I can't wait for the House Judiciary Committee to hold hearings on this entire nomination process when Dems take it back. This will be a blood bath.

I hope so but we need to get it back first. There's a lot of darkness in America...I wouldn't be surprised if the Trumpists keep going.

That's my fear. Trump has a lot of momentum at the moment. Low unemployment, growing economy... People vote with their wallets. Regardless of whether it has anything to do with Trump or that the economy has had little impact on most American wages the overall feeling is that things are going well.

The conservative's have effectively portrayed Democrats and Liberals as sore losers and anti-American. Sometimes I feel like living in NYC has us living in a bubble.

As far as I'm concerned, the Democrats still lack a true presidential candidate. Most are too old and I'm not sure America is ready for a woman or another minority. Democrats need the liberal equivalent of Trump. Someone capable of speaking in punchline. Let's face it, most Americans don't read past headlines and want their news in minute's long soundbites.

Hope I'm wrong.

Bunch of liberal losers living in your elitist bubble. Democrats are complete obstructionist who want to give everything away for free on tax payer money.

That's true. I'm late for my meeting where we set the international agenda we profit from while screwing over real salt of the earth Americans like yourself.

I mean, if that's your takeaway from one party disagreeing with another over the role of the federal governments size and scope, the most salient REAL difference between the two parties (though is it? Government expansion was the largest under Reagan and Bush2) then, uh, have at it with the name calling. Sure the Democrats play identity politics. Some of that is good, some of it bad. Just like Republicans play identity politics, just a different kind.

Oh, since we are calling names. Toodles you Fascist Republic*nt.

Since I know you have a whole bank of bad names to objectify your fellow Americans who disagree with you, figured I'd get with the program too.

you know better. namecalling is not appropriate, even in retaliation or done poetically. report it and move on if you can't respond without violating forum rules yourself-JVG

Vote. Register vote in every single election. Vote strategically. Vote on single issues. Register other people and make sure they vote as well. Also get educated and informed about how the government works. 33% of registered voters are Democrats. 26% are Republican. 50% of all registered voters lean Democrat. There's way more of you guys than them. If Democrats turned out they win and you start setting your country back on the right track.

Ok, welcome. May I ask you a few of questions?

1. how old are you?

2. what do you do for a living?

3. approx. how much do you earn a year?

4. where do, specifically, you get your news from?

Donald Trump, Roy Moore and now Brett Kavanaugh. The correct term is the Rapepublican party.

The constitution is not a living document. What a great day for America.
Continue with your vitriol gentlemen, the silent majority will see you in a month.

Trust but verify.

Sometimes I feel like living in NYC has us living in a bubble.

Many NYCer's I know think New York is the center of the universe and that they know everything. This is coming from an ex-NYCer.

I'll just stay away from the whole state. All of the enlightened, judgmental, intolerant hippocrites can stay in the bubble of crime and trash and love each other.

I have no idea what you're getting at here, but I have a feeling it would be interesting to find out.

Considering most conservatives disapprove of judicial activism, especially as it regards the constitution.

Or considering the constitution has things called amendments.

Anyway, it's just sort of an odd statement that's hard to decipher, other than like many conservatives, your politics is defined by "liberals lost, so I like it". That part is easy. I'd assume the bolded supports it, just don't really understand how.

we're done here. not just because we can't keep this thread civil. i have been checking in periodically and this thread struggles to stick to the original topic. instead, it's a lot of schadenfreude and echo chamber.

a lot of good research and discussion here, but the issue originally at hand appears to have long run its course. i don't see the benefit of an echo chamber thread with occasional angry opposition interjection.
RIP magnumt

thanks for everything, thibs.
