The Knicks cannot sign Middleton if he is bought out because he made too much before the buyout.

If they move Sims for nothing, they'll be able to sign buyout candidates that made up to $12.8M this year. Middleton made around $31M, I believe.

We can't sign a player if they made more than the taxpayer's MLE before the buyout, I believe
