You want to talk about how Dolan's received walking down the street - you may be onto something.. I bet a lot of fans will be annoyed with him..
The fans will also have less tolerance for the team in general, IF they are losing... Simply bc of the possibility that things may have been different with Lin... And perhaps, as the star of the team, Melo will take the blunt of that.

Thanks. I'll still check in now and again after the Lin post-mortem is over (this week and the next few weeks I guess). I just won't follow the team or get invested at all but I'll do a little moderating to stay in touch.

It's not about Lin. This team suffered through the most embarrassing decade a sports team has ever gone through because its basic philosophy was to replace youth with overrated veterans. This move proves that that philosophy is still driving this team.
If any other team let Lin go after what he did this season, I'd see your point. But with this team is really strikes a nerve for a lot of fans.

Who cares if this team has players who are bad people? I don't think pistons fans cared at all when they won 2 rings in a row 20 years ago. It's all about the laundry and entertainment for me. Just help my team win and distract me like sports should do postivively. Jason Kidd gets a triple double against the Celtics at home leading the Knicks to a win. I'm not gonna care that the guy is a jerk off the court at that monent

No I'm pretty calm today though. I just mean every word of it earnestly. It's not over the top is it?
Trading Lin for Felton is like throwing in the towel. I'm not sure what can be overstated about a team throwing in the towel AND turning a good part of their club over to the likes of JR Smith.
Remember when JR was celebrating and the ball went the other way for an easy score (against Miami)? That encapsulates the kind of team we'll be.
Remember when Melo got into it with JR after he nailed his big 3 after LeBron's big 3? Remember how Woodson would REAM people on the sidelines? Sorry, losing Lin does not turn us into that team. We have a coach that preaches accountability. That is key. Woody doesn't take BULL.

I think theres still a good chance we match the offer, probably won't hear anything official another 8 hrs but not gonna lie, if we don't end up matching its gonna hurt watching Lin light up teams on the Rockets...especially if its against Felton at the garden...imagine if we don't match Lin he comes into MSG and lights up Felton and the Knicks for 40...some fans will start burning effigies of Dolan lol

I think you're underestimating the level of anger and depression. And you're overestimating the solution that winning will provide. Fans in NY are sophisticated -- they know you're not going anywhere with Ray Felton at point. The wins will keep the boos at bay but they won't satisfy the fan base.
MSG will be a morgue or a hostile environment. I promise you.

Ok guys, forget about hypothetical wagering and sig bets...if Lin is not matched tomorrow, I will purchase tickets for opening day in the lower section, run out onto the court during play with a sign that says "Don't Tase Me, Bro," and throw cupcakes at Felton and attempt to eat his flesh until the security staff puts me down.

Is 17/7 the definition of an average player? SAS says it is.

Isn't it obvious? Isiah still runs the team.

Exactly how I feel. We should sign Lin, but I'm not jumping off of a bridge if we don't. The histrionics are ridiculous.

No. Nothing new. Just that the Knicks can waive Lin after year 2 and use the stretch provision to save a lot of the made up luxury tax issue.
