The original rumor was Mitch and 25 for 9 and Kennard.

9 would be used for maybe a Center or in another deal.

Although:
If they want Mitch bad enough and they can't get a better deal maybe they would agree on Mitch plus for Ingram (maybe even Zion).

I like the idea of trading Mitch for Herbert Jones if a trade is happening with the Pelicans

Tre Murphy or Herb Jones… come on down.

This front office wouldn’t trade for Ingram.

Hopefully Mitch is not just a contract dump.

i can see the comparison but my concern is pg13 and randle being paired together in the playoffs with their track records.

I have faith Randle is going to have a promising playoffs next season. But yeah, PG13 has enough sample size that you question his playoff performance. I'm not advocating him here, but I say in his defense he was stuck with someone not playing and another player disappearing in at key moments. I think PG13 at a 2nd/3rd option works here. But paying him 45-50 over 3/4 years seems a bit over the top. I rather him go to 76ers and screw up their cap situation.

lol based on what.
Julius Randle career playoff averages are 17 pts on 34!!??!?!% shooting and 26?!?!?% from 3. Westbrook has been a better playoff performer the last 3 years.

Paul George averaged 20 a game on 41 percent this last playoffs and averaged 27 on 44 percent during the Clippers 2021 conference finals run.
Oh and he’s an elite defender who can match up with Tatum and Brown.

You can have your reasons for choosing Randle over PG, but it’s certainly not playoff performance.

Randle has become a saint for Knicks fans. Can’t touch him.

#9 would be the best shot we have at getting a star. Eg. Drafting one.

~10% chance at #9 of drafting an all star
Get him on a rookie contract, he’s a bigger asset than Mitch would be

Trading for Luke Kennard. Should have just re-signed Fournier, skipped the Bogs nonsense

I don't see any of these happening. Ingram -- you have to pay next offseason. Trey -- you have to pay next offseason.

If PG is willing to take less money and facilitate a trade to NY and we keep our main core you have to do it imo. Like others have pointed out it simply isn't possible if PG is getting his $48mil max... but if he's getting less it makes it possible.

Say PG opts out and then sign and trade starting at 38 mil a year the first year (Clips can still offer him 8% raises iirc in this scenario)

Bojan Deuce and Mitch equate to $38 this year

PG year 1 - $38mil
PG year 2 - $41.04mil
PG year 3 - $44.32mil
PG year 4 - $47.87mil

He'd be turning down $221.1 over 5 years (Which LAC apparently isnt willing to offer him...)
And receiving $171.23 over 4 years. Thats roughly $50 mil but seemingly a better shot at a title in an easier conference.

Thats PG leaving ALOT of money on the table to go East and join a new team. But he is CAA...

PG
for
Mitch Deuce Bojan + 3 picks

As for the Knicks cap sheet (Before Brunson and Randle extensions but after Ihart and OG re-signings)

Brunson ($24.9mil)
PG ($38mil)
OG ($37.5mil)
Randle ($30.3mil)
iHart ($16.1mil)
Donte ($11.4mil)
Hart ($18.1mil)

Thats $176 mil on 7 roster spots.
Thats not including cap holds

Luxury Tax is $171 mil
First Apron is $178.655 mil
Second Apron is $189.486mil

I hope my math was right here lol but a PG trade without Randle is possible we'd just need him to play ball and force the clippers hands a bit. Would be able to use the exceptions? Not sure what the cap holds charge would be against the cap. Cap gurus lmk if im off base here please!

Yes! Or Murphy, though that's probably not possible unless the market for Ingram is bone dry.

You have to pay anyway.
