They likely won't be goin on sale for the general public - if season tickets really were sold out this year, plus people that got mini/half season plans get priority over the general public, i'm willing to bet they'd be all gone.

OT: PUSHUPS
I know there are a lot of people here who can offer some advice on this. Hitting the gym really isn't that practical for me at the moment for a number of reasons, but I am extremely focused on getting into tip-top shape and I'm looking to workouts I can do from home to get that done. Are pushups a legit option?
I'm about 5'11", 175-180 pounds and I'm in decent shape....just don't have the size and definition that I want. I've been going pretty hard as far as working out and dieting for a little over a month now and I'm seeing decent results but I know that I'm not doing everything by the book and don't want to plateau at such an early stage in the game.
I just kind of do random workout routines. I've hit the gym when I could which has been at random...but I've mostly just did hour long workouts of various styles of pushups one day, then an hour long full-body workout the next....then a p90x session of arm workouts the day after that....then back to pushups, so on and so forth...with cardio on most days and a day or 2 of rest per week in between. Like I said, my diet game has been pretty on point as well although I haven't kept exact numbers on calories and grams of protein. I just eat every 2-3 hours, very low-fat, low-sugar, high in protein, with lots of fruits and veggies and I've tried to limit my carbs as much as possible during the latter parts of the day. I want a ripped stomach but still want to gain muscle, especially in the chest area.
So my main question is, can I do this with pushups so long as I continue to diet the right way? I just did some reading on this and found a lot of different opinions. Some say you can't gain much size without hitting the weights, and other people swear by it if it's done correctly. I read a lot about high-volume pushups. People doing between 500-1000 a day. I've also read about Tony Atlas and his program that builds you up to doing 100 in one set....which takes some time but apparently builds size. Others say you shouldn't overwork the chest and limit chest workouts to around twice a week, even if you're only doing pushups.
Basically, I can go on and on about different routines I read about and different strategies I read about but I'd like to see what you guys have to say.

For what it's worth...I do have some dumbbells, a barbell and a pull-up bar to work with. I know it can't hurt to incorporate pull-ups and dips into my routines...but is there something specific I can do with all of that combined to get the most out of what I'm trying to do from home?

Re: OT: PUSHUPS
For one I would say put on a backpack filled with books or something and do pushups with that. Anything to add to the weight. To build muscle it is best to do high intensity exercises that you can do like max of 8 reps per set.
Pullups are great for building a nice physique i think. Wear the weighted backpack for them too. Do em with your legs parallel to the ground to add in abs.
I think the best thing if you wanna build muscle would be to lift heavy weights though. Squats, Deadlifts, Bench, weighted dips, weighted chins...

Re: OT: PUSHUPS
If you burn your chest out with pushups then immediately get on your back and use the bells to do flies you can get a good burn in your chest going.
Learn the different positions of pushups and what points they effect then use the bells to further stress those points after. Same for shoulders. Climb the wall feet up. Push up until failure immediately get back on your feet, and use the bells for a shoulder press.

Pushups have been around forever for a reason, they are a a very effective exercise. But I would not endorse it as a sole means of working out. The more different things you can incorporate into your workout the better IMO.

Re: OT: PUSHUPS
Walmart has a sale on body fortress super advanced whey protein. I think its 16 bucks for a big tub. I know its not the best on the market, but for the price it does its job well. It also contains a little creatine. Right after you do your routine have 2 scoops with 2 cups of water. 52 grams of protein right to your mussels. And some creatine for the next session.
A 2 scoops shake is 280 calories I think. But if your doing 1 hour sessions of calisthenics and incorporating weights you probably just burned twice that anyway. So its well worth it to get that protein to your muscles.

Re: OT: PUSHUPS
First thing's first. If you're looking to gain size it starts with the diet before anything. You have to ingest the necessary amount of protein. You ideally want to be eating around your body weight in grams of protein per day and you probably aren't because normal people don't unless they're bulking. Egg Whites, Skim Milk, Peanuts, Peanut Butter, Black Beans(or really any kind of beans), Beef Jerky and Whey Protein are all your friends. P90x is probably the way to go to get you the definition you want and if you're consuming enough protein it's then a good base for after the 90 days when you need to start doing less reps of heavier lifting to increase your mass.

