Re: Tom Thibodeau fired pt 2
this is from the espn roundtable discussion involving alan hahn
i am only including things hahn said because he is an employee of msg
"if they dont make the conference finals, something horrible happens. lets start there, right? like something really bad happen for everybody on that team. you are both right, because its going to be both stars. its the whole team. its OG anunoby. its mikal bridges. its everybody on that team. here's why...because the players, in their exit interviews, are what motivated the decision by the upper management to fire tom thibodeau. thats what we were told. the players had a list of complaints. they did not have the full support of the coach. the things they said in these meetings motivated the move to fire the coach now rather than if we go into the next season and the problems continue, now we have to fire a coach mid-season. we dont want to do that, so just do it now. so that's to me why it leaves it all on the players now to prove that, with a new coach and a new voice and a new system, whatever it is, that they can now reach potential that some people thought they did not reach this past season.
so its all that yes, mike brown is also going to feel it because he has to come in and take a team and the expectation is 50 wins and at worst, the conference finals, but at least, the nba finals, but these players are going to hear it in this market about it because you made a coaching change at a most critical time. I always refer to the jenga game; you take the wrong piece out, the whole tower comes down...and thats what you want to see was the wrong piece taken out
like, there is an urgency in the Knicks organization that i have not felt in the 20 years that I covered the team. thats what next season represents"
farewell comment from the gents:
"mike brown hasnt spent a day as head coach of the knicks. is he already in the hot seat? obviously"

Did we? I haven't seen them play yet. Hmmm.
We had able bodies who were good enough to play and we didn't play them, That's what I am talking about. Most of the time when he did play them they played well and he would bench them anyway. You do realize he got fired for this right? We had a bench.
If you think Clarkson is an upgrade over Shamet ok. I disagree. Yabu over Precious? Is that a tough decision to make? Our bench consisted of:
Deuce/Payne/Shamet/Wright/Precious/Mitch/Kolek/Huk/Pac etc.
All were healthy the second half of the season except for Huk.
We played:
Deuce/Mitch
Anyone else was fighting to get 5-10 minutes and maybe 30 minutes combined.
It cost him his job according to reports.
We had a bench. We still have almost the same exact bench with two different players. Thibs would have still played them just as few minutes.
Look, when Hart came off the bench, Thibs played him. Same for IQ. Same for Mitch once he was cleared to play more minutes. He knew who was ready and who wasn’t. I hope if these youngsters develop that people give Thibs the proper respect. There’s no coach who is more prepared than him. Here’s iHart discussing Thibs:
You people who dogged him gonna get FAFO’d.
We had a bench. Thibs is no longer here. Do the math. He sucked at utilizing his bench. Game over.

Until the Pacers series. Then they weren’t liabilities anymore. Or maybe they were? Who knows.

Decent FA bench players wouldn't sign with us knowing Thibs wouldn't play them. The only paths to upgrading the bench were: trade a core player or dump the orc so FA's will sign with us.
They dumped the orc and now we suddenly have a deeper bench.

Thibs has also had better benches here than what Mike Brown will have this season.
Thibs is trash...glad he's gone. Sorry Thibs apologists, he ain't coming back ....EVER.

IHart signed with us to be on Thibs bench.
If Shamet, Wright and Payne are so good then other playoff teams should be trying to get them in their rotation right now...

If you actually had a real point to make, then Tom wouldn't be out of the league
Thibs sucked and didn't even attempt to develop the bench........ This may have been his last gig as HC. He's washed.. ..
The players and FO saw Thibs' refusal to use the bench and wanted Thibs gone. Well done Leon! and glad the players were honest!
You think free agents want to come play for Tom.

Re: Tom Thibodeau fired pt 2
knicks need a coach that knows exactly how to use players the FO just nabs during free agencies and deadlines. Mike Brown needs to be this guy, for his own sake, because Thibs didnt know how to use the pieces given to him and just relied on starters and got canned for it

It s been reported Dolan and WWW orchestrated Thibs firing for mostly personal beef. If the bench was so good where are all the suitors for them, WE haven't even them back yet lol

Where did anyone say the "bench was so good"?
The bench was not UNPLAYABLE. The rookies were not UNPLAYABLE.
Thibs got fired for refusing to play them or even giving the bench an opportunity to develop. The PLAYERS wanted him gone...There's no crazy conspiracy theory to it.
Thibs is azz and he got canned for being a stubborn dinosaur who can't coach in this era. Glad he's gone....keep that orc FAR away from my Knicks.

It was Mikal since he can leave after next season, and he was also the one that publicly said Thibodeau needs to play the bench more.

Why does it have to be either/or? And why only two players?
