Trading Luka was the right move, maybe not for AD, but the right move nonetheless.

No it wasn't. And even if it was (it's not) his process was completely moronic. So either way he should be fired for that alone.

Trading an MVP candidate who was the best player on a Finals team in his mid 20's is just stupid on it's face. Trading him because you didn't like his attitude, diet, etc. is just some bs.

Do your job! Motivate him. Hire a nutritionist, sports therapist, life coach, etc. Do what you need to do. You don't give up on a talent like that just because he's a bit immature in how he approaches his job in his 20's. Especially since nothing points to him being a criminal or a bad teammate or anything like that.

The most asinine part of the process was only talking to the lakers about him. Could have canvassed the league an gotten a million picks and some young up and coming players. Instead they got a guy that’s nicknamed street clothes cuz he’s out so much. They even acknowledge that this move shortened their title window. How does it make sense to shorten your title window? So even the argument for the affirmative side of the trade is actually bad too.

Even with the league giving them the 1st overral pick it was a terrible trade.

Its crazy to think the grizz got a better deal for Bane than the Mavs did for Luka.

Hot take: if Kyrie was healthy Nico wouldn’t have gotten fired and the Mavs would be contenders

Kyrie had a well documented history of not showing up for work before they traded for him so none of the excuses really fly

Remember these dirty bastards stole our #10 pick a couple years ago. Remember the KP trade victory laps

 The 1 game AD and Kyrie played together they were destroying the rockets. It looked pretty promising. And then you add in Cooper Flagg with them, I think Nico was on to something. Just my 2 cents guany!

It's still an awful trade for the Mavs, they shouldn't have traded Luka at all. And I hate the mavs terrible fan base. But I was just saying I think if they were able to stay healthy they might've been a really good team. Sounds like they're gonna tank the season away and trade AD and probably Kyrie too

AD is elite when healthy and Christie is an underrated role player.

Imagine if the Sixers traded Allen Iverson in his prime after a finals loss, they would’ve been in a better position. They weren’t going to win a championship with AI. Your best player can’t be 165 lbs or 270 lbs in Luka’s case.

The problem with you analogy is that Luka is really good and efficient number 1 option and Iverson wasn’t. There’s a history in the nba of unsuccessful small guards and a lot of examples of ball handling wings being successful at winning titles. AD has played 70 games or more games 3 times in his career and 2 of those years were his 5th and 6th of his career. He’s legitimately never healthy. Lebron was certainly over 280 and is one of the best players of all time.

Anybody think the Mavs can get better this year now that Nico has been fired?

What kills me about this is that Mavs fans are still insane enough to buy tickets.

Like Nico is a moron, clearly, but the owners clearly signed off on trading a generational talent that isn't even in his physical prime because they didn't want to pay him. Yet, they still come out and fill their coffers. The fans should boycott the franchise

But whatever. I warned Mavs fans that trading for Kyrie would destroy their franchise and my prediction came true, and Kyrie had nothing to do with it  !!!!

Mavs are just as fake as Clippers, I dont care if Kawhi, AD, Kyrie or Cp3 are healthy or not. They are absolute pretenders.

It's still a race to disgrace between the Mavs and the Nets. That's the only interest either team is expected to provide this season.

The Mavs still have Cooper Flagg, but how can someone, as a Mavs fan, feel confident about that when the owners traded away Luka at age 25 because they don't want to pay the cost of doing business?

It's hard to call who is in worse shape. I didn't even realize that Brooklyn drafted all those 1st rounders and damn near all of them aren't even good enough to play on the roster actively tanking until Sunday. That's absolutely madness.

A broken down AD, a role player and one 1st is a horrible return for LUKA DONIC.

There is no way to spin that trade as anything but malpractice.

Ok, but see, the glorious part of it is they'll never get more than a tease of what that could be. A few short games - maybe even a month - of great play before one of them goes down again. And it couldn't happen to a lousier bunch of louts.

And if you're on here playing up how great it could be before it all falls apart again it will be all that much more delicious when it happens.
