You only sign a guy like this for that kind of money when you already have a contender in place. Get ready for another decade of mediocrity fellow Knick fans. Fringe playoff team for the next 4 years coupled with multiple first round exits, no draft picks, and then 6 years of 30-win seasons and no picks.

Wait wait.

Are you seriously comparing Deng/Hinrich/Ben Gordon to Melo/Amar'e?

C'mon dude, we're in a much better position to contend than that Chicago team was prior to Ben Wallace. Wallace also dogged it as soon as he got his. He was also older than Tyson. He was also on a team filled with youth and was the leading veteran, whereas Tyson would be coming to a team with established leadership and vets.

Completely different scenarios.

Defense wins championships. And with Amare we need a legit defensive presence next to him. There's no other way around it.

Again, every championship team had all-NBA defensive players at PF and/or C in recent years. Except the Lakers. But they had Gasol/Bynim/Odom who can control the boards and they still dominated the paint.

The paint and interior D is the most CRUCIAL part of playoff basketball. You are not going to win with no presence there.

Dallas was already a great team before Chandler got there. We're barely a playoff team.

Dallas lost in the first round last year with a similar team minus Chandler. Carlisle was even on the hot seat.

C: Chandler
PF: Amare
SF: Melo

We are still a work in progress but our front line is set. And we just picked up the hardest piece to find. Defensive C to pair next to Amare
Mavs
C: Horford | Goga | Paul Reed |
PF: Lauri Markkanen | Randle | Tucker
SF: Trey Murphy | Trent | Anderson | Simone
SG: Vassell | Trent | Livingston
PG: Spida | Mann | Deuce

No, part of the mechanism for getting under the cap is renouncing the MLE. Assuming they get rid of Billups and Turiaf, the MLE would count against their cap number until they renounce it.

They'll have the new $2.5m exception.

Would you rather have Tyson Chandler at $14m...

or

Deandre Jordan at $10m, with the added ability to use Turiaf's expiring to find a pg?

I dunno. Chandler was a nobody when Dallas got him and he blew up. I feel like Jordan is about to do the same.

Lol

After losing to Miami they got bounced out the first and 2nd round every time.

6th seed is barely a playoff team? Your making us sound like the Bucks or Sixers. Relax, bro. Give it a chance before you knock it.

i do agree

if we arent getting CP

and have 14 mill to use, i much rather split it up on 2 players, then on 1 player who has had some really average seasons

Clippers have reportedly already offered him that much, and they hold his RFA rights.

How do you suppose they let him walk for less than what they already offered him?

Did you just compare Amar'e Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony to Luol Deng, Kirk Hinrich and Ben Gordon?

SMFH...

If you took those three at the absolute peak of their value and tried to trade them for STAT and Melo at their absolute lowest value, you'd get laughed out of the building and then fired by your own team for wasting company time on idiotic trade proposals.

Not even close to being analogous situations.

The Lakers were about ready to pull the trigger on a Kobe-to-Chicago deal a few years back. Kobe refused to waive his no-trade clause if Deng was involved.

You're probably one of the same people that thought we were championship contenders when we got Zach Randolph.

SeanDeveney Sean Deveney
Source: Jeff Foster's first choice: Indy. 2nd: Knicks. If IND goes another direction and NYK lands Chandler, Minny and Houston are next.

Oh well.

I don't think the Clippers are not letting Blake's best friend Jordan go for nothing.

I think they'd match or we'd have to try to send something there way.

1. DeAndre isn't going anywhere. He is a RFA. How owuld it look to offer him 10 million over 4 years and the Clippers to match and screw us?

2. Nobody and I mean nobody is trading a PG for Turiaf unless that PG is Jonny Flynn or a D-leaguer.

WT is reporting players can renegotiate existing contacts so teams can increase space. Are you guys sure you didn't have a chance to sign Paul?

Call me crazy but I am super excited. It was a long shot that we were getting CP3 this year and we didnt have a chance in hell at competing with the lineup we had. With Chandler and a decent PG, we can be pretty damn good IMO.

Yeah but it doesn't look as good on the front page of the post. The Dolan Knicks will never buy low on a player. The whole mentality is to make a splash.

And while DeAndre is restricted, there's a chance that Clips won't match $10m.

I'm going to assume you were once a big time Isiah lover (probably still are) and loved the following players:

Eddy Curry
Zach Randolph
Jamal Crawford
Stephon Marbury
Nate Robinson
Steve Francis
Etc.

Those guys have nothing to do with Chandler but from your post history you seem like someone who just throws things out there with nothing to back it up.

Look at the STATS!!! Tyson Chandler was in the running for DPOY and he was a big part of the Mavs D and a even bigger reason they won besides Dirk. So before you come at people watch some basketball. I bet you wanted CP3 didnt you? The kNicks have been wanting a real Defensive Minded Center for like 10 years. Get out of my face ....

Im sorry but anyone who is comparing chandler to any bust player we have signed is out of there mind. this guy is a proven champion, he is the reigning champion. None of those players you named up there have ever proven themselves. Got to respect Chandler because of the ring on his finger, Im hoping he sets this defense straight like KG did with the Celtics and liek he did with the Mavs.
