH!!! GODDAMIT BENO!"
It's then that everything flashed before my eyes and that Silver was picking the number 4 pick. Not for the Lakers, but for the Knicks who had the worse record in franchise history. Winning only 17 games.
My heart is aching and I got cold sweats typing this.

I will say though, KP at the 5 staying down low did keep things inhospitable down there. He really shouldn't be playing around the arc for long stretches on defense.
The team has no leader on the floor. Rose has no interest (or ability) in being an actual PG, Melo is back to only wanting to play on the ball. Noah was sorta useless, and KP was passive and was ignored as a result.
Everyone from Hornacek on down needs to look at themselves in the mirror, because getting slapped around on the boards is not a thing you need time to gel to avoid.
Baker looked good though, as did the Knicks City Dancers (if you're on League Pass), so I guess there is that.
I have not watched this game, but it may sadden me if I did.
At least we still have the pick though.
Are you fans of the team or the player?

Dave Checketts? He was the central architect that put together the great late 90s Knick team.

if you keep getting embarrassed on the defensive end, guys are going to act a fool on the offense. basketball is largely a mentality game. we've seen this team's potential to razzle and dazzle on the offensive side of the floor. the issue here is poor D which, when exploited, negatively impacts the offense

Based on this post game presser, it's obvious the players don't respond or respect Hornecek. Having Rambis on the bench and Phil sticking his nose don't help.

Melo is trash. Jesus. Phil needs to get on his knees and beg this fool to waive that NTC.

The worst thing about this defense is how easy the opponent makes it look. Just effortless scoring on basically air

My question is rather why are guys giving Phil Jackson a pass. Where's shamgod and team Hoodwinked at?
If the wheels come off this season it is all on Jackson actually. I'm being as supportive as possible, but this off-season was a gambler's move and not the third year of good moves, but a swing for the mid-field after two years of mostly failure
Jackson made two crucial errors, but only one is currently haunting him. Fisher was a terrible hire, but the NTC clause was very stupid. It was and remains my # 1 criticism of Jackson, because I was in support of a full rebuild and stockpiling picks ahead of next year's draft and he tied his own hands.
So here we are.
Jackson is walking the edge this season. I still like the potential of the talent to grow on the bench this season far more than the previous two so I still think it was a pretty good off-season, but the starters were assembled for win now mode and we all know that was Jackson feeling the pressure to do something.
FACT: This franchise never was able to rebuild fully under Jackson. He ensured that with the NTC and it looks like it could be his downfall.
