if it was John Collins we would've heard atleast 1 Randle trade rumor already.

now that I think about it a little more, trading Randle actually does make a little bit of sense. I dont know what kind of value he has though and at this point with all the trades and draft picks that were just selected we might need to balance contracts for another team that would trade for him.

so maybe it is John Collins and the 19 trade is to reduce the impact of taking back contracts for a team that wants Randle? Would that ever make sense unless we got back a legit starter?

who has a log jam of players at a position and could use Randle?

did the pacers really find no one that is going to take turner/brogdon off their hands?

So what are your thoughts on FA? You have like what, $50 million? Do you think you go after PG and SG? Like a Ball/Fournier combo or something? That seems like that would be a major upgrade at those spots with Quickley and McBride behind Ball. Do you think you bring back Noel? Or use money in FA on a C? Start Robinson? I was thinking a lineup of Ball/Fournier/Barrett/Randle/Robinson would be interesting with a bench of the rookies, Quickley, maybe Rose, Burks, Bullock, Knox, Noel? Maybe Frank?

Maybe if not Fournier, DeRozan or Barton.

If not Ball, Graham, Shroder, Jackson?

I think Lowry or Conley would be a nice vet PG for your team but I imagine most don't want an older guy.

So, maybe he knows that, broadly, Knicks are going to make offers to RFA's, and possibly strong offers.

He may not know which ones. Or he might.

Sporting news had this list of the "best" RFA and UFA:

You are going to get about 20 different answers, but there are some broad commonality ones.

There are different schools of thought. That the Knicks go Sexton for PG duties and that's it - rest of the money is for a trade, either this year or more likely next year

Some like Sexton with Ball. Or Fournier. Oubre has curiously made a couple of appearances about how well he "fits" and likes what Thibs is doing. I suspect he is "Grant Hilling" the Knicks because they have the most money, and then he'll sign elsewhere, but it's one of his best chances at big money, but maybe not the best idea for the Knicks.

Others like trying to chase CP3. Seems unlikely he'll leave.
There are those that think Lowry would come cheaper.

The trouble with adding a Ball AND Fournier or Sexton and Ball or Sexton and Fournier, is that it kind of locks the team in because then Randle would be resigned next year and then RJ after that. That's the thinking against that.

I personally like adding Sexton\Ball or Sexton\Fournier, where Ball is signed to play SG or SF. Rose could even come back, though it would probably bury one of McBride or Grimes or IQ on the bench, out of the rotation, but maybe the Knicks want that level of competition.

Sexton/Rose/McBride
Ball or Fournier/IQ
RJ/Grimes
Randle/Obi
Mitch/Kelly Olynyk (for defense and a stretch 5 look)

Ball replacing Reggie as a SF would low key be a very smart move by us.

giving ball 15/yr to play SF >> giving Reggie 10/yr to play SF

I dunno if ball would do it and if anyone would have the balls to tell him its a position change.

I want us to get get buddy and sexton/Kyle. That would add alot of shooting and shot creation.

I think we can get buddyon the cheap. Say Charlotte's 1st and Knox.

We payed a combined 18 mil on Payton frank and d rose. I would rather pay 2 mil more on sexton than those 3 combined.

Buddy Ross sexton... Assuming sexton wants around 20 mil... Would they fit in our cap?

Gun to my head, I think the targets are one combo of:

Lowry and Derozan

Or

Lonzo and Duncan Robinson

Unless we trade for Sexton.

we have nothing to offer for SGA, that's a non starter. SGA alone isn't coming here unless we drafted Halliburton instead of Obi.

depending on how dire they are against spending $, we legit are probably the only team rn that can take Kemba straight up for free. them not being able to trade up while offering someone SGA is actually good for us if they desperately dont wanna pay Kemba or SGA.

derozan is a PF or PG now. so if we sign him he'd be a 6th man imo.

RJ can play 2 or 3, it doesn't matter.
Ball is fairly switchable as well.
I guess when the SF is a bit bigger/stronger, RJ gets that assignment on defense.

A few guesses

Lonzo Ball - Knicks go in
Kendrick Nunn - Knicks make an offer Miami might not match

and/or

Knicks throw a large sized bag\poison pill at Talen Horton-Tucker and/or Josh Hart that makes LA & Pelicans think twice about matching

Obviously not all of them.

I guess Trent Jr is possible since we are talking RFA, but wouldn't Fournier & Powell give similar (but different) styles of production and they are UFA?

Also, maybe it's Lonzo because Knicks missed out on Sexton?

Ok, I have no idea

I’m good on Hart. Literally saw a comparison of Grimes to Hart last night.

Fournier is on his way out. Given Perry connection, I say he is a lock. I prefer Lowry/Derozan duo but a trio of Fournier/Robinson/Ball or Dinwiddie is a real possibility.
