Your tax dollars at work America. And to the ill informed poster who questioned left wing bias in media, here you go, get it yet? Probably not, because if you even had to ask a question like that in the first place, you're out of your element.
NPR host: ‘The Taliban has never been an enemy of the United States’ (Huh???)
Daily Caller ^ | 6/20/11 | Jeff Poor
So what if the pre-2002 Taliban government of Afghanistan harbored terrorists that were responsible for the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks. And never mind if more recently the Taliban reacted to the death of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden with a pair of suicide bombers – they’re not really our enemies.
That’s the takeaway from public radio host John Hockenberry, whose show “The Takeaway” appears on NPR stations all over the country.
In an interview with Christine Fair, assistant professor at the Center for Peace and Security Studies at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., Hockenberry challenged the notion of the Taliban being an enemy of the United States and declared that the idea it could again make Afghanistan a haven for terrorists “an absurdity.”
“I guess, Christine Fair, I’m wondering why this is even a debate,” Hockenberry said. “The Taliban has never been an enemy of the United States. They don’t love us in Afghanistan, but they’re not sending planes over to New York or to the Pentagon and it seems to me much more broadly that the debate needs to happen is what is the sort of multi-state strategy for dealing with rogue nations of all kinds. Yemen is about to fall apart. You’ve got Somalia problems. The idea that terrorists just go to Afghanistan and launch weapons at the United States it seems in 2011 is an absurdity.”
Fair agreed with Hockenberry’s assertion and questioned why there is such a U.S. military presence in Afghanistan.
“Well, of course you know I’m in violent agreement with you,” she said. “I don’t get this strategy and I haven’t gotten this strategy for some time. It’s clear that having 130,000 troops in Afghanistan has actually made things worse than where we were even five years ago.”

Conservatives have long complained about liberal media bias. But conservative media bias seems to be much worse.
Most news stations have more Republican members of congress than Democrat except for MSNBC of course.
Conservatives are featured in vastly more stories.
A handful (Disney, CBS Corporation, News Corporation, TimeWarner, and General Electric) of corporate conglomerates own the majority of mass media outlets. Such a uniformity of ownership means that stories which are critical of these corporations are in some cases underplayed in the media.
America is a conservative nation, the media plays right in to this.
The television media is absolutely controlled by capitalists who are going to push ideas that help them. The media is not liberal and never has been.

Pharmcat, first of all, why can't you admit someone your fond of lost a debate?
Second of all I have no problem saying fox news is the "counterweight" to NBC, or any other more subtle media competitor....Stewart's claim is that Fox is different...No all of media outlets have political agendas..fox news just doesn't fit his political persuasion, so he unfairly demonises them.
Third there is no proof that Fox viewers are more uniformed than any other viewers of other networks...he just doesn't like the ideology, so he calls those that subscribe to it dumb....If u are going to take a poll, that asks 3 questions, and claim that for absolute truth, your only doing that to satisfy your predisposition...I can provide a poll that shows MSNBC viewers are the dumbest.
Of course Fox would edit him saying they represent a counter view....it could be used as ammo...that wasn't the crux of the debate....Stewart claims fox is a propaganda machine, that is unique in its tactics...Wallace proved to him Fox isn't the only one that is projecting bias, as a matter of fact fox proved he was.
The fact that he's crying now is a tell tell sign he got annihilated...the Daily news is a Rag btw...

Oh ESX, I remember how liberal the media was after 9/11 and the run-up to the war in Iraq.

Doom I have nothing personal against you...Let's throw out critical thinking...you don't even know what information is out there....I not looking to sound paternal, but it starts with following the news, learning some history, hearing many points of view, then maybe you can learn how to ba a critical thinker...Ignore all your beliefs that u have now, and start this process.

Checkmate!
Chris Wallace: "We are the counterweight to NBC ... we tell the other side of the story."
I guess that pretty much obliterates the whole "Fair and Balanced" argument, huh?
The good thing is we can all move on now that we KNOW that Fixed News is a shill for the GOP.
Thank you Chris Wallace.

^^^^ It's a beautiful thing. Can't wait to hear "the dark side" try to weasel out of that. Should be fun to watch them flail away.
