We could probably beat Chicago, Orlando, or Atlanta but get bounced by Boston or Miami this year. Next year, with some pieces added, a top 4 seed in the east and a potential ECF appearance.

So basically no better than we would be with the group we have now? Great to know we are gutting the future for a 1 1/2 year run that's a wash. -Jitpal

I feel like I'm the only one who's more upset at losing Felton in this deal than Gallo or Chandler. Sure Billups is a decent stopgap, but 2012 is a pipedream. If people didn't have this absurd notion that we can chase after Paul/Deron next, despite having Melo/Amar'e take up 75% of the cap, they'd realize that we need Felton post-trade more than Gallo.

agreed. that's the worst part of this deal.

Agreed. I wouldn't be nearly as pissed if it weren't for this Felton/Billups swap. That is some real bullsh*t.

It's about building is it not.... besides the handful of people who will be holding melo accountable upon our very first loss, and suddenly forget the 8 game losing streaks we've had, I think most would recognize this as a big step in the building process.

there is no telling what Melo and Amare can do once Donnie works his magic in the next part of the process, which if it isn't signing Paul/Williams, will be surrounding them with pieces needed.

Why are there no reports of this trade coming to a close?

GONYK ,

I love you for even acknowledging me and we just bust chops . And maybe i want Melo too much. But do you think this reported deal is too much ? And i know he is not in rumored offer but what do you think is Mosgov's celing?

It's really only Felton/Randolph part of this I'm upset about. Mostly because we can very easily get screwed at those positions (If Billups wants a buyout, and when Amar'e has to sit out games).

this deal helps us. i dont understand why people are crying. dont you guys understand that we tanked 2 straight years and are currently 2 games over 500. we dont have time to wait for oer the summer. because if we lose him we are stuck with this team and we arent good enough. stop freaking cring and being attached to players so much. melo just had 38 pts. when was the last time gallo wilson or felton had a 30 pt game. wake up fellas.

some funs understand that you dont trade all of your players for a player that is coming anyway. You dont trade all of your players for someone not named LBJ, Deron, Cp3, Dwight, Wade

what bothers me is that melo is a free agent at years end, and denver is going to get a boatload of talent.. I mean really? what did the cavs and raptors get?

this deal is stupid and definately at what we are giving up.. Hey, i make it no secret I like gallo, and I think he has an old school flavor to his game, that is rare in young players... but even then, it is just not gallo, it is chandler, felton who we just lured here this summer, and we are doing so , just to make sure melo gets paid... really? wow.. not a way to run a sucessful organization... reports say dantoni and walsh are against the deal.... I wonder why?

We aren't getting past Chicago and Orlando with no bench

Yeah because we would be going too this season with this team, right?

And next season too? or next season while wasting cap space on a mediocre C and mediocre role players?

I'd be willing to swap for Billups if we knew Chris Paul or Deron Williams were coming and took a MLE.

Denver demanded any potential suitor bend over, and Dolan's asked, how far - and don't bother with the lube.

Dempsey is one of the few writers close to Melo. He told Tommy Dee that he doesn't see Melo signing with NJ

+100

If we aren't getting through them after building around Melo and Amare, it certainly isn't happening with the current team and our 'great bench'

I can't disagree with this @ all my friend. It would be nice if Dolan just cut the checks & leave the Basketball Operations to those people who know what their doing.. (those not name Isiah Thomas)
