If we reform campaign finance - across the board - that will further limit the influence of unions. Unions today, compared to the U.S. glory years, are dying across the country. Police and Fire don't have the right to strike. Unions are not the problem in my opinion. The middle class is getting killed.

Its amazing how he gets away with ridiculing people of faith, in such a distasteful way, in this day and age of political correctness...Kobe gets crucified, for the camera picking up him saying ****...Mahr, who's one of the most powerful political pundits around, continually mocks Christians and other religions openly...No one says a word about it..

pleasantly surprised to hear ur thoughts on the unions, which have been bleeding the private sector, and taxpayer dry.

Im all for campaign finance reform and helping the middle class, but frankly currently the word union is toxic and should not be brought up to help make one's position

"Distasteful"? Are you serious with that? Distasteful? He's a comedian making fun of people and their religions. He made the movie Religulous. Does his comedy really offend your taste? How should it be stated to make it more "tasteful" in your considered comedic opinion?

That's what republicans do best and, frankly, they are to be commended for their proficiency. They are studs on steroids when it comes to marketing their ideas and they say and do it in one voice. They take the word "taxes" and make it a plague. They take what was Bob Dole's health plan, which democrats put into law, and turn it into ObamaCare. They can get Weiner to resign but the dems can't get Vitter to resign. Maybe that's the price dems pay for having a bigger more diversified tent?

If ur going to say comedy is comedy, that's fine but in this day and age people have criticized for much less then what he gets away with....I do find it distasteful when he continually mocks people of faith, but hey if that 's the type of humor that floats ur boat, then that's fine....Just don't say other jokes that don't go along with ur political ideology are (Michael Savage sheep voice) offeeeeensive.

Unions? What unions? Unions are at their historical low in terms of numbers. Police and Fire departments can't strike. Maybe the private sector should do its job after 10 years of tax cuts and record profits, huh? (I thought tax cuts were supposed to create jobs?) Why isn't the private sector hiring? I'll tell you why, because it wants a shytty jobs record for Obama. It doesn't want the economy to improve. That way it can help get a Republican into office who won't veto government-killing/pro-business legislation. Say goodbye to medicare, say goodbye to education, etc.

Thankfully, Obama saved the auto industry (and the rest of the economy for that matter) or the jobs situation would have been much worse.

I find Maher to be funny sometimes and an absolute idiot other times. I don't understand how someone who champions himself as a man of reason can be an anti-vaccine loony. It doesn't make sense to me at all.

^^^ EXS, I didn't say that and you know it. I was pointing out that fact to rebut your claim that unions are bleeding us dry.

Funny, you should say that as republicans do everything in their power to take away the rights of our first responders while closing down fire houses and police districts while ensuring, via the NRA, that every lunatic in the country can get his/her hands on any assault weapon they choose.

Always trying to change the subject when the walls are closing in on you. LOL. Speaking of which, I'm still waiting for you to tell all of us why you punked out on enlisting in the U.S. Armed Services.

Actually, I already know the answer. But I want to see you memorialize it.

That would require me to read over all of our recent replies, which is much to painful. So, what was the reason?

I didn't read the HuffingtonPost "spin" as you call it. I just watched the video. You think Stewart "got killed." I got to hear this. And please explain in sufficient detail so that even I can understand it.

He probably doesn't have wi-fi access at the homeless shelter. I dont wish him ill, but I like it better not seeing his self righteous pomposity on the board.

Oh and are you really serious about unions Wingo? Why shouldn't you be I guess being that your party is in bed with them. Why is it that Suffolk County cops average salary across the board now is over a 100k a year when you factor in the OT and other perks? Is that not egregious? Of course it is. Especially when NYPD makes 70% of that if they're lucky for a much more demanding job.

Do you realize states unfunded pension liabilities cumulatively are in the trillions? Where do you fiscally sane democrats stand on that issue? {I know that term is an oxymoron there are no fiscally sane democrats}

Im sure youve had family members that were long time union men and that clouds your otherwise spotless judgment, but come on man, dont peddle that crap around here and not expect to be called on it.

My grandfather was in the union with PAN-AM for 23 yrs, you know where it got him? F'd in the a, with 8 cents on the dollar for his pension.

Unions are inherently corrupt and financial vampires. They are draining the lifeblood of this economy and making America a less than ideal place to do business.

And spare me the bleeding heart monologue about workers rights, safety, etc, this is 2011, not Upton Sinclair's 1906's, the jungle. The workplace has plenty of safeguards in place for worker health and to protects their rights against all the various gender, sex, racial, etc discrimnations you dems love to whine about.
Trust but verify.

It's not "distasteful" to mock one's faith when they expect and desire our political leaders to make political and legislative decisions based on that "faith." Those people should be mocked ... and mocked heavily. That's not what our forefathers would approve of.
