A few things about Ayton:
- I know his heart and attitude have been questioned but maybe some of that was Monty's fault
- I recall reading the Suns won the minutes he played in the Finals vs Bucks.
- I noticed when Knicks played at Portland this year Ayton was killing it with jumpers from the free throw line. Not floaters like Hartenstein but nice jump shots, an element neither iHart or Mitch provided. I think he had 30 that game, or almost
- Thibs could improve his rim protection
- he's buddies with Mikal, and in general Knicks culture would get him to play with hard
I don't know all the salary or trade details, but there's a lot of positives imo.
You just say it like they’re facts, but I think you’re totally wrong
Just like Randle can’t stop making bad decisions, this dude cannot be arsed to play defense. I think he can, but I also think he won’t. He’s pretty good offensively when he’s on the ball. Not a passer though. Ball will stick. Not a smart player, not necessarily a plus player.
Not necessarily a negative either. IMO could go after Valanciunas instead and not miss a beat (I’m not saying they’re the same player though, don’t @ me).

I think we'll sign Precious and then we'll trade for another big at the Feb '24 deadline.

First time ever hearing the ball sticks with Ayton. He gets criticized for being too passive.
Anyways he played a massive role on a finals team. So he can clearly impact winning.

ayton in a weird way would make a lot of sense
but it stops making sense the moment you include any real assets.

Re: Trades and Transactions Thread Cont'd - Where the Center At?
Ayton did a film breakdown about his defense with Mike Schmitz a couple years ago when he was one of the best big men defenders in the league at the time. Good stuff if anyone wants to watch it.

We could get Ayton in December or February using Mitch, Precious (re-signed on a new deal) and Deuce with some second rounders coming back our way.
I imagine Portland will be looking to tank and cash out on their vets like Grant and Ayton for younger players.

No not saying those are facts, just my opinions. Being hopeful.

Just curious….I tried keeping up with all the trades on draft night….did the Knicks come away with extra seconds for the future?

I don't think they can wait till the deadline, nobody believes Mitch will be healthy, the fact they want a center that can start for 30 games says enough. If Mitch gets hurt in December again, we don't have IHart to bail us out, and Tom would immediately start playing guys a ridiculous amount of minutes to make up for the loss.

ayton has an effort liability.
which everyone can see on the court.
he also has an effort liability off the court where he wont leave his house because of bad weather.
