There are good reasons to think about why somebody doesn't want Lin here.

-We already have Felton & Kidd, and you could make a case that they fit much better in our goal.
-Lin needs to still develop, we're clearly a win now team. Something's gotta give.

If people wanted support for the reason on not to match Lin those are two of them :dontknow:

your two reasons are incompatible.

The media knows how you guys get and they are purposely feuling this outrage as to keep the fan base chiming in and checking their web sites. I don't believe that $hit for a minute that we not matching. The positive effect Lin had on the team and the orginization runs too deep. I refuse be a lemming. Kidd said he's here to mentor, Woodson says the starting job is his, and Melo thinks highly of him. The guy is not going anywhere.

TBH, it's the perfect storm for BK. There has never been another option before. So during the dark ages of Isiah (and Layden as well really), there were no other real options. This will be the spark BK needs to take off. And it isn't even just the Lin thing (though it's most probably the breaking point for anyone that will jump ship). Many have soured on this organization for quite some time. I think this might push them over the edge.
i will be honest i hated the nets with a passion...but as soon as the became the BROOKLYN Nets I started looking at em different.A New York team pretty much,my 2nd favorite team to be honest and i have been a die hard since Pitino was coach. And if we dont at least get some 1st round pics for Lin Im done..It doesnt make sense to let him go for nothing. At least sign him then trade him.

That ancient SG, went 15ppg on 45% 3point shooting last season. Lewis is playing for the minimum, so nobody could even give a s*** how he produces. Joe Johnson may have a ridiculous contract, but he's a 20ppg scorer in this league. Besides that, you're still ignoring the fact that the Lakers have added the best distributing PG in the league for nothing and may actually have a shot at pulling the best center of this era.

We have nothing to brag about. We brought in a PG who nobody in this league wanted and was ridiculed and lambasted for his horrendous play during a contract year. We acquired another veteran PG who just came off a season where he scored 6ppg on 35% efficiency while playing 30mpg no less. The only signing we can even be remotely happy about is Camby, but he too is old and won't be the piece that gets us over the hump.

Lin minus development is still more an impact player than Felton.

Why cant we ever be just about winning? Fork up the money, pay the kid and lets go get a title.

If we dont match, the Jeremy Lin cloud will hover over our heads ALL YEAR! How are our players supposed to just concentrate on playing ball when they will be asked a million questions about Lin every single night?

Also are the Knicks decision makers aware of the backlash that will hit them after next year if the Knicks fail to reach the Conference Finals?

I mean, there is no avoiding the jeremy Lin cloud. If we dont bring him back, we are in for a LOOOOONG season.

They do it to themselves. They're probably the ones leaking the information to the media.

Conference Finals lol....We might be one and done, maybe 2nd round with the age of the roster and pg situation. Lin cloud will haunt the Knicks all year! Felton is going to be heavily scrutinized if Lin is playing well for the Rockets.

They weren't injured to start the season. We were getting embarrassed at home by teams like the Bobcats LONG before injuries started mounting.

If you think the Knicks wouldn't have gladly signed Lin to the max they could offer and avoid the open market, you're crazy. Lin, as a smart Free Agent, was going to explore the open market no matter what. He was well aware he could get more than the Knicks could offer. If the Knicks did have that conversation, it was probably more like: You know what we can offer, if you can get more on the open market, go for it, but we intend to match anyway (although I'm sure they never expected quite the poison pill that was offered)

WHY
Can't we re-sign Lin and deal him at the trade deadline????? If it's about the luxury tax, can't we do that.

NO CAP SPACE to sign anyone but minimum guys / 1 MLE guy per year to improve the team. NEED TO RETAIN AND BRING ON AS MUCH TALENT AS POSSIBLE.

We are not trying to beat the Cavs. We're trying to CONTEND in a 3 year window. Need more than Kidd/Felton/Pablo to get it done, you need to depend on Kidd to stay healthy, Felton to play Pre Or you need Amare to play pre-Meloish again, and Melo to play like an MVP guy. That's a lot to bank on.

Camby>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Jeffries
Thomas=Harrellson

Kidd did not put up better numbers than Fields. Not even close. Unless you think Kidd is drastically improving his numbers at the age of 40, we're not getting anything significant out of him next season.

That's not my point.

The point of my last few posts is that when I and Others said basically what you just said. "STAT & Melo can not play together" & "Adding Kidd and Camby does not make this team a tittle contender". Do you know what was said back to us? "We are in win now mode" & "It's OK to let go of assets because we don't have time to develop them".

Jeremy Lin is a young player that has to be developed. That's falls in line with "It's OK to let go of assets because we don't have time to develop them". Why Is this not the same as before? That's what so mind boggling about this board. We chucked deuces to Landry for his contract, but Lin deserves his contract for playing 26 games, and before that was being cut from teams rosters?

Do you know how much money Dolan and the NBA made during Linsanity? And you guys think he's leaving the media capital to play in Houston. Dolan is going to make the $45 million or whatever he's going to lose 3 years from now in this upcoming season if Lin comes out and plays well.

Regardless of what I think or what anyone thinks, that's what happened. The only thing they offered was a 1-year qualifying. You can make a player a contract offer AND still allow them to shop around for a better deal that could still be matched. e.g. Chicago offered Asik a contract.
