Jalen Bluntson wrote:Not one redeeming quality to this weekend unless you call watching a non NBA player abuse the All Star players in a dunk contest fun. I can watch him on YouTube while I'm taking a dump. And WTF was Kevin Hart doing trashing SGA? Is this really what they wanna do to the game? I'm never watching that trash again. A skills competition that required no skill. A dunk competition with non NBA player winning a 3peat. Whatever that All Star game thing was were team mates didn't even play together? Just give them the votes and a check with a glass trophy that has their name on it and let them take vacation like everyone else who didn't get voted in. These guys don't even want to be there. Might as well have a fashion show and they can wear those puffy coats and gigantic sweaters. This was absolute garbage.

Yeah but....Im not surprised at all. Its been bad for how long? My expectations were low and after the 3pt contest I dipped.

I didn't hate it as much of some of ya'll.... I watched it on Max on tape delay so I was able to forward through the BS.

The first two games were actually fun and we saw more defense played than in the last 5 all-star games combined. I loved that Wemby brought 100% intensity. He keeps winning me over.

Brunson is not built for the all-star game. Neither is Jokic. I don't know why the coach kept trotting Jokic out in both games, practically the entire game, when it was clear he was giving zero effort. The coach should have token started him, then yanked him after a few minutes. If Wemby was in most of that final game along with some of the other bench guys, maybe it would have went down to the wire. We almost got 3 fun mini games out of it...

As for all the breaks and Hart BS... yeah, I could see how the audience could be fed up with it. Poorly handled at times.

This is so cringe. Way to market literally a top 3 player in the sport Adam Silver, by having Kevin Hart antagonize him on national television.

I'm glad he didn't find it funny.

And they wonder why nobody gave a sh*t about the games

I think the NBA needs to just stop pretending like we're ever gonna get a competitive game again. Just too much risk involved for what's really just an exhibition game in the middle of the season

You just gotta lean into that fact, make it more of a celebration, just have fun with it. Sure the crusty old heads will complain, but they already complain about everything. Like how the NFL made the Pro Bowl into a flag football game, yeah it's not the same but they're all out there having fun

Inside the NBA kinda sucks now. All they do is complain about how soft guys are or whatever, and half the guys on it admit they don't even watch the games. Yet in the middle of the All Star game, we had to take a break to celebrate them, when they're not even retiring, they're just going to a different network. Sh*t's ridiculous.

Inside the NBA is so overrated.

What happened is the same thing as ESPN, at the start they had serious discussion with a bit of tomfoolery, but then over time as the market shifted and less and less eyeballs were on cable, they had to ramp up the Flanderization in order to compete, leading to a diminished product. And because things can't just end anymore and executives need to wring out any potential profit, rather than be something people look back on fondly as part of the times, it will continue to limp along getting progressively worse and worse until people finally turn the tv off and it gets axed for not making enough money.

If someone says something that someone else doesn’t find funny, they have every right not to like what was said. That's how comedy has worked for ages and it's a good system. Shai didn't find it funny. I can't tell him how to feel about something

Can't wait til they swap out Chuck for Draymond Green who isn't funny or even fun to listen to because he's a condescending, violent prick who shouldn't be normalized.

I mean, I could make the case Chuck is more violent than Draymond but has been normalized over time

Far as I know, Dray's never participated in a defenestration.

These guys are WAY too soft nowadays and take even the slightest criticism to heart. Brunson is one of the few players in today’s era who will hear someone criticize his game and go out there and try to be better instead of whine about it.

I had to fight the urge to mute/walk away during his segments. If he takes the Chuck role, the show is done.

I don't think Shai acted in any sort of negative way. Hart was being the Heel and he reacted. That's the bit. No drama.

I think players probably hated all the gaps in between playing, also isn't best for the body in terms of warming up, cooling down etc.

Overall more watchable than some of the games in the past 10 years.

Only ones to really blame are the All-Stars themselves. They’re the ones who ruined the game and stopped participating in the dunk contest.

Given the little left to work with all these years, I thought this weekend was pretty good..
