What an elite role player to have. This team has a special offense right now.

I cant say this enough....

The Heat with Bosh Bron and Wade started 9-8. Wade and Bron couldnt figure out how to play off each other early. About 15 games in Wade takes the alpha role and fricken the rest is history.

The teams construction is about as ideal as it gets for a Thibs system except ONE thing ...they need a true elite backup rim protector. Mitch is THAT CAT. Precious will help somewhat here as well. Now can he stay healthy? Or do you try and still trade for Kessler or Poetl?

Mitch will be traded for Bruce Brown or someone of that ilk IMO. Team needs another wing-ish player to provide OG insurance and also give those guys more of a break. Given how Sims is playing and what we know Achiuwa is capable of, the Knicks have enough big depth for Thibs to build a solid defense out of.

While Sims is playing a bit better he is still no where near Mitchell Robinson out there. Mitch will make a big difference when he returns. Mitch has went toe to toe with the Cavs frontcourt and Embiid and fared extremely well. Sims is not quite that kind of guy defensively.

We are the 5th highest scoring team in the league. Crazy how efficient this team offense has gotten and we aren't even running on all cylinders yet.

i'd argue another 3&D wing is more important than a back up rim protecting big. solely for keeping jHart/og/bridges healthy. if we could get another serviceable wing in the mix to limit these guys mins and help keep em fresh for a playoff run it would be ideal.

Just wanted to chime in quickly. I watched the Bridges and Towns trades in the offseason with utter excitement. I was surprised on some of the negativity but having at PG and PF/C essentially two top 10 scorers in an offense oriented game (in 2024) was always a great idea IMO. People underestimated Towns because he does not look/talk as tough as some others but this dude is one of the best big man shooters in the history of the NBA. And our top 3 scorers are ALL great FT shooters as well which is of paramount importance in the playoffs.

People way overreact to some early dissapoiting losses. The Lebron-Wade-Bosh trio which was supposed to win 10 straight titles started off 9-9 in their first season together. Almost any team undergoing big changes has some adjustment period. I was hoping for 11-12 wins over the first 20 games and it seems we are headed that way. Now without Mitch and Precious this team is WAY beyond full strength. You add those two guys defensively and have potentially Hart + Deuce, Payne and Precious off the bench as well as a possible trade deadline addition with the remaining FRP and you are looking at a top 3 team in the league---no ifs or buts. With a full rotation we ARE in fact already a top 3 team.

This team, barring any MAJOR untimely injuries, will be the best knick team since at least the Ewing era, possibly since the 1970s. I'll go on record saying that if we get this team, meaning the top 8 rotation players, healthy to the playoffs for 3 or 4 title runs, we'll end that title drought. Boston is the only team that will be on par with us...I have zero doubt that a healthy knick team will punish the rest of the east. If you thought going up against Conley-Edwards-McDaniels-Towns-Gobert with Reid off the bench was tough (and they made it to the ECF), then Brunson-Bridges-OG-Towns-Mitch with Hart-Deuce-Precious-Payne off the bench is blowing that Wolves' team out of the water.

Health is the only issue. Let's hope we get lucky with that one.

our starting 5 can contend - it's imperative they're healthy come playoff time. so getting another wing to take some of those mins is much more important. we really have 3 back up bigs at this point with precious/sims/huk. mitch is a luxury(theory cause he isn't ever healthy). so moving him for a decent wing is the move to make.

We didn't have Bridges last year and now have 4 near elite to elite D guys that can defend multiple positions: Hart OG Bridges and McBride. Could we use another ? Sure but it is no where near as important as the elite rim protecting C.

look at the mins and think about how important jHart/og/bridges are to the championship window - now think about mitch and what he brings to the offensive end and tell me that making sure that those 3 wings aren't a lot more important. getting their mins down so they're healthy come playoff time is so much more important than trading sims mins for mitch.
