The soft thing to do would be letting this dumbazz coach run you into the ground the entire year, making you and your teammates look bad, making your bench guys not get real game time development, because you’re too shook to speak up

Props to mikal for saying what everyone with a brain has been saying since November.

We have a liar or.... thibs is senile which is excusable cause he is old as hell. Either way this is a bad look.

It's not a lie necessarily

Mikal may have talked to Thibs

Thibs may have heard him but Thibs may not have made it a back-and-forth conversation

Yeah I guess thibs can be mister semantics about it saying a conversation is different but having a player air this sht out and then have thibs deny a conversationa and say it's bullcht is not a good look on both sides.

That's what I mean. Thibs is definitely the type of guy that would play semantics. Him mentioning that Brunson and KAT are below top 20 in minutes is him trying to deflect from Josh, Mikal, and OG being so high in minutes.

In a way, it makes Thibs looks worse.

He takes care of his top scorers in Brunson and KAT, but is leaving his wings to play the most minutes, do all the dirty work, and get far less touches offensively.

Both OG and Mikal probably wish they were getting enough touches consistently to average 20+ ppg, but they are only getting enough touches to get 17 ppg.

It might not matter how much you can pay OG and MIkal. They don't want to be relegated to taking turns being the 4th option while having to play the most minutes in the league.

I agree, and ultimately I think mikal is airing this out cause it's impacting his bag. Which I don't blame him ar all.

I'm really curious how this plays out. Is thibs going to cave and reduce his mins. Id be curious if it would just blow over if we started winning. How is jHart and Brunson going to react to this. Things are going to get a lil awkward.

Do you think they have told Mikal that he's not worth a max extension? If Mikal knew he was getting one from the Knicks, then he would keep quiet.

UNLESS, Mikal doesn't want to extend at all and wants to test the market.

But now with MIkal's numbers being where they are because of Thibs and the system, Mikal might feel his value has been diminished to that of a $20-$30 million a year player instead of a $40+ million a year player like OG.

Josh is averaging 15/10/6 under Thibs and has 3 more years on his contract. By the time he gets to 33 years of age, it's no guarantee that Josh will still even be in the NBA, or get a bigger contract than the one he has.

Jalen might be lucky and age like Dame Lillard and Stephen Curry, but there's no guarantee of that either by the time his contract runs out at age 32.

OG will be 32 by the time his contract runs out. It is still up in the air whether OG becomes elite like Kawhi/PG/Jimmy in their 30's, or if he has peaked and starts regressing in his 30's.

Mikal doesn't have the luxury that Josh, Jalen, and OG have. He's not in a place to sacrifice everything for a championship until he gets that extension.

So either he knows he's not getting one, or he doesn't want one but we're hurting his chances at getting his money elsewhere.

Fck idk, its hard to believe they would tell him that and I have a hard time believing they're negotiating an extension now. I'm just going off his numbers and impact and my belief on what he is worth and it's hard believing he is worth the 4/156 or whatever is being floated around.

Either way his numbers are down and that has to be impacting him and knowing he is going to be up for a contract soon has to play a role. And he is catching a lot of heat for not producing in a system that isn't playing to his strengths so that has to be frustrating. But ultimately this is a business and he wants to get paid.

Nah

Bridges just showing us he has more stones than anyone else at the end of the day and outing Thibs publicly

The time and place to do this behind closed doors passed a long time ago so there is no relevant critique of Bridges for saying it now when Thibs has proven he will not change and will continue to manage the players to their physical detriment

Bridges will not get branded a malcontent by the league if he ends up elsewhere, because he's only saying what 90% of the world already knows and believes

If anything he'll be remembered for stepping up first and taking one for the team. And that will not cost him money, because all he is doing now is providing additional cover for the FO to do what everyone except a few trolls know needs to be done which is replace Thibs

OG and KAT benched before the 6 minute mark of the 1st quarter

Minutes Police must have gotten to Thibs today, lol
