So this black man is sleeping one off in his car at a Wendy’s in Atlanta. Naturally, police were called to the “scene” over this dangerous situation that has developed in its parking lot. When police confront this man, they decide to do a sobriety check on him - even though he was not “operating” the vehicle. The “suspect” then gets spooked by the whole confrontation and decides to run away out of fear. So police shoot him in the back. Now he’s dead.

To be fair wingo, if you watch the video on TMZ. "spooked" isn't the right words. He was in a MMA brawl style with two cops and punches and blows were thrown.

I'm not saying I know much about the situation and we need to see the entire footage for when he was confroted. But to say he just decide to "run" is inaccurate in this situation. I believe the report is that he took the officers tazer and shot the tazer back at him after the long scuffle on the ground (there is 2 videos one from a guy video taping the scuffle and the other from the parking lot where they are running and brooks shoot the tazer and then the officer right after shoots back.

Need more info on this situation for sure before I simply don't understand why the last result is shooting to kill. Aren't these guys at least told if you have to use your gun to maybe wound?

“While there may be debate as to whether this was an appropriate use of deadly force, I firmly believe that there is a clear distinction between what you can do and what you should do,” Ms. Bottoms said. “I do not believe that this was a justified use of deadly force.”

This quote from the mayor of ATL kinda sums up my thoughts. The situation/confrotation seems dicey but the end result still should have been avoided.

Yes 100%, no disagreement here. I was just clayfying the situation so we had the accurate information. I don't condone or believe lethal violence was needed to aprehend Mr. Brooks. And that is ultimately what so many people are fed up with and rightfully so. To clarfy my post wasn't justifying the actions.

The George Floyd murder was simply on another level of despecability because there was absolutely no threat. Its actually these interactions above are more point of disucssions for me because these are situations that should be reviewed on this can't end the way it did. There needs to be better ways to aprehend someone running then shooting them. Even if they are firing a taser back at you. Your job is to arrest them...not kill them.

A taser is not a lethal weapon and the cop knew it was a taser because he said "he has my tazer" so there was no fear for his life.

Having lived in center city Philadelphia for 25 years, I can tell you that is an old school “South Philly (i.e. Italian section) thing” that goes back to the racial tensions back in the late 60s when Rizzo was Police Commissioner. Philadelphia was VERY racist back then. I believe that the Phillies were one of the last teams in MLB to de-segregate and a lot of the minority players would say that Philly was one of the more difficult places to play.

So far Philadelphia has done well. They absolutely trashed the statue of Frank Rizzo and successfully had it removed from in front of the Municipal Services Building (a place where I had some very fond memories cutting my teeth as a young lawyer with the City) right across the street from city hall. And they had the mural of Rizzo painted over. They’ll get to Christopher - who I understand was not such a nice guy -eventually.

first off his car was in the drive through lane when he passed out drunk.....he then gets into a fight with both cops punching one in the face and taking his taser, while running away he tried to fire it at the cops

it is another a tragic death of a black man by the cops and they should have gone after him instead shooting, but this isn't close to what happen to george floyd.... and Rayshard Brooks didn't do himself any favors

if anything that death is a result of the current climate, when you think its ok to fight the cops its usually not a good idea
