Awesome! Great to hear. I think this kid is gonna surprise a lot of people next year. I can't wait to see what this kid can do next to Melo and Amare.

Williams seems confident he'll remain a Knick. That's good.

He should. He said he's willing to take a paycut to stay.

This has me hyped.
I can picture both coming in off the bench, Shumpert digging into the paint and kicking out to SW1 for the high-percentage corner three.

I wonder what type of role Shump is trying to prepare for? To become more of a true shooting guard to fight for the SG spot against Landry? Or tighten up his PG skills in hopes of being more versatile in seeing the floor as a rookie at either both back court spots? Maybe a bit of both?

His skill set and complete game has me really intrigued.

Based on his own comments, it looks like he is trying to be a PG off the bench.

You're right but I'm thinking they would consider playing TD at the 2 at times with Iman running point and then having TD guard the 1 on D and Iman guard the 2. I think they'll have TD play the 2 at times.

Shumpert/Douglas as a backcourt has a lot of defensive potential.

yup, and I think it will work because Toney is such a great spot-up 3 point shooter. Don't be fooled by last year streaky shooting, Toney played with a torn labrum all season.

When we go with a Billups/Shumpert backcourt, I hope Shumpert can be our Rondo-stopper.

I love Shawne. I actually love this roster right now. Our back court is underrated with Shumpert in the fold because no one is expecting anything from him outside of Knicks brass and the fans.

Melo, Amar'e, Billups, Shumpert, Fields, Douglas, Shawne and Turiaf are all good players. I have confidence in all of them to play hard, play smart and to play well in general. Willy Walker is solid for the most part and we have Harrellson and Jordan to look forward to as well. They could surprise by being contributors right away.. mostly on the boards and defense. I actually wouldn't be surprised at all to see either of them do that this year. I'm not mad at this team one bit.

Shumpert has said many times now since being drafted that he is a PG. And he says it with conviction. Obviously, if Mike or the next potential coach see it differently, that could change....but if it's up to Iman, he's our future at the point which is what I prefer and what I'm excited for. If he proves that he can be a real point guard for us with all of the extra bells and whistles he brings (size and athleticism), then he and Toney could become a VERY nice tandem. In which case adding a guy like Dwight or any other solid defensive center like Bogut becomes the clear cut priority for the Knicks. We could actually be a solid center away from real contention with the roster we have right now.

No one expects that. From a distance, the Knicks are full of holes when I don't believe they really are. Shumpert has a lot to do with that.

The only thing that would truly make me happy at this point is to know Landry is taking 500+ 3pt shots a day. I think Shump is gonna be a keeper and I know what everyone else will bring to the table:

Billups - Leadership
Amar'e - offensive domination (and occasional shotblocking)
Melo - Elite level shooting, rebounding and posting up at the wing
Turiaf - Shotblocking and toughness
Douglas/Shumpert - high intensity and energy on both sides of the ball
S. Will - defense and 3pt shooting at the 4
Walker - 3pt shooting from the bench
Harrelson/Jordan - getting used to the NBA 4/5 position

...but the 1 thing we absolutely need is a SG by definition. Landry needs to be that if he plans on surviving in NY. Think about Wilson Chandler and Gallinari. They never etched out a position for themselves (Gallo sometimes a 4 ...sometimes a 3. Chandlers sometimes a 3... sometimes a 4...occasionally a 2) so to get an elite level pure SF we moved 2 guys who had no real position. If Shumpert and Douglas are fighting for PG duties Landry needs to stake his claim as the undisputed SG.

Im with you TS.

Ive lost interest in the Knicks this offseason with the lockout and have been focused on other things in my life, but Im starting to get that hoops itch again (besides the rash on my thighs from running.. ew) and lookin forward to seein our boys on the court again.

As far as my man Shumpert goes everyone has high hopes for him now because hes been saying all the right things and seems to have been puttin in the work. He even spits bars lol. Cant hate on anything hes doing. Who knows how he would have done in summer league, but Im actually kinda happy we had no summer league because posters take it too serious. Shump would have been in the same situation as GTech in Summer League and been forced to carry the team, so I dont know how well or efficient he would have been. A guy like Shump obviously shines in a workout setting with his athleticism and size on display which is why we drafted him, but Im anxious to see how he plays 5 on 5. I think it will help him for sure being a role player.

At the very least I see a defensive beast off the bench who can guard 2-3 positions feasting for us. If he adds even an average jumper I think hes our SG for the next 10 years. And if he proves to be able to run the team then we could have an All Star PG. Yea my optimism is tasting fruitylicious right now. F*ck it right? This is the first offseason in 10 years we should be guaranteed for the playoffs unless God hates us .

I'm so excited to see this guy play. There are so many different places we can plug him in. Chauncey/Iman can work well because both can play both guard positions and we can put Shump on the more athletic guard (Iman on Rondo for the Celtics, Rose for Chicago, Wade for Miami, etc.) (Billups on Allen, Bogans/Korver, Chalmers). That would be huge for Chauncey, really give him a lot of breaks and help prevent some injuries. Iman/Landry will be awesome hustling on every play and reek havoc on the break, that's a lot of size for the guard positions. Iman/Douglas could be interesting because both are feisty defenders and TD's limited to essentially a shooter and Iman is a slasher. There's also a good chance we add a veteran wing.

If Shumpert's defense lives up to expectations, he could cover any one of Rondo/Allen/Pierce vs. the Celtics.

Exactly. I'm sure they're hoping he is gonna be their"stopper" on defense and guard guys like Rose, Rondo, Allen, Pierce, Wade, Lebron among others. I believe after he was drafted D'antoni was quoted as saying he can guard the 1, 2, and 3 positions. Kid has lots of potential .
