First of all, do you have any idea how strong that tendon is? You have to view this differently...when my friend had the surgery
the doctor did over 300 stitches...Let that sink in guys 300...I know he looks weak hoping around like that![]()
but it's only because it needs to heal first-before he can put weight on it. Wait till he tries to put pressure on that foot for the first time- he will probably think he's never going to play again...all of this worry in "mental". It's about what KD's idea of this injury is
-what our idea of this injury is-when the bottom line is- he didn't get his foot amputated- he can come back from this-but he has to
believe it and go threw the grind of it and complete the process with the discipline and repetition- something my friend could not do...
Look the reason that I believe KD can come back strong from this- is because another great player did it (Dominick Wilkins) and I believe
KD has the mental make up to believe that he can do it and the mental male up to put the work in! He's done it all his life...
Thats all it takes to get almost anything you want accomplish -PERIOD!
Belief is all you've got on this one, because the facts about the nature of the injury for NBA players, especially one in their 30s, don't actually back up any such conviction
Your friend doesn't happen to play in the NBA do they? That's right, that's a whole other kettle of fish
Dominick Wilkins- you have no other "great" player that was 30 years old with the SAME body type- I'll wait Clyde![]()
I love your posts and usually agree with you but I sense that we're about to get it inprepare yourself- i have some experience in this field my good buddy
Did Nique have fractured feet preceding their achilles? KD's feet, calves and now achilles are all issues now. He ain't right down there.
I'm not saying he won't be back and productive to some unknown degree, but you believing in that because Nique did it doesn't make it more probable when most players are significantly diminished by it.
You do realize we can't really debate this very much, because neither of us know how he'll turn out. You can argue probabilities which is what we may be doing now, but quite honestly I don't see how you can say the history of these injuries is favorable in his 30s by pointing to Nique who is an outlier case.
Guys with feet issues can end up with significant compensatory injuries and we don't know why KD was having calf issues and if they are related to structural support from the feet up, but his injury history is probably connected to the achilles now. That's why I'm skeptical of this belief in him. It is not a knock against his will to overcome. It is just a disbelief due to his physical issues from the soles of his feet up to his knee and he may never be close to what he was as a result.
You want to risk it on him?
Cool
Your prerogative and that's not something I want to debate. I simply don't think he is worth the risk after his prior injuries that may be structurally related and at his age.
If it comes down to a gut check instead of facts, I respect my gut and I'll respect your faith, but I will still call your conviction faith rather than certitude. You cannot be certain of his level of play when he returns. None of us can. You can believe in him if you wish to.