Re: OT: PUSHUPS
it is EXTREMELY difficult to get BOTH (ripped abs and add size) at the same time... especially if you're going to wing it and do random exercises every week.
in order to get a 6 pack, you're gonna have to lose fat. by losing fat, you're automatically going to lose some muscle too.
what most people usually do is they bulk up first by eating a lot (and it doesn't always have to be healthy). Then, once they get to the point where they've added as much mass as they would like, they start cutting... which means they start eating healthy and losing fat in order to get more defined. at the same time, though, you do as much as you can to maintain your muscle.
if you're trying to bulk up, you don't really need to be doing much cardio.

If you are low on time and want a great workout that adds size and burns fat, I'd suggest kettle bell training. It will make you crazy strong too.
As far as dieting to put on size, when you eat is as important as what you eat. I have a program I can send you that you input your current measurements and your goals and it will make a customized meal plan for you. Let me know if youre interested in that.

You bring up a good point. A lot of dudes lose sight of the cardio and ab toning side of things because they get really caught up in adding mass. I mean it's cool to have big well defined arms and all but at the end of the day isn't the goal of fitness to be fit?

^Yeah.....I really don't wanna add fat...especially with the summer coming. That is the whole point. I mean, I'd like to be big....but I'd happily sacrifice some size for an overall toned and fit look. I think I can do both if I eat right and work hard. Over this past month or so, I've definitely added some size while cutting fat simultaneously.
I may have to start eating a little more though. I eat a decent amount but it is mostly lean aside from the protein. I need to up my calories a little bit.
GONYK...def send that to me! That would be greatly appreciated. Need an email address?

Re: OT: PUSHUPS
I didnt read the rest of the thread, but i will offer my advice quickly before i leave.
PUSHUPS AND PULLUPS ARE THE BEST EXCERSISES YOU CAN DO. I do them daily, i go to the gym also, but i also do pushups daily. They work out your entire upper body. You need to do them untill you get your arms fatigued though. Try this
I will do a mix of close and wide grip pushups. Close for Triceps and Wide for your chest/back more. I will do as many as i can before i get fatigued. Meaning you keep going untill you can not do anymore. Then what i do afterwords is follow those with Girl pushups. Meaning you get on your knees and then do pushups.
Pull ups are another thing you can do which really work. Getting a pullup bar to fit on your door is not expensive at all.
Another thing i suggest you try doing is dips. Great for your triceps. I gtg now though, but ill be back later to offer more advice/suggestions if you reply to my post.
Edit: When you do your pushups, make sure you do a variety. Sometimes i will do them slowly, other times i will do them fast. Exploding up will offer you better results also. I also do clap pushups, which basically u go down, push up hard, then clap your hands. These will do alot for your strength.

Totally agree, the song really grates on me and sounds awful. Makes me question who is running the show at MSG for them to select such a weak song.

THIS.. I have gone through p90x a few times.. I never was a big pushup guy, but after p90x, I can knock out 20-30 push ups easily ... rest , do something else and come back and Knock out another 20-30...

This sounds like a plan for me and along the lines of what I've been doing. So a couple of questions....is it really good for me to do this type of work out every day? Or should I rest a bit throughout the week? And during this work out, how long should I go for? Continuous sets for about an hour sound about right? Should I count the pushups and work towards a goal for the day? For a certain set?

Re: OT: PUSHUPS
P90X is legit and I've done it before....for about a month...a little more. But I feel like it's more geared towards trying to cut fat and lose weight which I can do through extra cardio. And as I said, that's not a big concern for me right now as I'm already pretty trim. I just want to gain as much size as possible...tone up as much as possible, while cutting the fat that I do have to flatten my stomach. I'm thinking that if I can figure out a solid routine to do 4-5 times a week with calisthenics, while eating properly and mixing in a little cardio, I can accomplish that. Just not sure exactly how to go about it and what types of routines will get me the best results. So far from what I've gathered, I should just be mixing it up as much as possible with my pushups and pullups and doing as many reps as I can throughout the day/session without overworking myself? I like the idea of a weighted backpack to increase my workload.
