fair enough...but assuming this logic...someone gets fired right if that is indeed the case? We built flexibility but they signed a bunch of vets to show progress and win...if we win less that 30 games (thats my over/under) someone gotta take the fall or are we going to sell we improved from 17 wins

The only difference between Perry and Phil is Perry isn't signing guys for 4 years

Tell me I'm wrong

That's a major difference.

I’m surprised more people on this board aren’t saying we should trade for him and three of those picks.

the knicks will hover a little under 500 for about two months. then it will up to the kids to see if they can progress or do they fall apart. we'll have to see.

I don't like Fiz that much as a coach but seems like that will be the next escape goat....if you look at the roster we have build we lack arguably the 3 main contributing things to success in todays NBA.

3 point shooting, defensive versatility, and playmaking

hey! but we are one strong ISO team

Fiz is safe. Knicks would reap major backlash for breaking up the 1st all African American NBA mgt team.

Besides, they probably still paying Derek Fisher.

I think he'll stay because the Lakers are still the NBA's premier brand, and that seems like the whole motivation for AD in pushing so hard to go there.

That said, he's probably going to opt out next summer and a bunch of teams will think they have a shot at signing him, Knicks included.

AD with what the Knicks have at present, even assuming a great draft next summer isn't winning in the East. Still behind Milwaukee, Philly, Nets (good God), maybe even Boston.

I disagree, AD with NYK would be in the conversation with those other teams. The problem would be the overlap with Randle and Mitch. We would probably make trades to make the fit better and upgrade at another position. Maybe for Bradley Beal?

Very high probability Mitch goes in AD trade and Randle doesn’t get signed with AD here.

I’m talking about next summer. These 1 + 1 deals have us in play to sign AD if the tea leaves read he’s leaving LA.

RJ Barrett looked like a 3 year project in Summer League. I doubt the Knicks win more than 25 games this season.

I can see Westbrook and Steven Adams ending up on the Heat, as a salary dump. Something like Dragic, Anderson, Olynyk for Adams and Westbrook.

OKC gets out of major future commitments, while Miami makes a defensive first team.

Russell Westbrook
Jimmy Butler
Justice Winslow
James Johnson
Steven Adams

With Tyler Herro, Dion Waiters, Derrick Jones Jr., Bam Adebayo off the bench. Still would need another PG but that looks like a good tough lineup to me.

AD isn’t coming to the Knicks, not without another star already in place..

OKC is obviously in rebuild mode now.

To those mentioning getting Westbrook, they'd have to attach several picks for the Knicks to even entertain getting him at that salary. Some of these proposed trades where we give up some of our lottery talent AND giving away picks is nonsensical to put it nicely. I'd want unprotected OKC picks attached. Anyway it goes against the M.O. of how the FO stated they wanted to build this thing to pick up a guy like Russell who i actually like.

Hey at least no one is talking about RJ's rough debut so it's a win for the knicks in any case.

a lot of bad teams can play near .500 ball for a month or two and the east is terrible. the knicks got a bunch of shooting now and have a fast break team. there are so many wings that to play you're gonna have to hit shots or you're getting pulled. they'll start off the season decent. we did the 2 years before last year too.

I don’t know how the Raptors turned down a deal for George and Westbrook if it means keeping Kawhi. They already reaped the benefits of taking a chance and going all in why not do it again when it could definitely get you another title or two?

I hate Westbrook’s game but still him George and Kawhi is pretty lethal.

I like Siakam a lot but he’s not a best player on a title team level player you don’t keep him and give up years more of contending.

The only way this makes sense is if Kawhi told Toronto straight up he’s not staying there no matter who they get.

AD isn't coming to the Knicks to form the Pelicans North with Randle and the Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight (Knicks youth movement)
