Can’t help Randle that he plays for an organization susceptible to trying to make players something they’re not. Put him on a team that would use him primarily in the PnR and I bet he looks 10x better.
Randle needs the right teammates too (spacing, defenders, good pg, etc). It’s a bad fit on this roster even if we adjust his role.
But yeah, agree on the right team, in the right situation he can be better. Kinda like Timmy, Kanter too. But it’s just probably not here. It will be too difficult to make it work, and just not worth it.
He needs to go.
Randle needs "the right kind of players"
RJ needs "the right kind of players"
Mitch needs "the right kind of players"
Frank needs "the right kind of players"
When a team has too many guys who need "the right kind of players", they have the wrong kinds of players.
Ok, a little hyberbolic.
Knicks need to decide who they are going to build around going forward and then cast off some guys and get in others that fit with "that guy"
Shooters who can shoot is a start. They go with lots of different kinds of players.
I think the real issue is not paying the "not that guys" so much and making them the face of team.
That makes it easier to pursue "that guy" and surround him with the right "not that guy(s)"

Almost every player in this league needs different players with complementary skillsets. Lebron and Giannis need shooters, for example. Curry would need someone to cover defensive weaknesses. KD needs 3 other all stars (low blow, sorry).
The main question is: if we accommodate you, can we win? Basically, the criteria should be something like this (subject to revision):
1) Do you need the ball in your hands to contribute?
If yes, go to question 2.
If no, go to question 4.
2) Can the team win if you're the 1A option and we build around you?
If yes, congratulations. You have a franchise talent: efficient and studly.
If no, go to question 3
3) Do you have potential to become a real 1A player or a championship contributing role player?
If yes, then okay, you have a shot. Hope you can improve.
If no, then you're probably somebody like Carmelo. Why the hell do you deserve the ball? Dump their ass.
4) Are you overpaid?
If yes, sorry, we're gonna try and trade you to Dallas very soon. Maybe we can attach some assets.
If no, go to question 5.
5) Do you have the potential to be a contributor on a championship level team, next to a real franchise player?
If yes, then congratulations. You have time to improve so let's invest in your development.
If no, sorry, Knicks fans are going to turn on you very soon. Or we're going to trade you to Charlotte for some 2nds.

Re: Tom Thibodeau To The Knicks 90% Likely!
I like the move. It’s amazing how much I’ve come to appreciate general competence when watching this team. We haven’t had it in years it seems. We see teams every night who are outclassed in terms of talent or organizational structure but compete with better teams because they’ve just been coached well. Thibs has/had his flaws, but he’s still a good coach.
Thibs is going to drill these kids defensively until all we allow are midrange jumpers. It would be a boon for Mitch defensively; he could and probably would start. I could see him having a very good effect on RJ and Frank also. DSJ not so much.
Now offensively I’d hope they bring in an associate who’s savvier on that end, but that’s not to say Thibs hasn’t studied up and added a few wrinkles to his own playbook with all this time off.

Thibs is at least a legit coach who understands basketball. He's not Popovich or whoever you might want but he's also not Fizdale or Fisher or any of these other idiots they've rolled through here recently

I want the Wizards to fire Scott Brooks; he'd be a good get here IMO

Trade for Horford with Philly attaching Thybulle and a pick.
Line-up:
Drafted PG
RJ with improved shot and defense.
Thyb
Horford
Mitch
Hire Thibs. Win games 79-75.

as HC; his offense puts up points; his issue has been defensively; hire a better defensive assistant coach/maybe keep Miller as DC

fine, because we don't have players who can hit the three.

The trio of Leon Rose, Dolan, and Thibs would complete my vision of an all-fat-white-guy-who-looks-like-he-could-be-a-low-level-goon-for-Tony-Soprano's-crew Knicks front office.

David Fizdale will never sniff a NBA head coaching position again
At least they're considering an actual coach for once
Derek Fisher says hello

Rose looks like he could have whacked a few in his day
