He was also on a team filled with youth and was the leading veteran, whereas Tyson would be coming to a team with established leadership and vets.

Dallas had players who put up 5 and 5 at C. Dampier, etc. That wasn't good enough.

Replacing 5 and 5 guys with Chandler made a huge difference on that team. They became a top 10 defensive team and won the championship.

Defense wins championships. And with Amare we need a legit defensive presence next to him. There's no other way around it.

Again, every championship team had all-NBA defensive players at PF and/or C in recent years. Except the Lakers. But they had Gasol/Bynim/Odom who can control the boards and they still dominated the paint.

The paint and interior D is the most CRUCIAL part of playoff basketball. You are not going to win with no presence there.

Dallas was already a great team before Chandler got there. We're barely a playoff team.

Dallas lost in the first round last year with a similar team minus Chandler. Carlisle was even on the hot seat.

No, part of the mechanism for getting under the cap is renouncing the MLE. Assuming they get rid of Billups and Turiaf, the MLE would count against their cap number until they renounce it.

1. DeAndre isn't going anywhere. He is a RFA. How owuld it look to offer him 10 million over 4 years and the Clippers to match and screw us?

We're overpaying, but people are being too dismissive of Chandler as a player. He's an elite defensive player and good rebounder. He directly addresses our biggest needs. Some optimism about how this team will do with him is warranted.

Call me crazy but I am super excited. It was a long shot that we were getting CP3 this year and we didnt have a chance in hell at competing with the lineup we had. With Chandler and a decent PG, we can be pretty damn good IMO.

Im sorry but anyone who is comparing chandler to any bust player we have signed is out of there mind. this guy is a proven champion, he is the reigning champion. None of those players you named up there have ever proven themselves.
