the nets don't want leonard. they want crabbe. they signed him to an offer sheet which is how he got that money. it does make sense with russell now though that lin is expendable.

I could see Nets jumping in if they can get back a guy like Crabbe (who they wanted in the past). If Lin was healthy, he'd be a good PG to play next to Frank and THjr.

portland likes harkless so they're not gonna give him up and receive no cap savings - they would have to get the pick not the nets

Crabbe makes a good amount more than Lin. So another piece would have to be sent out from the Nets. The trade doesn't work flat like that.

Unless Anderson to Portland Crabbe to Brooklyn and Lin and Booker to Knicks Melo to Houston That works close enough money wise.... We get Lin and expiring

I mean age is literally the only factor in why you take Russell over Lin. Sure, Russell was the #2 pick, has a flashy game, but right now, objectively speaking, Lin is the better basketball player. Russell is overrated by some on this board, he just hasn't been very good at all. Sure the Lakers had to dump Mosgov's contract, but Magic couldn't wait to get rid of Russell.

If Knicks got Lin, and Portland got C.Lee than this deal might get done. Portland doesn't do this deal as it is now. Knicks have to accept 1 pick and Harkless for both Melo & Lee. Lin makes things interesting enough for us to consider this.

I still prefer getting D'Russ and a a package of younglings and giving up a pick along with Melo.
