If we get lucky and end up with Cade the need for a pure PG drops, you'd have a decent amount of playmaking between RJ & Cade that you can take a slower approach and maybe by the middle of the next season there would be a disgruntled PG on the market.

Did anyone watch Tennessee today? Curious to see Keon Johnson & Jaden Springer at this level.

If we get a top 5 pick and they don't select a star PG sitting there, Knicks fans will storm the owners house.
Obi falling to us is one thing but again?

Depends on what else they do & where we land on lottery night. Cade or Suggs would be awesome, but if we end up picking 5th or later; then I don't think it would be hard to argue that picking up Kuminga / Ziaire and using the Mavs picks to trade for someone like Garland, wouldn't be a better use of our assets than reaching for one of the UT guards (assuming neither one shows enough progress this season to challenge Suggs) with our pick.

The wings in this draft look like they'll become really f***in good, and having one of those studs next to RJ & Obi should make life a lot easier on whoever the nominal PG ended up.

E:
Spoiler:
Like, even if we end up picking 6-8 again (missing out on all of Cade / Green / Mobley / Suggs / Kuminga); I'd still be thrilled to move forward with some iteration of

*Garland* | Quickley
Barrett | Ntilikina
*Ziaire* | Burks | *Lewis*
Tobbin | Knox
Mitch | Noel | Spellman

...especially if RJ takes the step this season that it's looking like he's gunna take so far in the preseason.

So if we end up at #3 and Cade and Suggs go one-two. Do you seriously consider taking Mobley and trading Mitch?

Consider it? Yes, though I'd probably just take Green if he doesn't go top 2.

:o :o :o :o

Draft in my mind might end up like this :

1. Cavs - Cade Cunningham
2. Knicks - Jalen Suggs
3. Pistons - Evan Mobley
4. Hornets - Jalen Green
5. Thunder - Jonathan Kuzminga
6. Bulls - Jalen Johnson
8. Timberwolves (Warriors) - Scottie Barnes
9. Spurs - Ziaire Williams
10. Magic - BJ Boston

Leaving Moses Moody , James Bouknight , Jared Butler , Ayo Dosunmu available with our pick potentially at 22nd-24th (Dallas) and having : Suggs, (SG listed above), RJ, Obi, Mitch for our future

or

Would you think Mitch + 22nd + Dallas 2023 have enough leverage to get us into the top 5 again to select another pick or would you rather keep those ?

(potential)2021 season : Suggs, Green, RJ, Obi, Noel or 2021 season: Suggs, Frank, RJ, Obi, Mobley

Not unless Mitch learns to stay on the court & starts shooting 3s at a league-average rate

pretty cool highlights, can't say I really care much about stats from a g league scrimmage though. looking forward to seeing more as he's been near the top of the board for me

yeah the pull up 3 was the only really nice thing I took from that clip. Otherwise it was pretty much uncontested fast break dunks.

Really wish we could be seeing this kid in college right now.

I didn't mean it had to be those two specific developments; my point was moreso that for Mitch to bring back a top 5 pick he'd need to take the kind of steps that would make us probably not want to trade him.

Now for the 8th-10th pick? That Mitch might be able to bring back with only realistic progression...and if the Mitch-Obi fit is as rough as some folks are worried it will be; then a 8-10 pick could be an interesting return for something based around one of our those big men.

At least if we luck into Cade/Suggs with our pick and so won't need to save our powder for a young NBA PG like Garland/Anthony(/Lonzo if they get impatient & try to do something in-season).

Cade could probably play small ball 4 in spurts at the next level
