yeah, but on how many shots.
What scares me is what Gallo can become with a coach who will use his talents correctly for the betterment of the team vs a coach that uses the team's style to fit the player.
carmelo still shoots 45% from the field and 83% from the line that is pretty effecient. also what people aren't taken into consideration in 4th qtr scoring where melo is one of the best finishers in the league and can make shots late when the defense intensity rises. Gallo right is too streaky to make a big enough impact late in playoff games
I got no problem trading Gallo and Chandler for Melo. Gallo's inconsistency and disappearing acts have me frustrated with him. No doubt Melo is an elite finisher which any team needs in order to compete at a high level.
But Gallo as a 6th man has me salivating. Probably getting 32 mpg playing the 2,3 and some 4. I don't think Gallo will ever be the scorer that Melo is, but I believe Gallo can be a player that can make his teammates better (a la Fields) and this is an important piece of the puzzle for any championship caliber team. Having Gallo AND Melo would be awesome and if I was GM I just might play a game of chicken with Denver on Gallo not being part of the trade. There still is a possibility that Melo still wants NY only, and if the trade deadline passes he will become a FA. Melo ain't giving up $50 mil like someone said. If they adjust the CBA down he may lose $6 mil or so off his new contract. While that's not chicken feed, it certainly shouldn't be a deal breaker if he really wants NY (se Lebron and Bosh). Dolan would take care of him in other ways to compensate outside of the rules anyway ...... let's be serious.
