Iman has such high expectations and he hasn't even played a game yet. I hope we can all forgive him for mistakes that are bound to happen in his rookie season. In other words...lower the expectations a bit guys. I've already heard about him being Melo's side kick once Amare leaves? Oh god...will we ever change??? One bad game, and Knick fans all over the world will be calling for him to be traded. Take it ez

Agreed. I liked the Iman pick from the beginning and I have high hopes for Iman, but I don't expect him to reach the level I think he can get to in his 1st season. He'll have ups and downs like most rookies. He'll show you flashes of what he can be, but he'll also make his share of mistakes. I just want to see what Iman can do on an NBA court already.

Tommy Dee:They loved singleton but Walsh had Shumpert in his "top 5 overall" because they "needed someone to guard the basketball."about 21 minutes ago

...and when they say "the basketball", they actually mean Dwayne Wade.

Well, no kidding.... the Knicks have needed someone to guard the basketball since someone named Ward wore a Knicks uni....

Next up: Someone to guard the basket. Haven't seen that since Camby wore blue and orange....

Yeah, they need a center. A big man that can alter shots and grab some rebounds and have some form of an offensive game.

But Iman is very athletic and has the tools to be a lock down type of defender and add that with him wanting to be a great defender and that equals potentially a defender that can help slow down some of the best players in the NBA. I have a feeling we're gonna be seeing Iman guarding a lot of the top players in the game. I could see Mike putting him against players like Rose and Wade.

Zip think Rondo was probably the biggest inspiration for the Shump pick as we simply had no answer for him last year.

I do think that played apart. The Knicks during the year really had a lot of trouble containing players like Rondo and Wade and Rose. Athletic guards who are fast and can score in many different ways. So, I think the Knicks saw that and then they saw Iman and they thought he could turn into an elite defender and he could help contain those players. I think it was the right move. Iman has all the tools necessary to be an elite defender and I think he can become a dynamic scorer as well, but he still has a lot of work to do, but with his work ethic, he'll have the best chance as anyone to reach their potential.

Love the #nodaysoff

Shump may be the hardest working player in the NBA. Lets just hope that doesnt change once he starts playing NBA ball. Gotta hope the nightlife doesnt get to him. I truely believe we got our 3rd star, and this is basing it off him playing 0 minutes in the nba. A player who works this hard with his athleticism and size is bound to become something special.

Thanks for the video. You see how hard Iman works on his game. Those are some intense drills. His shot looked good in that video. Really, in all the videos I've seen of Iman, his shot has looked solid. I've seen him making shots all over the court. In this video, he barely missed any shots. Now, I'm sure his shot has improved as well mainly do to his work ethic. I've read before on Hoopsworld that Iman's been working out a ton this summer and working on his shot. I can't wait to see how Iman does in an NBA game. I really think he's gonna turn out to be a steal.

At least he's not stuck in the Gallo zone where half the fans HATE him before he ever takes the court. I have a feeling people will be disappointed if he comes into the league a raw athlete who's more potential and hard work than anything else...but that's exactly what he was advertised as and I'll be happy just to watch him develop.

Not to discredit what he is doing, but the vast majority of players put in this work as well, if not more.

He's definitely hungry though, but we will have to see it on the court.

So he's going to be the next top 10/15 player of all time?

I'm incredibly hyped up about Iman, was 100% behind the pick when he was drafted, and I have really high hopes for him, but c'mon...let's not get ahead of ourselves here.

If we are able to keep him past this season, I'm probably going to buy his jersey (I still need to buy a Gallo jersey...favorite player).

why did you highlight half of my sentence? i said "i'm convinced he can be the next kobe if he is persistent like kobe. which is pretty impossible so no, i don't think he's going to be the next top 10/15 player of all time. btw, gallo doesn't have half the talent iman has. gallo can't create his own shot. he can never be a star if he can't create his own shot. from the video that i've seen from iman, he can create his own shot easy and smooth. plus he is very athletic so he has all the tools. is it stupid to think that if he has kobe's mindset and is persistent like him that he could become the next kobe? :-?

Kobe has an incredibly high BBIQ...he can work as hard as Kobe and still never reach his level. I highlighted half of it because in all likelihood, the hard work will continue - people that work hard from the beginning tend to have the same work ethic throughout their life (including non-athletes as well).

Gallo has nothing to do with Iman...I wasn't comparing the two. I was just saying that I will buy Iman's jersey but I still need to buy Gallo's jersey as well. You saying he can't create his own shot is pretty funny. Getting to the FT line, driving the lane, and posting up (which he started to do more often in Denver when the coach didn't have his job as the spot up shooter) all count towards being able to create a shot.

I personally think it is pretty stupid to believe that he can become the next Kobe "if he has Kobe's mindset and is persistent like him." Like I said before, Kobe has an incredibly high BBIQ and from what Iman has shown at GTech where he forced up bad shots, he does not have it. He's going to be a good 3/4 option on offense (depending on if we get CP3 or not) and a very nice defender, but expecting him to be a top SG in the league is pushing it.
